Eunha was incredible here and always is! She was probably the most impressive in this killing voice honestly.

Yuju was sick during the recording. She said it herself. Also, her singing technique has far improved and healthier. She also became stylistic with her vowels which is far different from her Full, Loud voice during her early days. Her voice matured a lot, and has found her tone that is far different from GF genre. Her placements has drastically improved, and she is nearing her srcond peak- with a different singing style.

I have to admit when i first watched that video on my own, i had a very big smile on my face and maybe some teary eyes. i missed them so much together. After all, i followed them since the 'Me gusta tu' era so for a very long time. They are maybe not my number one anymore now (GFRIEND had been my number one for years), but they are and always will be definitely my number two group and still so very precious to me.

about yuju, we wonder about that too. but i guess it was just bcs of her regression and she's soing some ways to avoid damaging her voice even more. she's singing in such a way she's also helping her voice heal. so it's safe to assume she has two vocal placements. last year she actually sang in that "old voice" we use to hesr and she belted me gustas tu in the same note, same fullness, same resonance... she's actually so smart. at this point this is like a stylistic choice to help herself. their old tts did her and eunha really bad.

@@Jinha_richiii yesss but yuju and ariana are in different case. ariana has like a solid vocals chords she managed to get back. yuju, it'll take her long years but she still can sing it like that, she just have to be very careful. you can listen to when they sing as ot6 on their staff wedding, you can literally hear her old technique. it was just so unhealthy for her that she gets easily sick just like this one.

I first cried a lot with Killing Voice when KARA performed there. My first fav kpop group. Two years later, we got GFRIEND. Needless to say I was all over the place, ugly crying again... Yuju's voice has been more reserved since early 2019 with their song Sunrise. I remember there being a noticable tonal difference. She had a hiatus a bit after the release of Sunny Summer late 2018, maybe due to vocal exhaustion, leading to her singing in a way that will preserve her voice better, and she ended up choosing to keep singing that way. Buddys will hate me for saying this also, (I remember people getting flamed for mentioning this when it happened) but I'm pretty sure SouMu messed around with her bone structure around that time and she ended up losing some resonance.

GFRIEND last 2 albums 'Song of the Siren' (title track: Apple) and 'Walpurgis Night'(title track: Mago) concepts was like about modern Witches, so both album have songs about Tarot cards spells. lol Also yeah, Flower was a Japanese release but later they did release a Korean version, they also did that for their other Japanese release like, they did released some Japanese version of some of their Korean songs. Edit: Happy to see that i am not the only one who noticed that Yuju voice was a little different, she still sound great but her voice sound less full and more light that how i would put it in words. Maybe she has a cold or voice problems, maybe it was the emotions, maybe she was very nervous. Also, right now Yuju is not with any company, so she is kind of jobless, so maybe she has not sing or practice for many months. That could explain her voice change here.

As for Yuju's singing, yeah I kinda noticed there was something slightly off with her voice. Idk if she's sick or just nervous, it's not bad. Now, I'm no expert on vocals so don't take me too seriously here cause I might be completely off. But I feel like Yuju either suffered some vocal damage or had a hard mental block at some point throughout GFRIEND's career. I'm thinking about that period back in 2018 where she just disappeared for a few months and she nor the company ever confirmed why. In earlier Gfriend songs, Yuju basically hard carried the group's vocal runs and high notes. She was constantly belting and hitting the piercing high notes then around 2018-2019, they seemed to shift and Eunha (and sometimes SinB and Umji) started doing the high notes. I think part of it was to give the other girls a chance to do more completx parts and to give Yuju's voice a break. But I'm also kinda wondering if she stopped because she was damaging her voice or because she might've developed like, stage fright over it. Even in Yuju's solo music we don't see her go crazy high anymore. Don't get me wrong, she's still an amazing singer and can do amazing things with her voice, this was just something I've noticed over the years.

It's just something I've noticed about Yuju's singing over the years because she is one of my absolute favorite vocalists in Kpop so I've listened to her and GFRIEND a lot. I was just putting my thoughts down in writing. I promise I'm not complaining or trying to talk Yuju down, it was just an observation. Like I said, don't take what I said as a fact because I'm not an expert at the end of the day.

