I noticed he used to have a massive "cave in" a.k.a. his knees point inwards during the stand-up and any squat he did, but now he keeps his knees in the right place, over each foot. Improvements in technique as well.
@cheeks7050Ай бұрын
That's called getting stronger. Chuck a few more kg on the bar and watch his knees cave like before. Knees go in as the adductors assist in extending the hip, as long as balance is preserved it is not a bad thing, it might even by mechanically advantageous, which is why the body does it reflexively. It's not 'better technique' to have 0 knee cave, if you had to sacrifice some weight to do it.
@AWhistlingWolfАй бұрын
@ He did it on his max weight attempts and now he doesn't while lifting 10 kg more, the level of effort was similar since he was hitting his max each time. I would say it's both an improvement in strength and in technique.

Our federation (Bulgaria) gives bonuses per broken WR. Not by how much the record gets broken. So, its better for Karlos to break each record by 1 kilo each time. That way he would get the most in bonuses .. So 183, 225 is spot on on what he’ll probably do in a few days
@JohnDoherty-dl2fzАй бұрын
If that’s the case then why did Karlos tie the world record total in Phuket on his 1st attempt cl& jk and then jump 8 kg to obliterate the record ( ok it was cl & jk record also. If he played his cards well he could have had at least 2 world record totals even though he failed at 224 twice.
@NUFCtillidie9Ай бұрын
@@JohnDoherty-dl2fz no idea 🤷♂️ maybe cause he’s a young stud 🤣 fact of the matter is weather they break a WR by 1 or by 10 they still get paid the same. Maybe he wanted to make a statement dont know

Karlos is like the new Andrei Aramnau, dominating everything and lifting world records as a 20-year-old. Just hope he doesn't get injured like Aramnau who chased Yuri Zaharevich's records (210,250) and got a lot of injuries. That's why people love Karlos, even if he won the olympics, he doesn't rest like Akbar Djuraev and Liu Huanhua. But he competes and lifts world records for the fans.

@MellonVeganАй бұрын
13:15 That really depends on his mini-max, so wherever his weakness is. I know people (including myself) who will either make a bench attempt look easy or fail entirely bc they fail right at the chest. That being said, that usually goes for max grip benches and it didn't look like that for him. Honestly can't tell what his max would be, it'd just be a wild guess. Compared to the best IPF lifters, that's still quite far away. Then again, once you get to certain loads, there is quite some difference between the top couple guys in the SHW division. He is now ranked 291 of all time (among tested lifters) without weight restrictions. His DOTS score is 454, which is certainly better than I have done but not national level in competitive federations, I don't think. That squat is pretty big though. Quite a ways away from the tested WR but ranked 81 of all time among tested lifters. And to be fair, his total is near the biggest totals I have seen in person (although the people I have seen total in this range were a lot lighter). All that said, that's huge for a first PL meet, especially if you consider that he might not have trained for this (much). And yeah, I compared him to the very best. He is obviously in the 99th percentile. 8th biggest tested total in NZ and 2nd biggest tested squat.

Of course, but the best weightlifter squat is at 400 KG, that is for a sport where you don´t compete with a back squat, since it's an accessory lift. 370 is still amazingly good. Not the best in Powerlifting for obvious reasons.

Kinda sad about Max Lang not going to Olympics even once, he competed in 3 Olympic cycles. Very competitive at Europeans (3rd to 6th overall was normal) and sometimes top 10 at worlds. He had his own KZbin channel for a few years. Can’t believe that BS about Andreev. Won Europeans last year, Bronze medal in Paris and they won’t pay him appropriately. Prime candidate to lift for another country. Kosovo isn’t far from Bulgaria. Why not go join Rostami and establish a new powerhouse in Europe. Seb you used the word outlier to describe Karlos. I agree but another superb lifter who wasn’t mentioned among the great 90-96’s was my boyhood hero David Rigert. Many times EC and WC in the 70s and undefeated from 71-80 tho he did bomb in 2 Olympics which he should have won easily.

@@mybloodxmybloodx9788 The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) owns the broadcast rights for its events, including the World Championships, and partners with agencies like SPORTFIVE to manage them. Organizations like Weightlifting House must negotiate and pay for licensing these rights, whose costs depend on the event and audience size. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) typically handles filming, providing a basic feed, while entities may enhance the broadcast with their own commentary and, occasionally, additional camera work.
