Honestly... I typically CANNOT stand when men talk about feminism, however, listening to this video completely changed my views. It was so well informed and portrayed, I didn't feel at any point attacked or belittled (as i usually do when other brothers deliver the video in an (arguably) angered way). May Allah reward all three of you abundantly 😊

People reacting how the man in brown looks down and lowers his gaze. I remember a funny experience before I took my shahada years ago, I went to a mosque to ask for a teacher/imam to answer some questions I had and at the time, I was covering but not correctly yet. I wear a rectangle scarf and a tight maxi dress with a lose robe on top. I went in the mosque and a man was there cleaning the place and so I went to ask him where the lady's section is and without looking at me (his eyes glued to the floor) he pointed me to a curtain covered area and told me to remove my shoes before walking in and being a dumdum I was, I found it rude that he didn't even look at my eyes but later I realized I should have been thankful as the brother is respecting me. 😂😂😭😭

In Portland Oregon women were attacked for wearing a hagib. I was angry that not only was this a hate crime done to these women but this crime made the young girls afraid to wear one. I was angry that these young ladies felt they were forced by our society to deny who they were to satisfy them. I veil at Mass. I feel like freedom of religion should be for all of us. let's be very clear. I am an American revert of 6 years alhumdulillah. I made a comment of this video yall are watching. I found it so incredibly "opininated" and holds NO ground in Islam whatsoever. I was so disapointed with the comment section. Muslim sisters saying "thank you for teaching me this, yada yada.." Non Muslims saying "whow how articulate, thanks for teaching us." AstugfirAllah she is spreading these lies that are making Muslim women rethink hijab and non Muslims an excuse to tell Muslims they don't need to cover. Just because she sounds educated doesn't mean she is speaking the truth. She says "An American Muslim like me..." YO sista I'm a business owner, mother, wife, KZbinr etc and I wear hijab and Allah subhana wa ta'ala has blessed me for my struggle and sacrifices. Also FYI I have never been attacked for wearing hijab. If anything my hijab has given me the oppurtunity to give dawah alhumdulillah! I respect her as a person but I do not agree with anything she said. Sorry such a long comment.

I finally figured out how to wear the hijab correctly, and I absolutely love it. I also wear the abaya. I'm 5'10 and thin and the one thing I've always had problems prior to conversion was being stared at. With the Hijab and Abaya-although fashionable-I feel protected from constant assessment. They can see the clothing but they don't see me. Sometimes I get negative reactions that could be Islamophobic but it's better than the objectification. Not only that, I don't have to worry about men approaching me, because it is assumed that I'm married. And no, I don't feel ugly in it. There are some sisters who say that they don't feel attractive in it but I don't feel the same. I'm think it also forces me to be a good behavioral example in the public eye, because I don't want to bring shame on the faith. This was my choice. I literally took shahada on the operating table.

As far as the clothing aspect, what threw me off as well if the fact that she mentioned that the scholars have brought along the historical era to the modern era. The Quran is meant to NOT change... it will always be the same forever and just because mankind has changed and we have come to a modern era does not mean we make up new rules to make it halal to dress according to today’s so called “custom” as she mentioned. I can wear my hijab and be modest at the same time. If a sister does not feel comfortable to wear the hijab and cover then it’s her choice, she can just choose not to wear it and dress according to her custom. We cannot CHANGE the Quran based off of what we like and what we don’t like... we abide by it and will abide by it always like the way Allah has written for us ❤️

the video is just to clarify that the Hijab is not optional the same way the salah is not optional, but after clarifying this, you are free to do what you want because you are not ignorant any longer and from here on out, its between you and God

The problem, arguably, is that many of our sisters’ have been indoctrinated by western ideologies such as feminism to the point that their belief in such a movement has surpassed their acceptance of Quran and Sunnah. The only cure to such ignorance is through knowledge. However, when evidence is presented to them, a defensive stance is always accompanied because society tells you as a woman to behave this way towards men. It is not a sin to talk about the problems of women nor are men unqualified to address such matters just because they have ‘XY’ chromosomes. I believe, the 3 brothers have done an exceptional job in dissecting such a video for the benefit of our ummah. It is not fair to scrutinise their efforts merely on the basis that you have a hard time accepting the truth. You made the choice to click, so drop the pride and draw on the merits.

