I reckon Aster being bland is kind of the point. She's never really lived her life for herself? She's lived it for her dad, her church, Trig 🤢 and the white people of the town. And even though she's a minority she's so white because she's so concerned with fitting in. And Ellie has accepted she'll never be like the rest of them and is okay with that. Hence why she's so hotter compared to Aster.

But the thing is, she *doesn't* want to fit in with them, which is why that's a concern she brings up with Ellie, that she's kind of forced to fit in just because she's a pretty girl and she ought to be like the rest of the pretty girls. The white girls just basically want her around because she's pretty and Trig's her bf, but they never really accepted her because she's not privileged. They even laugh about her family not owning their house during the bathroom scene where Ellie was present. I never really understood why she was considered bland by a lot of people when she does in fact, have the same struggles with Paul and Ellie regarding fitting in and just accepting your fate in HELLquamish. I mean...it is bad to be in her position, being the pastor's daughter and obligated to have a traditional future where she marries at a young age into a good family and be a good Christian. Which is why it's so refreshing for her to hear Ellie just casually say she doesn't believe in god but not in an offensive way. That it's just how she is.

Please watch “She-Ra”, it’s a completed Netflix series and the amount of diversity and lgbt+ representation is so so so good and seamlessly integrated!! It’s a cartoon but handles heavier themes well and it honestly has so much gay especially for a show that doesn’t revolve around lgbt issues. I highly recommend it!

Despite the boring start and well...cgi (understandable since it's a low-budget series) it kinda picks up for s2 and 3 and even looking forward for the fourth. I started this video and then went to watch The Half of it after you guys mentioned it and I really enjoyed!! I lowkey disagree that Aster was boring though, just because she had so much potential. Like I fully relate to being a small-town religious kid struggling with what they believe in and looking for a way to get out. I think the only reason she comes off as boring is because she's not the main character and you don't really see a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff that I think definitely would be showcased if she was. It was a fun and quirky lil movie regardless, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the mention! :p
