The injection (stimpack is the name in game) heals you and does have some benefits like stopping bleeding. To repair limbs that are damaged you need another item (doctors bag) so the stimpack would have been of no use in this occasion. Many things which are happening here is game logic. Head exploding (bloody mess skill), eating food (those cherry thing which the ghoul ate) while you fight is to heal, etc. So you will have just have to deal with. If you played the game it all makes sense. Even the main charecters have certain builds like Lucy introduces herself in ep1 with her main skills being science and repair thus she has high intelligence and luck which you will see as the story goes on, the ghoul with his shooting skills has high agility and charisma (no surprises there) and maximus has high endurance as we saw he could take a beating and agility to match his endurance.
@cerisambrook76922 ай бұрын
I think that was the game mechanic in the first couple of games, thereafter stimpacks cured 'crippled limb' status - I don't recall doctor's bags being a thing from Fallout 3 onwards. Also going to sleep in a valid bed also cures all physical ailments (but not chem addictions and rad poisoning)

Wilzig (Michael Emerson) is a form of NPC (Non-Playable Character) that has the players information. In video games, they sometimes use that info to gain the trust of the player. What we saw in "Fallout" was a sort of call-back to those types of NPC's.

The reason that The Ghoul's shots explode in this episode are because he is using a special kind of ammunition- another signature of the Fallout series. I believe he is using anti-infantry rounds that aren't good at penetrating armor (like T-60 suits), but explode into shrapnel for maximum carnage to flesh, wood and softer materials. The Ghoul is a murder hobo- a maximum level character who's been there, done that, and has the t-shirt. All DLC completed over more than 2 centuries of surviving. Of course he'd casually have special ammo loaded up for a specific mission.

Tumbleweed is Japanese Knotweed, an invasive species that was imported to North America early in the 20th century. The Ghoul's handgun isn't in any of the games before this came out. Now there's a mod to add it into Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. It seems to be some kind of sawn-off grenade launcher, except that the grenades are rocket powered, making it a pistol-shaped RPG launcher. A lot of the other guns in the show are in one or more of the games, except the British Sterling L2A3 9mm sub-machine guns that Vault 33 has in its armory. That's relatively fitting though, because the Fallout timeline and ours diverged from each other in the 1950s, so guns like the Sterling are historically justifiable, whereas modern weapons from our timeline aren't so easy to fit into the setting. The Fallout games are famously moddable, and the modding community - players who write software to add things or change things in the games - is huge. So there are mods available for every conceivable real world firearm, but the base games limit the selection to more lore-friendly weapons. You can play as a Cowboy in Fallout New Vegas. That's a build you can do, with perks available to encourage the use of revolvers, lever-action rifles, sticks of dynamite and bowie knives in preference to other weapons, and an abundance of different cowboy hats and dusters your character can find and wear. There are no horses in the Fallout games sadly. They didn't make it through the Atomic War.

