Naruto is the OG for THAT meme. You have to remember that Lee only lost in about the last minute of a very long fight. There is enough material there, that he could change the outcome of a fight, if he wanted to. I think he shortened the fights between him, Sasuke, and Naruto. There are a few spots where Lee had the clear upper hand. Besides, this series is for laughs. It would be too depressing & would probably serve little purpose to follow Lee's "Never be a ninja again" story to its completion. It would probably make the arcs too long in this somewhat abridged series as well. In fact, he might be able to use the final scenes of the fight first, and present that as Lee and Gaara "Playing around".
