It’s so interesting watching Rocky, who is arguably the most confident cast member this season, and contrasting her a little with Kristin the last 2 seasons. Both girls are super confident, aren’t afraid to stick up for themselves, loyal friends… but TOTALLY different vibes. Is it weird how much I’m loving being a fly on the wall??

Brianna pulled a classic power move In the female world. She got called out for being mean and excluding rocky, she didn’t like it, and twisted it behind Rocky’s back to be a different situation than it was. She KNEW the other girls didn’t like rocky already and would believe her. I hope she is ashamed of her behavior and lying about their meet up. I honestly hope all those mean girls are ashamed of how mean they were.

I heard the reason why Kelan was uncomfortable during the dinner was because Kelan’s family doesn’t have as much money as the other three, which is why he kept referencing going to Taco Bell. Chase was wrong for suggesting such an expensive restaurant when his friend can’t afford to eat there. And it looks hella shady that he sat in front of Lexi if he was trying to set Kelan up with her.

Theory: Breanna thought she would be the next LC, and her friend group would be Rocky and Lexie, but MTV didn’t think Breanna was right as the star, so they picked Tessa instead, and Rocky staying friends with Tessa made Breanna mad bc it’s like she lost the show to Tessa kind of. But they can’t say that’s the reason for the beef bc it would break the 4th wall. And maybe Rocky not going to Breanna’s 16th bday unless she could bring Tessa was bc MTV was following Tessa and Rocky mainly, and Rocky didn’t want to be mean to Tessa, so MTV didn’t even film Breanna’s 16th bday party, which made Breanna extra mad. But in order to film this last party at Breanna’s house, Rocky had to be there. Which is why they tried to “make up” at lunch, but then she completely ignored her at the party. MTV wants to keep Breanna for the LC crossover scenes though, so they don’t want her totally off the show, but they also don’t want to film her unless she’s with Lauren or other main cast members. Just some ideas! I love watching these! Thanks for making me laugh so much!

Rocky would have made so much more sense as a main character. She had that kind of maturity Lauren and Kristen had (being able to stand up for themselves) but was also definitely still a naive teenager. Plus, she had the same classic story as Tessa, being the girl who used to be part of the popular girls but had been kicked out. Only she had more charisma than Tessa, and a much more coherent story arc.

Tessa did an interview on it. She had Stevens-Johnson syndrome where her body was covered in blisters and she lost all her hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes. She said she was friends with the other girls but when she got the disease, they stopped talking to her, stating that Tessa was mean to them, not because of her disease. But Rocky always stuck by her side through it all.

This is all I heard from Breanna: We were best friends in middle school. I know, right? It's so embarrassing. I don't even... whatever. So then in eighth grade, I started going out with my first boyfriend, Kyle, who was totally gorgeous. But then he moved to Indiana, and Rocky was like, weirdly jealous of him. Like, if I would blow her off to hang out with Kyle, she'd be like "Why didn't you call me back?". And I'd be like "Why are you so obsessed with me?"

So all the girls were friends and Tessa had a skin condition and got really sick for months. She was in the hospital and only Chase saw her because he was her best friend/boyfriend at the time. Also, the girls were jealous of Tessa because she was a model for brands like Roxy and a lot of surf/snowboarding/sports brands and would do expo shows and stuff like that. Tessa was cute and a model and Kyndra used to be fat in middle school/high school so they were definitely jealous of her.

There used to be another YT channel in which the host interviewed quite a few people from Laguna Beach. One of them included an interview with Cami and Kyndra together. This was about 3 years ago and they seemed like older versions of what we saw on the show. The stream had been done live and you can see viewers asking questions and making mean comments about Rocky. Cami and Kyndra would laugh and act snarky while never offering to defend Rocky. After seeing that, I have to agree that they can’t use the editing excuse here.

In an episode coming up she kinda talks about it but she just said she had an allergic reaction to a medication she was taking & it sounded like the "mean girls" were really absent during that time or ditched her. Maybe there's more to it but as the years pass I feel even more strongly that Tessa & Raquel rubbed the girls the wrong way b/c of their maturity and looks because out of all of them, I'd want to hang out with them over kyndra or lexi. It’s interesting when these seasons originally aired how different the teaser / preview for each season is. For example, they really played up Casey in the trailer for S2 as if she’d be a primary focus and the trailer kind of did the same for Breanna in S3. Both ended up appearing, but on a much more limited basis. Seems like they had to pivot based on the footage they ended up with in both instances. Breanna seems nice but given how limited her involved was, it’s funny she was listed on the opening credits, whereas Alex H., who pretty much appeared and contributed in every episode of S2, was not mentioned - seems like that definitely had something to do with her being LCs sister and the show trying to piggyback on LCs popularity and name.

that is super interesting. knowing now that Lauren made all of her own deals (like the clause that stated no one on the hills could earn more than her including the crew/production), and cast members saying she was a complete boss from the start and had no problem standing up to the producers as a teenager, i feel like lauren and her family probably secured Breanna’s spot as a main cast member. it could def be for the lc clout though too.