It's men like you that are arrogant and think their better than everyone else. So you believe women should not get an education or have the chance to be a doctor or lawyer all because you feel insecure and you use the religion to cover it up. Yes you can still be respectful to the religion you don't need to be walking in a mini skirt and no it doesn't mean we don't respect our husbands. Its that we also want some opportunity in life and because arrogant men like are so ignorant that's why some women end up depressed and unhappy is that what Islam told you to do ?

The brothers keep their eyes away to be respectful to themselves & this woman, due to the way she is dressed. In the original video she is wearing very tight skinny jeans. It's also said a woman that wears perfume & walks past men so they smell her scent is a temptress; I'd assume same applies to clothing. The brothers do not want to be tempted by a temptress. Whether skinny jeans can be regarded in this manner, I don't know. But that's their judgement on the matter by the seems.

Her understanding is one which serves and bows down to the post-colonial western expectation. As Muslims we don't bow down to anyone other than Allah and we don't conform to societal norms. We should transcend and excel beyond that and be an example to everyone that sees us. “Islam began as a something strange and it will return to being strange, so glad tidings to the strangers.”

+nathan felton, no one is discriminating against gay people. God made homosexual ACTS prohibited. Just as these acts that homosexuals enjoy are prohibited, other acts that other people wish to do are also prohibited... Person A wants to do homosexual acts but has no desire to do drugs while Person B wants to do drugs but has no desire to indulge in homosexual acts. Homosexuals aren't the only ones that are prohibited from indulging into a portion of their desires. This world isn't our final resting place where we prioritize our desires... This girl though... So i'm commenting as i go along- she is saying that wearing a hijab or covering will lead to harassment, i don't know what world she leaves in because before I became Muslim, I wore whatever she said and i hated leaving the house wallah... being cat called, touched and even grabbed! I had to plan where i'm going based on what i was wearing not on need or function. NOTE: I'm not saying that all this doesn't happen, but to ME it happens less, and people sometimes, actually think twice before saying or doing anything= I live in Kenya BTW. I know there a lot of variables but weeeh, I genuinely laughed at that comment.

@@submsiveboy7226 A man's authority over his wife is not just a privilege, but also a responsibility. It is a privilege he gets for taking care of her and her children financially, and it is his responsibility to ensure her security. More money is given to the man during inheritance, as he must spend not only on himself, but only on his family, whereas a woman can choose to spend solely on herself. And about 'not being able to say no'; I assume you're referring to this hadith: If a husband calls his wife to his bed and she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the angels will curse her till morning. [Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 59, Hadith 48] It is not true that she can't say no. She is permitted to say no if she has a valid reason, such as being tired. Found your channel recently and going through old vids and I literally gasped when I opened this video. I put hijab on a year ago, I wasn't wearing it for the first 6 years I was Muslim, and I remember seeing this video years ago and practically nodding along. I was so scared to wear the hijab that I would do my best to convince myself the headscarf isn't an obligation only Sunnah and that I live in the West so it's not safe and that we live in a different time now blah blah blah. So I don't think it's necessarily that she's ignorant, she may subconsciously know that it is an obligation, but she's doing her best to convince herself and the world that we can interpret Islam for where and when we're living. It's almost sad, I remember how insecure I felt back then.

