Dropping "Oh by the way the Homeless Guy is actually a time traveling Ted" as a bit of trivia from Nightmare Time is so fucking wild and also exactly as chaotic as the overall Hatchetfield lore.

47:16 When Grace says “human sacrifices, demonic rituals, sex magic.” It is foreshadowing, she looks at each of the nerds. Ruth’s is obviously an elation to her whole demeanour but it could also relate to Grace in the last song ‘Dirty Dudes Must Die’. Peter and Richie’s are slightly less noticeable, especially if you haven’t seen it before. Peter would have been sacrificed to get rid of Max’s ghost if Max hadn’t stopped the bullet, after the ‘If I Loved You Redux’. Richie’s could be relating to either Max who came back as a ghost or demon or, the one I thought of first, ‘The Summoning’, this could be because Richie is played by Jon Matterson just as the leader of ‘The Lords In Black’, Wiggly, is, but it could also be unrelated.
@HelloXrancidkitteh17 күн бұрын
my take on the ending is Grace is "partially" possessed. she's now indebted to the Lord in Black for the rest of her life to gather souls for them. their song to Grace, Steph, and Pete literally warns them that whomever were to fulfill their half of the deal would also be "forever in their debt" - hence why Grace is like that in the end there. she didn't give up God or her beliefs. that was just the possession coming out to play and fulfill the Lords of Black's demands.
@GazzaTF9 күн бұрын
My personal headcanon is that now that she's had pre-marital sex, she sees herself as lost in God's eyes and thus turns to worshiping the Lords in Black to get in to their good graces to spare her soul from Hell. Picking victims that she can justifiably sacrifice. But yours is a good interpretation too!
@TheNitpickChick7 күн бұрын
I saw another interpretation in a video essay that said when Max died, Grace saw that as an act of God. But when the police were about to arrest her, she said herself that God was hanging her out to dry for something she believed God brought about. She felt abandoned by her old god in that moment and started to doubt. Then, the Lords in Black were summoned. New gods that Grace could actually see and talk to, and who gave her clear instructions on how to smite Max, for good. Her sacrifice was a way of essentially converting to serving her new gods, in order to continue smiting more people who Grace deemed as evil. It was less possession and more corruption of morals and gaining praise/power for doing the Lords’ bidding.

To answer your question at 1:04:11, "Skidoo" is a 1968 comedy where every last word of the end credits, all the way to the copyright, are sung by a swing chorus. (It's also a kind of jetski snowmobile)

Great reaction! You did a great job giving some pieces of context about Nightmare Time without over-explaining the musical! To answer your question towards the end, there could be be more Hatchetfield. They said that they didn't want to restrict themselves to a trilogy. There are already episodes written for a third season of Nightmare Time that might be produced one day. We had titles, summaries and quick readings for some of those in different livestreams. They also have a script for some kind of movie set in Hatchetfield that they don't know if they will be able to do someday. And they said the next musical, if it were to happen, would be centered around Miss Holloway which I am extremely hyped about.
@EricWalker-p7e19 күн бұрын
1:35:35 My “Just for Once” headcannon is that it’s not Ruth performing an actual song from ‘The Barbecue Monologues’, but rather it’s what a middle aged Ruth’s BBQ monologue would be. She dreams of being a cancer survivor in a loveless marriage with disappointing kids. But at least she had her moment as the center of attention when she had cancer. It’s so much more heartbreaking. 2:30:23 not necessarily the end of Hatchetfield. In addition to the “Workin’ Boys” short film, they have an entire season 3 of Nightmare Time written. It’s just a matter of time and money. Meanwhile they just did Cinderellas Castle which takes place in “The Lands that Are” with a whole bunch of other story/shows planned for that universe.

Fun Fact about Bully/Bury the Bully! Jeff Blim said in his watch along with Jon Matteson that he wrote songs with the characters snapping on the wrong beats! They are snapping on 1 and 3 whereas you would usually snap on 2 and 4. If you’re someone who is really sensitive to musical rhythm, (like I am) you can feel that the music is just a little unbalanced and it was done on purpose!

interesting that you say you kinda bounced off black friday's songs but became obsessed with the ones in NPMD because I at first had the opposite reaction. I love TGWDLM to death but I really liked that Black Friday's soundtrack felt more sincere imo, any song Dylan sings went straight into my daily rotation for like 3 months. But with Nerdy Prudes I wasn't really feeling the music on first watch, maybe I just didn't connect with the material there or something. I liked the show overall, but kinda like with Firebringer I was enjoying the dialogue way more than the songs tbh - but then unlike Firebringer I came around on that with almost every track in the span of like maybe a week. Except for maybe Dirty Girl (I cringe too hard) and Just for Once (love Lauren but I also didn't like the songs in Company too much and I got that vibe there idk) almost all of the tracks became regular listens, so much so that I'd reckon I listen to way more NPMD songs now on average than any other star kid show except maybe twisted. I mean Hatchet Town I loved instantly but I didn't think I'd revisit Go Nighthawks or The Summoning at first but here we are lmao. Anyway, they've also just posted VHS Christmas charols to their channel, their adaptation of the Gift of the Magi, The Little Match Girl and of course a Christmas Carol (the last one was posted like 2 years back before), so if you haven't checked that out I can recommend that one aswell.

I know this was probably a long time ago since this was a "patreon" exclusive, so perhaps you've already done this... but you mentioned that Black Fridays music didn't really stick with you. I'd say go back and watch it again, because I didn't love it the first time myself, but then I actually watched another reaction channel doing it and it kind of embedded itself a little deeper, and then I was drawn to it, and now I think it might be some of my favorite in the series.

I was fully cynical about this when I started watching, but I'm pleasantly surprised. This was very enjoyable. The main song 'Nerdy Prudes Must Die' sounds exactly like a re-written Iron Maiden song. The 'You Don't say' bit is part of a well-worn stand-up routine.

You not being a fan of musicals is why it looks strange to you -- it's actually extremely standard in theatre, and is used at the highest standards of musical theatre. The televised version of Hamilton even has almost all of the actors wearing forehead mics (with the exception of Leslie Odom Jr., who's bald and doesn't have a wig to shove it underneath). The chunkier ones tend to break immersion more, and it's great for audio quality.
