One of my buddies summed it up best imo he said ‘the one who will end the MCU as we know it is the doppelgänger of the one who began it’ that was what completely changed my mind on this reveal, the story and character possibilities they can have with this such as how Peter Parker and Morgan will react to Doom plus I mean come on that reveal suit with the hood and mask looked so cool

I am SHOCKED! If they dive fully into the drama and tragic elements this could mean, then RDJ as Doom could be fascinating and brilliant. However, if they just coast on the fact its RDJ and don’t do something compelling or interesting then it will be Marvel’s biggest mistake. Gonna be an interesting couple of years.

I got surprised as well when RDJ is now Dr. Doom i was like ”What? I thought RDJ was retired from Marvel CU” and Chris Evans was used to play as Human Torch in my childhood days before Cap.

Overall I am incredibly excited. RDJ is a fantastic actor and I am 100% confident he will make it work. The only concern for me is if he can distinguish his performance as doom from iron man.

It’s gonna be tough but they can pull it off. I’m almost 100% sure doom is going to come from the universe that the fantastic 4 is set in. The thing that is going to be to build is the magic side of doom. But it makes sense that in a different universe Vic could be a evil different version of iron they both a wiz with tech.

In the comics, in the main Marvel timeline, Victor Von Doom and Reed Richards were collage roomates. But in an alternate universe, instead of Reed Richards, it's Tony Stark who ends up being roommates with Doom and in that story, Doom tricks Tony into a science experiment where Doom's consciousness ends up in Tony's body and vice-versa, all while Tony's memories (while in Doom's body) get erased. The latter story is what I think they're more than likely going with, which makes perfect sense to cast Downey as "Victor Von Doom" and I insert the air quotes because of what I was just explaining. Because in order for this to work, they'd have to cast another to play the ACTUAL Victor Von Doom in that universe, which means that the casting of Downey (the body) would be for a Tony Stark variant for that timeline, in which he's known as Infamous Iron Man (the Stark version of Dr. Doom). If they're adapting that for the next two Avengers films, the casting makes perfect sense.

I mean why is it bad? It’s not the same tony. I like the symmetry of it. Tony being the main hero of a saga then a mix variant is found to be the main villain of the next. It all about execution. I’m pretty sure that this version of doom will be brought from the F4 universe. But it’s not actually a bad idea. What would’ve been bad is if they brought tony back. It’s similar to the Logan fear. People thought they would mess up his legacy but, Deadpool and wolverine was a nice watch. I just hope by the end of this saga the mcu is destroyed or ended in some way. They could start fresh and build a new world this time focusing on other heroes. This run of marvel will get too stretched if they don’t and it’s really perfect to end it with the multiverse.
