Just so you know Kamijo from Versailles used to have a band called LAREINE (PLEASE REACT TO IT), and this band was Roadie with Malice Mizer... And Malice Mizer became gothic and dark when their first drummer died... I love them so much and by the way Illuminati and Au Revoir is Gackt singing and Beast of Blood was Klaha (my personal favorite... I prefer Gackt solo ^^' )

The vocalist Gackt is now a solo artist. You NEED to react to him. You HAVE to listen to "Last Song" the LIVE VERSION with him on the piano and subtly crying but his voice not wavering one bit! Remember, LAST SONG on PIANO, LIVE. The song was said to be written for his ex-wife. You can also react to Gackt in his earlier years with the song "Vanilla". He said he got the inspiration for that song when he was home alone, dancing (he cannot dance) and then ejaculated (lol, I know). But Gackt is one of those really respectable ones in the music industry in Japan. I met him in person once in a shopping mall and he`s a wonderful person. Okay, bye.

Malice Mizer had huge live shows with massive stages, but not that many VK bands actually did that. Malice Mizer were one of the biggest VK bands back in the 90s, along with groups like X, Penicllin, Buck-Tick, Kuroyume, Dir en grey, Pierrot and a few others (such as the very early 90s bands). The majority of VK bands never had lives that big. Keep in my mind too that when Malice Mizer were around was the high peak of Visual kei's popularity. Despite what many westeners think (usually out of admiration and idealization) Visual kei isn't that popular in Japan nowadays. But back then some of these bands managed to fill entire stadiums. Also: their french phase was with their first two vocalists, Tetsu and Gackt. The Darkwave (rather than gothic, actually) era was after Gackt quit and before Klaha became a full member. This was on their album Bara no seido: it's a completely instrumental album with choirs, opera singer (and Klaha as support vocalist). It's very neoclassical darkwave inspired. Their last releases became really rock and metal influenced again and hinted at a possible new style for their next album, which was sadly never released due to the band going on an indefinite hiatus.

Illuminati and Au Revoir are from Gackt's era, Beast of Blood is from Klaha's era, so you were right. It's indeed a different singer. A lot of the artists from this kind of Visual-kei have been roadies for each other. Kamijo from Versailles has been a roadie for Malice Mizer for example. So you can see all kind of connections between them, also in the music! ^^ Kaya, when he was Schwarz Stein, he was actually under Mana's management. Kaya is a solo artist now, one of the few in the V-kei scene. You might find him interested as well. His live performances were also amazing with dragqueens and dancers. Malice Mizer still preforms annually at Deep Sanctuary lives, but without a singer. But they are still im their everlasting hiatus. :c

the reason versailles sound so similar to malice mizer is bcuz kamijo (the vocalist) used to work as a roadie for malice mizer, which then he quit to form his band which was called lareine, but then that band got disband so kamijo formed the band versailles with hizaki. I think kamijo was really influenced by malice mizer.. and btw react to lareine it was such a good band, it was also one of the first visual kei bands

I was surprised that you didnt get a shock because of their quite erotic, full-of-fanservice show. I wasnt really paying attention to the song ( probably because i know it a way to well) but i was just fangiling over Gackt's performance. I would love to see you react to Ling Tosite Sigure! The lead singer did the opening for Tokyo Ghoul, and his band is great as well! They have a pretty unique style, and it took me a bit to get used to it, but now I love them. I highly recommend checking them out!