DID LUCY RECOGNIZE MAXIMUS? Lucy didn't recognize Maximus, she recognized the power armor. There were a few context clues and quick bits of dialogue when Lucy was in the vault that indicated that she's actually very familiar with different makes and models of the power armor. Also, as hinted at by the chalkboard in the vault classroom where Lucy was teaching history, those power armor suits were used by the military before the apocalypse, so the people in the vaults were aware of them. When, in this episode, Lucy saw the power armor and what she assumed was a Knight IRL for the first time, she was immediately geeking out and kind of, as you said, star struck. Fun side note: As you may or may not have noticed in the episode, she only saw Maximus when he was tossing the ghoul around and looking bad-ass. Every time he was being clumsy or the ghoul was getting the better of him, she was somewhere she couldn't see him. Even when the Ghoul lassoed Maximus and caused him to fly off out of control, she only looked up to see Max flying away and she smiled, assuming he was being awesome. DID THE DOG SWITCH ALLEGIANCES? No. Four got up and immediately started following the scent toward her daddy, Wilzig (Michael Emerson). The Ghoul saved the dog specifically so he could follow her to his bounty target. She's not really following the Ghoul so much as he's following her. WAS KNIGHT TITUS LYING TO MAXIMUS ABOUT WHAT THE BROTHERHOOD WOULD DO TO HIM? Probably not. The Brotherhood is not a cuddly organization and failure is not really tolerated. Punishment for failing in your duties to your Knight and allowing him to get injured would likely be harsh, especially if your Knight is a dick and is really throwing you under the bus. And letting your Knight die...? Going back to the Brotherhood is not really an option for Max unless, as he said, he can mitigate the death of his Knight by bringing back the Target (aka Wilzig). From our POV, it's obvs not fair to Max as Titus was a jerk and a coward and died because he insisted on doing something stupid and pointless, but the Brotherhood wouldn't see it that way. They'd just see a Squire who failed in his duties to his Knight as being (as the Brotherhood instructor said to Max in the first episode) "more useful as a corpse." MAXIMUS "DOESN'T REALLY HAVE A MISSION NOW": He does. It's to get "the target" and bring it back to the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood will kill him for letting his Knight die UNLESS he can come back having succeeded in the original mission. It's not exactly "by the book," but bringing them something they care more about than the death of a single Knight is Max's only chance at escaping punishment (or probable execution) for "failing his Knight." You might have been talking to each other over that part, but when Titus said, "They'll kill you for this, you know that, right?" Max answered, "Not if I bring back the target." WHY DIDN'T THEY USE A STIMPAK ON WILZIG'S FOOT? In the game, stimpaks restore health but they don't do anything for broken or disabled limbs. For those, you need a "doctor bag" in the game. Since just "a doctor bag" wouldn't really translate well to the show, they did something a little more visually interesting (and gross) with "Jim's Limbs." Personally, I'm interested to see if stuff like that finds its way into the next installment of the game. While the show stays pretty faithful to a lot of the videogame logic (to its credit), I think it also tweaks some of the ideas into interesting concepts that I hope the game franchise incorporates.
@andrewdemarco35122 ай бұрын
Stimpacks do heal limbs in game if you go to the status screen on the pip boy and use them on the specific crippled limb. There is no way as a player character you can actually have an entire limb blown off without dying though. Logically the stimpack wouldn't be enough to reattach a limb. That said, it's weird they didn't give him the stimpack to slow the bleeding after they attached the metal limb. He might have made it much further that way. I'm guessing they forgot they had the stimpack as it wad in a different room and they had a hard time even locating the limb replacement the place was so disorganized. The ghoul was just lucky to find it

The show’s thesis is explicitly stated by Wilsig at the campfire. Will you still want the same things when you’ve become a different animal altogether? As I said in a comment on the first video, this is a moral tale, and moral stories have even higher stakes than a story about survival. Your morality is your identity. It’s who you are, your values, what’s important to you. If you physically survive, but your identity is corrupted, have you really survived?

Wilzig worked for *The Enclave* the most high tech and arguably most evil of all the post war factions, basically the descendants of the "Military Industrial Complex" and main enemies in Fallout 2 and 3, their leaders are total genocidal fascists, and thus some of the ordinary members defect "Fallout" is set in an alternative Earth, where history and tech went a bit different, and part of that is that US culture stagnated and stayed sort of like the 1950s, hence style and music ;)

After rewatching I realized that Wilizig was IMO at the cave before he meets up with Lucy because that is where he dumps his lab coat and switches to the dark jacket. Acts of bravery LOL, the Knights think squires are cannon fodder. Max was very disappointed with Titus. Maximus is a true believer in the ideals of the brotherhood. Yes, bottlecaps are the currency. In the ghouls defense CX-404 attacked him, so he reacted in the way that has kept him alive for two hundred years. "How did you get stuck in a wood beam" well IMO when Max getting stuck in the wooden platform it is a game reference to the well known clipping errors in the game, where you often get stuck and cant move.
