Nah Wattpad got very tame during the last three-four years, since they put up a bunch of regulations and started deleting things, believe me there was a time during which you could type in any random word follow by 'fic' and get a multitude of stories that made you feel like you had just taken some experimental drugs, those were the good days

I only read fanfics on ao3 and some of my favorite are wonder which is a bts fanfic and its absolutely heart breaking, another is Barnes motor inc. which is a tonyXbucky fanfic without any super hero thing, it has alpha omega in it but it almost has no smut other than a few scenes, its a comfort fic. And I think a lot of people know about All the young dudes a marauders fanfic, the most popular harry potter fanfiction.

Ok jokes aside I'm so glad you guys clarified about AO3! I feel like this type of content usually only highlights "bad wattpad fanfictions" and could possibly generalize all fanfictions as bad literature. But there are actually so many good and well written fanfictions I've read (mostly on AO3 tbh and sometimes you still have to filter out the weird stuff). Many fanfics I've read are imo better than "real" or published literature. Sometimes I cant believe we can read those for free and fanfic writers actually took the time to write those even though theyre not paid to do that obviously. SORRY FOR THE RANT but I really recommend reading fanfictions if you're in a fandom because it truly enhances our experience as a fan lol

There are also some good ones. There are The Seven Devils by thesehunprint which is better than most fantasy books, imo. It tells the story of how Tom Riddle became Voldemort from Varya’s POV, so it takes place during WW2. She’s from a school for dark arts in Romania, and also Romanian folklore plays a huge role here (thank you, author, for finally representing Eastern Europe so beautifully, and not just with Viktor Krum’s sister, Bluebelle or whatever). She’s one of the strongest FMC out there. All of the characters are really fleshed out; everything doesn’t revolve around Varya and Tom; everyone has their own thing going for them, especially in the second book. And don’t get me started on the writing style. Pure perfection.

@Chaeerie I read it because I came across a playlist about it and I was like, yes, let’s try it. Best decision of the year. It reintroduced me to reading, and it’s now my comfort book. And the author’s book recommendations are also really good. I read The Cruel Prince, House of Salt and Sorrows, The Bone Houses, Heartless and The Secret History because of her, and 4/5 are 5 stars for me.