I read an interview with Tara (the friend who abandoned Tessa after she became ill). She said they all filmed a lot, including Brenna. Nobody knew what storylines would be used. Tara was almost completely cut out of it.

LC was so careful in maintaining her image/dignity throughout all seasons of Laguna Beach and The Hills. I think you could even argue that she was more open in the first season of the show and increasing more closed off/careful, and this maybe was the result of seeing the first season, or losing trust of people around her, who knows? So, it’s completely wild to me that Breanna seems to have learned nothing from her sister. Did she even watch the show to understand how those things she said about Rocky would be used? Was she asleep for the previous two years?

Steven Johnson Syndrome is WAAAAY deeper than just a skin condition, dude. It's a full body reaction, often to medication, that hospitalizes and is so painful and agonizing. It effects the skin but not superficially, and it's a looooong recovery process. That young lady went through absolute hell. I'm a pediatric nurse and to see kids suffer this is something you never forget

I also like the point Timmy made about Breanna wanting to impress Lexi and not having enough confidence. I really think that Breanna was nice and a good girl but I think she wasn't as popular as LC so she wanted to be friends with certain people like Lexi, Kynda, etc and deep down wanted to be friends with Rocky but also wanted to maintain a certain status with the other girls. Like imagine everyone knows your sister and talks about her, then you have to maintain this image like you are like that too but she probably wasn't and not confident and insecure I can see in her eyes she just looks so sad sometimes. Not saying what she did was right but she looks so lost, Timmy said it best she doesn't seem confident and I think she just wanted to be looked at like "what can I do so people like me like they did LC" you can tell its not her real self.

The parents of Laguna Beach got upset with the traffic/camera crews/attention the show was bringing to the town and that’s the real reason they’re was no Season 4. There was a big accident in Laguna and the parents were upset about the show and went to court and town meetings about it. MTV started filming and canceled halfway through so they just moved down to Newport Beach and filmed Newport Harbor instead.

Most of the residents didn't like having a huge spotlight on the town or the way the town was being depicted on the show (i.e., an affluent town with a bunch of spoiled teens). I also think you're correct, the town doesn't really need more money since most of the residents are pretty well off.

Rocky is one of the most emotionally smart people I’ve ever seen, teenager or otherwise! I am loving this season. And, I had totally forgotten this was where ‘so ridiculous it’s redonculous’ came from. Me and my whole family still say that often… 😅😅😂

I remember watching this EP when I was in or just after high school (I'm 29 now) and being so jealous of how calm but stern Rocky is. I've always been very hot headed, stern, but far from calm, but ever since watching Rocky on this show, I've consciously tried to model her behaviour when I've been in arguments (not always a success haha) but crazy how her and her behaviour STILL influence me to this day! I loved this season a lot

I thought she was mean but think the girls of season 3 bring mean to a high level in general. It have become the norm for their group. Hopefully she grew out of it and feels more secure about herself.

I've definitely had Breanna ("Your not nice/good friend unless you're available to do what I want to do when I want to do it, and tell me only what I want to hear") type friends. And I've been Tessa. Having had a lot of serious chronic illnesses/hospitalizations in adolescence, I'm not surprised that Tessa,sadly, lost friends during her disease. Some people are only up for being your "friend" if your always readily available and everything's always fun and easy. Luckily, I had my own Raquel type who visited me in the hospital, made me cards, etc. Still my bestie now in our 30s.

So I binged all of season 3 and quickly realized Rocky should've been the narrator. Cami and Kyndra are mean girls, so that wouldn't have worked. Tessa is sweet, but Rocky is the real standout. She has the level-headedness/aspirational qualities of Lauren mixed with the take-no-nonsense attitude of Kristin. Plus, Rocky is actually a local to Laguna Beach and you see her house and parents. Why didn't they chose her? Were they trying not to go with a blonde for season 3?
