im currently in the process of using natural skincare products. I use a baking soda/turmeric mix while in the shower as an exfoliator, leave toothpaste (yes, toothpaste) on my hyperpigmentation areas for 2-5 mins, then black soap & aloe vera after. then Shea butter as a moisturizer. It’s working pretty well with MY skin as I’m seeing a clearer complexion & my hyperpigmentation is clearing. I think everyone has a different skin type & everyones skin reacts different to certain things. That’s why I’ll never say what works or doesn’t work with peoples skin. holistic approaches work for me so that’s what im sticking with. I recommend the same for anyone. Find what works for YOU and stick to it. Everyone has an opinion, but no one knows what works for you except you.

hydroquinone is a toxic skin lightening agent which can actually damage the pigment cells causing more hyperpigmentation and most of those creams also contain mercury which is also toxic. Mixing baking soda, lemon juice, toothpaste, and coconut oil together. Let it sit for awhile. (really dries up your pimples. When you used it once weekly until your pimples goes away.) Then you can used it periodically. continue using just the toothpaste (colgate) once a week keeps your skin smooth and clean. Also oil it slightly with natural coconut oil, and triple antibiotic cream. You will not get blackheads, your black spots will disappear and to help prevent recurrences use AMBI skin tone cream and black soap. Slightly touch your face and neck with Shea Butter by using your hands and fingers, massages well! You'll get soft smooth silky young looking skin. Don't let the speaker dis-encourage your with her snide encounter. For those who has sensitive skin let your dermatologist recommendations antibiotic 3× triple dose.

Tried a DIY face Tx with lemon and baking soda and it burned my skin and made my hyperpigmentation worse. 2% hydroquinone products may work for dark spots from acne. I definitely tried the baking soda and honey cleanser situation over 10 years ago and it wasn’t terrible for me personally but there was definitely no reduction in acne or dark marks. Olive oil breaks me out so bad! 🥴 it’s too high in oleic acid . I love witch hazel but it has to be pure, not distilled in alcohol. Steaming is fine in low doses for oily skin but dry skin people should not ever steam their face according to dermatologists and estheticians

My best friend’s Kiana’s mom is an dermatologist, and her older sister Taylor is a esthetician….I recently went to visit them just to talk with them about DIY skincare specifically citrus products, coconut oil, and witch hazel…..They both told me that using any type of citrus ingredients/products on your face like straight up lime, lemon, orange, etc, coconut oil, and witch hazel….not good. Taylor explained to me that when she was younger (she’s 4 years older than me….I’m 22) one of her classmates told her that using oranges and lemons would help clear her dark spots….So she tried it because she had really bad dark spots in middle school….not only did her dark spots not lighten up and go away, but she developed a few rashes and burns on her cheeks. At first she and her classmate thought that it was an allergic reaction, but then her mother told her that using any type of citrus products or even fruits directly on your face, is pretty much asking for sensitivity and possible break outs. She tried using coconut oil, her mom wouldn’t allow it because coconut oil while it’s good for cooking, cleaning, and sometimes hair…..for the face, if it’s just straight up and pure coconut oil, it’s comedogenic and more likely to clog the pores. Once Taylor got older and started getting more into skincare, she tried using witch hazel…..it completely tried out her skin, she found out that witch hazel is a natural astringent that dries you out….She already has dry skin so why would she wanna make it even more dry? Now she’s 26 years old, and she started training to become an esthetician at 21 years old….her whole journey with DIY skincare, and witch hazel and just the disaster that it was for her, is the reason for why she became an esthetician, and her mother actually deals with a lot of women who use DIY skincare….most of them including herself and Taylor….are of course black women.