A khimar in arabic is a covering. Like a covering for the floor, table, window. It’s a physical covering of something. The aya says to strike a covering over their pockets. The term pockets is used because it has a physical and psychological meaning. God didn’t use the term breast or chest deliberately. The Koran never talked specifically about hair covering. That’s what we humans made it. The interpretations nowadays about the Koran, and not only about the hijab, are really worrying. The hijab has been materialised. The Koran has been materialised. This is really concerning. I really hope muslim women start to open this discussion, because after all, they are wearing the symbol of the materialised Islam. It’s time to go back to the essence of Islam, and to fulfil our journey in this world as was asked by God, not by sheiks that are imposing interpretations that are dividing us, and are leading is to an earthly existing.
@elhamwilliams95262 жыл бұрын
I’m arab. Al khimar simply means covering. Allah swt asked the women to cover their breast in that verse. There is NO MENTION of hair anywhere. They are picking at words and interpreting them how they wish. Ali was there comparing the word khimar to being absent minded when drunk therefore it refers to the hair LOOOOL. I worship Allah and not man.

It would be nice if a portion of them would shut up and let women speak about themselves and their experiences. most people discussing women's rights in the muslim community are men. that's an issue and that's what most people mean when they say men can't discuss feminism; on many occasions those doing the talking don't know what they're talking about.

Lol the ignorance about other religions make me laugh out loud! I being a Hindu myself was never asked to cover my head. And I've lived in one of the remotest area of the country too. Nobody there asked me to cover my head. Now when I'm living in Punjab (where Sikhism originated), majority of my friends are Sikhs for obvious reasons and no girl covers her head. Also, just to make it clear, I've no problem with hijab as such. Wearing or not wearing it must be a choice, not a compulsion which it sadly has become. In our culture as well as country, we are not forced to cover ourselves. If the logic behind forcible covering is to maintain modesty and protect yourself from catcalling, being grabbed teased etc then my friend, a woman can dress "MODEST" even without wearing a hijab!

I think (I could be wrong)what she means is, that at one point the traditional dress was adopted to protect women. Today in some countries that dress would be putting women in danger so adopting another style of dress would be more protective. I do think you could still dress modestly. So it's about the intent of the dress not the style of dress itself that matters.

She's mixing between Hijab [Head cover] and Niqab [face cover]. While the Headcover is required every time and mandatory for every woman, the Niqab [according to majority of scholars is optional] but becomes mandatory if there's a danger of harassment in the society. So, telling people that Hijab or headscarf is not required is a deceiving and has nothing to do with Islam. Hope this would resolve the misconception.