@coolgirl312 it's just that overanalyzing her condition is just annoying not only for fans but for yuju herself since she's become very aware of it. She knows herself and she knows her skill, her condition and what's vest for her, she already knows it. These overanalyzation is like pointing out pimples on someone who deals with acne, they already know they have it. Just enjoy and watch her performance it's not that hard.

i giggled when you said they gotta use rainbow in a pride event 😂 that song literally is the one they used during a certain time in pride month in korea. so koreans know that especially the gays 😂 that song is from a repackage album, the title track in that album if summer rain. rainbow is a bside. also, some of the members expect yuju and umji (english speakers) they always sing it "le-in-bow" since they can't pronounce english in a song that fast. now there's changes, they can say rainbow straight out of their mouth. also i think u missed the part in the rainbow chorus where they harmonize that's so beautiful!!!!

I'm so so happy to see all 6 of them singing together again. Their disbandment was the first Kpop group's disbandment that I actually cried over. It was just so sudden and I wasn't prepared for it. It feels like home hearing them together. I can't wait for their upcoming reunion. To be fair, most the song they perform on Killing Voice are often title tracks and some of there more popular songs, none of GFRIEND's title tracks and only a few of their b-sides have rap in it, so it's not surprising they didn't rap here.

Great to see you back with Gfriend on Killing Voice. It's such an incredible event that took so long to happen. I am all smiles. Such a beautiful outing for the girls. Love their voices. All of them show great control in all the songs. I agree with you about Yuju's voice. She sounded great as expected. However, it did seem that she needed to work harder to push her sound out, even though it didn't diminish the quality of her performance. I just love seeing them here singing all together.

Yuju and Sowon were indeed sick that day, they shot this on the last week of November when the weather in SK dramatically changed. I think they couldn't reschedule it because Yuju was bound to fly to Taiwan that week for the final ep of the survival that she was mentoring and Viviz were working on the christmas mv of BPM. Too bad but that's the struggle of a group being in different companies and we appreciate them trying their best to reunite for this anniversary. 😭

Also, people saying Yuju has regressed and that she can't sing like before need to stop acting like they're vocal coaches when the reality is that both Yuju and Sowon had a cold that day!!! From my observation, each and every one of them have improved throughout the years they endeavoured each careers. I remember Sowon kept bragging to the members prior to this recording that she improved her vocals which they also approved of. Yuju found a way to take care of her vocals which is very great. Yerin's vocability improved also especially with her recent EP. She explored a lot of genre and she might become an ace 👏 of course, VIVIZ kept training and so are their choice of music from their recent EPs also helped them stabilize even more. I love this group very much! I'm just a little sad the Season of Memories i ordered in Ktown4u is delayed 🤧 i will be receiving it by March instead of February 😭

Sir Austin, you need to check out the B-sides of GFRIEND's discography or the concerts or you will be missing 95% of the GRIEND experience. Every self-respecting Buddy knows Rainbow, Here we are, Eclipse and other gems like You are not alone.. Obviously Yuju and Sowon have a cold, because apart from Yuju's unusual tone Sowon was coughing frequently... But that didn't matter because they put on a demonstration of extraordinary vocal talent. I thought I had noticed Yuju really holding back and struggling (with like high notes and holding longer notes in general) the last couple years of gfriend which I assumed was maybe her vocals being damaged from the strain of some of their songs. I also noticed how eunha kinda stepped up on longer higher notes and yuju stayed back a little those last couple years and when theyd sing their older songs where yuju had the majority of lines and high notes she seemed to be struggling (i had assumed shed been resting her damaged vocals but what do I know). I think I had started to notice it during crossroads era And now when I listen to her now just like I did that last year of gfriend Ive just felt like shes protecting her voice by singing a certain way bcus idk her voice sounds different maybe shes just more nasally now and im mistaking it cus again what do I know but i have seen other buddy with similar thought process on this bcus she does sound and sing differently then she did the first 3/4 of their career imo and she seems to approach and struggle with her gfriend songs but I also do feel like shes actually sounding better here then I heard her sing in the last year of gfriend bcus in their older song when she was singing them and also during encore stages when gfriend won her voice just sounded off and a little struggling but here it feels like shes gotten a bit better so im really assuming she had some sort of damage that may be slowly healing

Tbh. GFriend Line Distribution is a bit unfair. These girls has so much potential that their prev company waste it. Theh overwork Yuju's voice by giving all the high notes. Eunha as well. They make the girls have this high pitching sounds when they have a natural flavor of ther vocals. Yeri for example has a capability to reach it but since there's lack of vocal training it was restrain like the others. I wish these companies will treat their respective artists right not just on GFriend but to others as well.

Yuju stopped regressing since 2020- 4 years already. Her technique had changed (and much more healthy) and she has a stylistic way of singing lately which was far different from her full, loud voice in their early days. That is the reason of the change in tone.
