For future reference, you won't need to worry about copyright strikes or anything when reacting to Ultraman content. Tsuburaya, unlike Toei, actually cares about its fanbase outside of Japan. Both of them are practically yin-and-yang when it comes to international distribution of their Tokusatsu properties.

Really appreciate how patient & chill you are when reacting to all the Ultraman openings (part 1). Especially after I recently saw a reactor who just skipped a lot of the openings coz he has short attention span and no respect for the material. Your reaction is a good medalist work by comparison. You see, early Ultraman is more of a mystery sci-fi show than a superhero show, hence the trademark silhouette openings. The showrunners were also the type to pour all the money for the actual episodes themselves, not the openings. That's why Ultraman has simple openings but more production values in the episodes when compared to Super Sentai & Kamen Rider. Building those miniatures & sets are not cheap.

Agreed. Jay has class and respect. I can't stand these other reactors for Ultraman and Kamen Rider, the younger ones (freaking Gen Z brats) just make me lose hope

Fun fact: The founder of Tsuburaya: Eiji Tsuburaya, known as the "Father of Tokusatsu". Is the special effects director for Gojira (1954). According to the Wikipedia, he's the co-creator of Godzilla and Ultraman. Without this man we probably wouldn't have two iconic Japanese franchises. Easily one of the most important and influential figures in cinema history. He has worked on approximately 250 different films. He sadly passed away at the age of 68 😢

That's a lot of Ultraman material to react to! Almost sixty years worth of shows. Luckily, the franchise has its own official KZbin channel these days where you can watch the latest seasons (or shows, rather) with English subtitles, and also many of the classics. I first discovered Ultraman thanks to an edited VHS version of the animated version from 1979 - 1980 (The Ultraman, or Ultraman Jonias). I just thought it was another animated sci-fi show. Much, much later, by 2002, I discovered the live action show on a fan-made website.

I discovered ultraman by chance, while loitering through vrv i stumbled on ultraman geed and was intrigued. I stopped prt way though and decided to go back to the beginning and watch my way back, im on dyna right now

The thing is alot of people have tried putting Ultraman, Kamen rider and sentai in a VS mindset but ultimately failed to take into account the scale of the fights. Ultramen are huge like 80 feet tall easy while the other 2 are human sized. Yeah sure riders have giga hacks and sentai a giant robot but when the top tier of each franchise can either blow up dimensions and bend reality you really can't tell who wins.

Actually Ultraman towards the future and Ultraman the ultimate hero are co productions with Australia and America, and when they aired in Japan they changed the titles to Great and Powered. That's why there are Americans in Powered, cause it is american. But sometimes there are foreign actors in Tokusastu.

36:30 thats because they are made by different companies, Kamen Rider and super sentai are made by Toei, while Ultraman is made by Tsuburaya, however, the first Ultraman and Kamen Rider Ichigo (also the first rider) team up in a crossover movie from 1980, i think its even out with subs at this point

16:13 Yep, they're the Ultraman Squad, but, they're actually called a "Defense Force" team. Defense force teams are a paramilitary defense force that is specialized in protecting the earth with their technology and weapons. Most Ultramen somehow join the defense force with their human disguise so they could observe and bond relationships with humans. Defense force teams usually have fighter jets, cars, weapons, and a headquarters. Nowadays, Defense force teams still exist ever since 1966 or even before Ultraman arrived on earth (Ultra Q). Defense force teams usually disband before another defense force gets formed.

Thai-ga is also correct, But since Tiga's name comes from the indo-malay word "three" according to his 3 forms, in an Indonesian accent, it's Tee-ga but in a Malay accent it's ti-ge.

well 26:04 that is Tiga ( T-ga) and he has a new generation named Trigger 25th anniversary of Tiga Dyna also has one that is Decker 25th anniversary of Dyna but Gaia didn't =)))) Ultraman's big three from 1996 to 2008 is Tiga,Dyna and Gaia you can call it TDG trinity