Yes, baking soda really works in shrinking pores, and I also agree with you it’s not for everyone and you can not use it everyday. I love your channel never understand why grown people don’t do their own research. Most of us will try anything, and stand for nothing. But I have a natural routine that I do every time I wash my face and that is after every wash is my final rinse is cold water, and here’s how gradually began to cool down water until I get it cold as I can stand it, now I just clean my face than rinse with cold water I’ve done this for so many years the cold water don’t bother me now, I have noticed smaller pores and my skin appears to be tighter and also I tried something I got from your channel and that is to put my moisturizer 01 My Way to face I do not try my face I go immediately into putting my moisturizer on and then I put a thin layer of argon oil on and done. Okay, here’s my current skin story lol. In January of this year I tried to revert back to a brand and their products that worked wonders for me and the past and had a horrible skin reaction that left me clueless. And from that day I decided to stop everything and only begin to wash with water, yes only water. At night I didn’t even apply moisturizer bc I was afraid. In the morning I used my black girl sunscreen. And I continue to this day, now I add my tretinoid and Indian clay mask into the routine, also a vitamin c toner which is very light. So yes, I don’t wash my face with a soap anymore and it’s working for me. I moist a paper towel with water, wipe down, splash with water and put on my moisturizer. I don’t think I can go back to a soap, I tried and broke out.

There is a myth out there that says you have to be a chemist to formulate skin care. You don't, but it is best to take a formulating course to learn about the ingredients and how they work together. There are many skin and hair care products we are using that were not created by chemist but certified formulators. There are many estheticians who are not chemist but have their own skin care lines.
@styleandbeautydoctor2 жыл бұрын
hey---a lot of those products you're referring to are still made by cosmetic chemists. An esthetician or influencer or whoever can develop the idea of a skincare line and have input as to which ingredients go into it, but a cosmetic chemist still ultimately makes it. Many of the brands who make homemade products in the beginning who then go on to mass produce or get bought by another company often have their products reformulated by cosmetic chemists. But in the instances you mentioned, the person usually has more knowledge of skin whereas the average person I spoke of watching these type of videos, does not.

I put oil on my face, always virgin/organic, grape seed, coconut oil, rice bran,etc, then I mix bicarbonate of soda with colloidal silver water, about a teaspoon full. I put it on my face & armpits, it detoxes the armpits. After 3-5min I put face wash with water & exfoliate the bicarb off & rinse my face,then I tone with colloidal silver, witch hazel, rose water mix on a cotton pad. I wipe my armpits with the cotton pad too. Then I put on a matifying face cream with a smidge of coconut oil. My skin loves this once a week or so.

My mom used baking soda and lemon to clear her dark knees but that part of your body can take it I guess

Baking soda is a staple in my skin regime, it keeps dark spots in my body at bay.

Don’t use lemon juice. Lemon in actual skincare products is fine unless you have sensitive skin. If you do diy skincare with lemons you have know way of regulating the acidity in a lemon

I do not promote sunscreen to everyone. Ask me how I know! Sunscreen and I aren't friends. WE DON'T GET ALONG VERY WELL... It breaks me out! #Sensitiveskin

What worked for HER may just as well work for OTHERS, what Doesn't work for SOME may just as well NOT work for OTHERS. Noone's skin is the same. (Trying/Testing is the only way to find out) you must know your skin Do's and Don't.. I used lemon on my skin some yrs ago, TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL, Yes♥️ over the yrs your skin changes with aging. So now I would not use lemon, it would be too harsh. However, I do use Greek yogurt and organic honey once to twice a week, Beautiful glow without irritations. That's for my skin👍🏾.... now the product that she's mentioning Ripped the skin off my face "Literally, real talk" at a distance, ppl thought I had on red blush, no baby my skin is burnt😭... So I've tried those types of Toner, cleansing etc and WILL NEVER EVER TRY THEM AGAIN. That's my skin👍🏾

Lol, how people think that what they put on their skin should be better quality than what they eat or ingest, if you can't put the olive 🫒 oil from your cabinet on your skin, then you aren't eating healthy!

That's not how this works..lol. Your digestive system has acids that help break down food among other things. Your skin works very differently.
