I also think your upbringing and how your parents raised you, their values & how they talk about themselves & their children, impacts a child's self-confidence-- I remember reading an article about how self- confidence begins forming pretty young and it comes from how we "talk to" and see ourselves internally ,, and parents def help to shape how their children view themselves. So maybe Jessica's mother was overly critical (of herself & her daughter) which caused her to be critical of herself and lack self confidence 🤔 kind of an interesting tangent

Jessica had low self-esteem. When she said something along the lines of, "no offense Kristin but you can get anyone you want, I can't do that" it was very telling to me. I think the thought that if she left Jason it would be hard to find somebody else or somebody as "hot" as Jason. I hope with age, her self-esteem increased.
