This is the cover of the greatest Italian punk band "CCCP fedeli alla linea" of which we old Italian punk lovers are very close; they sang it as if it were a chanting tango while the Maneskin in a decidedly rock version; Manuel Agnelli is the frontman of "Afterhours" an alternative rock band; I'm glad you came back; I hope you will forgive us for that unfortunate episode

I'd like to go beyond music for a second and share my interpretation of this performance. Damiano, dressed in white, represents the youth love, the type of irrational passion that drags and then drowns him. He's helpless, it hurts a lot and he sings it with a cracked (on purpose) voice, but he just wants to be loved again and again. Manuel, in black, is the rational "adult" love. He's seen it all, his wounds don't bleed anymore and he has no tears to cry. This reflects in his voice, mellow, almost resigned but always controlled; he sings "loving you wears me out/ gives me melancholy/ but what can you do about it/ so goes life". He doesn't lose control when his voice goes up but he finds himself as angry as "naive" damiano: afterall, he too can't help wanting more. I'm really glad you reacted to this performance, imo one of the best in the history of Sanremo. Greetings from Italy and keep it up!

Answer to your question: "No". Muse are not their (only/main) muse. Of course, as a British girl you are able to perceive British influences. As an Italian who has always listened to Brit music, I can tell you Maneskin did a great and original synthesys of all they like in music, both Anglo/american and Italian. Non Italians cannot thouroughly perceive Italian music influences in them, but it's clear to us. Especially in their (more) poetic lyrics written in Italian. They are a good synthesys of many different influences.
@ThePeaceAround3 жыл бұрын
ooh that’s interesting, can you name some of the Italian influences because I’d sure love to listen to them. 💕
@mafaldamazzella33443 жыл бұрын
@@ThePeaceAround For instance, I think Coraline has something to do with Fabrizio De André's "Via del Campo". But please READ THE LYRICS FIRST. Italian culture is very literary - you can't just listen to the music. We're a bit more complicated, or sophisticated, than that.
Great comments, I can't tell this concept better. In the list of Italian influencer, i would add CCCP/CSI for self evident reasons, but also Vasco Rossi (there's a guitar asolo in le parole lontane reminding me a lot his ballads), and, just as sing style, the final vocal asolo of "paura del buio" remind me a lot Massimo Ranieri in "Se bruciasse la città"

Sanremo lasts several nights. On this this night, every contestant had to perform with a guest star. Måneskin chose Manuel Agnelli, who was their coach on the X Factor years ago :) 'Amandoti' (Loving you) is a song by CCCP, an old Italian punk rock band. The song sounds very different than the original, here, and I really love it. Måneskin members often call Manuel uncle or brother in interviews, and say they own so much to him, so he was an obvious choice for this night. On his part, Manuel always supports Måneskin whenever they're criticized by the more conservative Italian critics, and is incredibly proud of them (for example, when Måneskin were guests on a recent X Factor episode and performed 'Vent'anni', Manuel looked so proud when the host listed all of their achievements :)).

I was so glad that this performance was finally uploaded as a whole, legendary. Just so beautifiul and powerful. I can see what you mean about Muse, listened to them the first days I started listening to Måneskin to compare myself, they definitely have in common the emphasis on excellence in musicianship and hearing the bass and guitars you get similar sounds but I found for me Måneskin strike so much better of a balance, like I get bored/tired of listening to Muse after a while and I gotta agree to the criticism they often get for their sound being quite homogenous and sometimes the meaning is sacrificed in this obsession with musicianship. On the other hand, when I listen to Måneskin, what I get is that they have taken inspiration from so many places and by synthesizing all that have build a unique sound and identity that balances really beautifully.

Much as I enjoy your musical reactions, I LOVE the film idea :D My suggestion is a horror film called "Slugs", it always pops into my head when I think of crap films. Love the song, but I'm sorry to say I didn't love the performance as much as you did, because while it was nice to have a higher voice at times, I thought the harmonies weren't good and it pushed the singers off pitch once in a while, and normally Damiano is never off pitch. The instrumentals at the end were indeed epic, however. This version is also live, and has the benefit of English subtitles so at least you know what he's singing about. kzbin.info/www/bejne/naS7g4qvf5xsqqs La Paura del Buio is also once of my favorites as is their cover of Amandoti.

@@floatingsara CCCP=USSR USSR is an abbreviation for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Because Russia has a different alphabet (called the Cyrillic alphabet) USSR is spelled CCCP in Cyrillc. CCCP stands for Союз Советских Социалистических Республик. The CCCP band's style was self-defined by the members themselves as “Emilian Melodic Music-pro-Soviet punk" In Italy and all over Europe it wasn’t considered “bad” to be a Communist, quite the opposite. Hello Rachel. Welcome back abd thanks for your nice reaction video I like a lot the original song, and when I knew an underground band such as CCCP was going to have a huge stage as Sanremo, even if in a cover, I was happy. I was also happy because for me Maneskin could bring the song in an appropriate way. I waited the whole evening like a child wait Christmas but when it arrived, I was disappointed, as always when Christmas arrive. I know I'm going against the common feeling, but I didn't like it at all. Especially the part with Manuel agnelli was do forced and out of the song mood. The song is about a painful and toxic love, and according to urban legend is inspired by the heroin addiction of the CCCP frontman. This version, in my opinion, is just a vocal showing off, and betray the spirit of the song. I conclude telling I've seen this song sang by Maneskin in other performance (I think radio italia) and I liked it really more.

hi😁 I love your reactions to the Maneskin videos, I am a fan of theirs since I saw them for the first time at X-Factor in 2017, I am Italian and I am a lover of rock ... so what else to add, I just thought about 44 years old I would have come back to love a band so much as when I was 16 and I listened to Guns n 'Roses, Queen or Nirvana, however I wanted to ask you if you would like to comment on a video of Melancholia a very good Italian alternative rock group, also they participated in X-Factor Italy last year, they make songs in English, the songs "Leon" and "Alone" are beautiful .... I'm waiting for your reaction video, trust me you won't regret it, thank you very much from Alessandro 😁👍

Thomas guitar solo sounds a little bit like the one of the...Beatles song "Carry that weight", in Abbey Road album. I prefer Amandoti version by Maneskin alone (Italia live video).

Gianna Nannini is a nice step between the original CCCP song and this version. She sings this song with the passion that Maneskin and Manuel Agnelli bring it here. And here it is taken a step further. I am not sure if it makes any sense to you what I say, I am not a musician.

hi Rachel, welcome back! if you loved this.. I think you should check some songs from 'the aferhours' band (manuel Agnelli's band). I like Maneskin, but Afterhours were frankly way superior, in my humble opinion, even if definitely in a way more 'indie' style.. Cheers!