Chapter 24 verse 31: “LET them throw their [head] covers over their bosoms.” Where does it say they HAVE to wear a head cover??? “He has only forbidden you carrion, blood and pork and what has been consecrated to other than God...” (2:173). “God has permitted trade and He has forbidden usury...” (Qur'an, 2:275) Here it is 100% clear what is and is not allowed. But nowhere in 24:31 is it using words that have 100% clarity when it comes to head coverings. “LET them wear head coverings to cover their bosoms” is not the same as “THEY MUST wear...” LET is optional and not a requirement. If God wants women to not show their hair/head he could be clear like using “Forbidden or Permitted” But He didn’t. I can 100% say that God didn’t say covering their head is ‘Required’ (because it’s No Where in the Quran) and God didn’t say it’s ‘Forbidden’ for woman to show head/hair (because that is not mentioned anywhere) Scholars are not God. If they interpret that word as ‘head cover’ instead of ‘cover’ you can’t say that’s 100% what God meant. And you can’t 100% agree with scholars on this topic. You can’t even 50% agree with them because there’s nothing in the Quran ‘Requiring’ women to wear head covers. “Wow the scholars said women must cover their head. I’m going to blindly agree with them because I saw ‘head cover’ in the Quran.” No, that verse can be interpreted as “LET woman wear their head cover (being an object and not necessarily a requirement) to cover their bosoms” meaning use something/anything to cover your bosom. If that something is your head cover, you are allowed (not required) to use it.
@tylerwoods64075 жыл бұрын
The head coverings are a cultural thing. It’s not at all a “Requirement” by God. Just like a wife being “Required” to cook for her husband. The Quran NEVER says that’s a requirement, it says the must feed their “children” the word husband never appears. Just like in this it doesn’t “Require” any woman to cover their hair. If you’re going to believe anything, it should be what’s written in your book (comes straight from God) and not someone who isn’t God’s OPINION. Scholars are just saying their OPINIONS for verse. Scholars are not God. You should accept what’s being said in the book instead of what he(scholar) Think/Assume.
@siemensbot59405 жыл бұрын
Shut up if you dont know anything. The Quran isnt the only sources of islam.
@EconExpo5 жыл бұрын
Siemensbot “the worst Muslim criminal amongst other Muslims, is the one who asks questions about something that was not made prohibited on the people, then it becomes prohibited as a result of his questioning” this is from the Quran. It’s God’s own words. And this is exactly what some of those “other sources” do. Scholars only for their opinion/interpretation of the Quran. Are they a more reliable source then the Quran? More reliable then God’s word? The only other source from the Quran and scholars are the Hadith. The Hadith is written by people who’ve eye witnessed the prophet (saws). Are eye witness more reliable then God’s Book? God has even told the prophet to not declare something as Required or Forbidden if He (God) has not claimed that: “O Prophet! Why holdest thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee? ”. If the prophet can’t do it, why should anyone else? This shows the seriousness of this. In conclusion God does not like any to declare something as a requirement or as forbidden if it is not Clearly mentioned in the Quran. Even if the prophet said something is allowed/forbidden that’s not mentioned in the Quran, it should not be associated with Islam. So the Quran can be considered an only source if the other sources claim a topic (like headcovering) to be Required/Forbidden if the Quran doesn’t clearly mention it (which it doesn’t, it’s only scholars claiming that). But if you want to believe in opinions of others rather then the Quran, that’s up to you. Source of the quotes: Quran (66:1), and Collected by Bukhaari and Muslim Other quotes “But say not - for any false thing that your tongues may put forth,- “This is lawful, and this is forbidden,” so as to ascribe false things to Allah. For those who ascribe false things to Allah, will never prosper” Quran (16:116) “This includes everyone who comes up with an innovation (Bid`ah) for which he has no evidence from the Shari`ah, or whoever declares something lawful that Allah has forbidden, or whoever declares something unlawful that Allah has permitted, only because it suits his opinions or whim to do so.” Tafsir Ibn Kathir (16:116).

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. [24:31] Allah, جل جلاله, uses the word “tell” in the verse above, not ‘recommended’. In Arabic, the word is قل، which once again is a way to express order. The ayah also says “and wrap a portion of their head covers...” this indicates that the women of the time were ALREADY covering their hair! If the women were doing this, which is a form of modesty, in the Age of Ignorance, then don’t you think that it’s even more encouraged in Islam? I’ll tell you about another Hadith, and I’m sure you know about it, which is why I won’t put a source, if you’d like one, let me know. When the Prophet (PBUH) first entered Madinah, he observed that the Jews were fasting. So he asked him why they were, and they said that this was the day that Allah destroyed Firaun and his army, and they fast that day as thanks. Did the prophet (PBUH) abolish the act? No. This is what he said to his companions: 'You have more right to Musa than they do, so fast on that day.' This indicated that there is no need to remove something good from your daily life. One last point is, our Mother, Aisha, (may Allah be pleased with her), who was a better believer then all of us, used to cover her hair. So who are we to go against what she used to do? I know I said that the previous point would be my last, but I just remembered a few things. It is also narrated that Aisha (RA) said: “The women of Quraysh are good, but by Allaah I have never seen any better than the women of the Ansaar, or any who believed the Book of Allaah more strongly or had more faith in the Revelation. When Soorat al-Noor was revealed - “and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna” - their menfolk came to them and recited to them what had been revealed, and there was not one woman among them who did not go to her apron, and the following morning they prayed wrapped up as if there were crows on their heads. This Hadith has emphasis on their clothes covering their heads, why would their be such emphasis on that if it was not something important? Furthermore, when a woman prays she is required to cover her head and hair, because that is what is beautiful to Allah. And my last point (for real this time) is, the majority of the scholars have said that it is Wajib to wear the hijab. Now who are you to go against what learned people have said? And those who have said that it is compulsory are a far, far, larger group than those who have said otherwise. و الله أعلم و صلى الله على نبينا محمد
