Henk Poort did mention in the episode that he was very nervous for this performance. Like you said, in opera, distortion is a big no-no. He took a 2-hour lesson to be able to do this! :D Much respect!

He did the Disturbed version of this song for Floor. It is her favorite version. When she was little her father played the Simon and Garfunkle song all of the time. He went out of his comfort zone for Floor.Thank you for doing the songs from this show.............. :-)

It’s a classic but to be honest, this is the first time I really liked the song. Henk went way out of his comfort zone just to perform it like this Floor. So very special. He was nervous for various reasons, one of those being like you point out that it’s frowned upon when opera singers use distortion. I am grateful he did, because it is magical :) ... btw this is the version done by Disturbed :)

Not much to say about this, other than... THAT is our beloved "Uncle" Henk. Henk has seen it all, has done it all, he was the Phantom in the Dutch and the English version and Henk is a wonderful person. He brings out the very best out of people he performs with, he has a way to assure others to not be nervous and just have fun, to go for it, and that always shows, the man is magic! Thnx for the upload! :D

Henk Poort did really good job with this song, I was also really surprised when heard first time. Reacting much similar way than you now. And watched this video several times... Mostly we Nightwish fans came to look this Beste Zangers show cos Floor, but then learned to love those other singers also. But week after week we just waited, hoped that week goes quickly, what Floor will sing next. Never disappointed! There was feeling she just lift the bar every time... And if somebody of us was not yet in love to her, then definitely after this show has lost heart to her.

Muito bom,sua reação foi igual a minha quando ele cantou com distorção.Eu assisti esse episódio da tv Holandesa onde a pessoa homenageada era a Floor Jansen e ele estava nervoso antes da apresentação pois nunca tinha usado distorção na voz antes,já que ele é um cantor clássico de opera.Mas como a Floor Jansen gostava da versão feita pelo Disturbed,ele cantou pra ela,foi emocionante,vc vê pela reação dela durante a apresentação.Não sei se vc sabe mas a Floor é fã do Henk desde garotinha,quando viu ele interpretando o Fantasma da Opera.Na entrevista logo no inicio do programa ela fala isso,que ele foi uma grande inspiração pra ela começar a cantar.

*Henk's distortion* : before he and the other singers flew down (in Spring) to resort Atzaró on Ibiza Island for tv show BesteZangers, Henk Poort learned the distortion singing technique in Amsterdam within 2 hours with his vocal coaches Alberto ter Doest and Daan Smits. They are certified UVS voice coaches at the Universal Voice Institute in Amsterdam. UVS (Universal Voice system) is a simple and clear system to get the most out of your voice. Concordo, toda a gente fica impressionada com esta versão do Henk, que não teve receio de sair da sua zona de conforto neste programa. :D Ficarei à espera da próxima reação. Como ainda não reagistes à Romanticide dos Nightwish, pode bem ser a próxima. As participações da Floor no programa valem todas a pena, deixa o melhor para o fim, o dueto dela com o Henk no Phantom of the Opera. Cuidado com a falta de pausas, ainda começam a cair os strikes...

Wasn't that incredible. henk added the distortion for the first time in his life, especially to honor Floor. Did you see how emotional Floor got at the end of the song. She loved it!
