You may not realize it, but "Dedicated" has a lot of references in it. It does sample a Wu Tang Clan song, but lyrically it also references their album 36 Chambers (the line "Tell me can you visualize 36 chambers high"), as well as Eric B's "Eric Is President," Doug E Fresh's "La Di Da Di," and Mariah's own "Fantasy." In the context of the album the song is Mariah being nostalgic about how music made her happy, in contrast to (at the time) her failing marriage.

So “Teacher” is a cover of George Micheal’s song of the same title. George Michael was a gay man and his “teacher” was the his first gay experience. He fought against his homosexuality for a long time. “I don’t wanna learn to hold you, trust you, love you”.

One of her best and underrated albums! Idk if you realized, her voice on this album sounds very similar to her voice in the Charmbracelet album. Also, she went through a lot during this album promo; her album titles got leaked (and some songs), Nick cheated on her, dislocated her shoulder when she was filming Beautiful Remix music video, etc.

BOOO Meteorite is a cosmic bop!
@jasonenglisbe9646Күн бұрын
Her voice sounds so pleasant and rich on it, but I can see where as a song it could drag for some. The chorus is repetitive and doesn't really go anywhere. It's interesting to think of it as a warning to Nick about his fame being fleeting, though lol.

I guess autotune was the rage at the time BUT the last person needing autotune is Mariah! I grew up with her and I imagined she would too.
@xejelahКүн бұрын
People don't know enough words. Autotune is pitch correction. Mariah Carey doesn't require pitch correction. It can also be used for robotic noises. Mariah also went through pregnancy at this time, so her vocals did improve and she had a second wind on some songs. She sounded great live too as some do because pregnancy can make the vocal chords more elastic. Which is why her rasp is gone, but comes back later once the hormones return to normal - however raising her voice higher is always an ability to do in the studio - that has nothing to do with autotune. People seem to forget that this album was supposed to be released 2 years prior but was pushed back.

This album was essentially Lemonade before Beyonce made that album (which I say respectfully as I am a big fan of Lemonade). Both Me. I Am Mariah and Lemonade find each women processing their troubled marriage through the use of the history of Black music. Me. I Am Mariah uses gospel to talk about trying to find a redemptive moment ("Cry" and "Heavenly"), modern R&B to address Nick's outlandish behavior ("Faded" and "Thirsty"), doo wop to celebrate her attraction ("Make It Look Good"), disco to highlight Nick's fleeting tendencies ("You Don't Know What to Do" and "Meteorite"), old-school hip-hop to talk about how music has always been there for her ("Dedicated"), and Mariah's own ballad-with-a-beat template to find optimism of an enduring love ("You're Mine").

Just a lil helpful tip , Walé ( Wahh-Lay ) The 🐳pronunciation has me still in stitches 🤣🤣😉🙃🙃🥂. Its a common mistake. Dedicated uses a Sample from a Wu-tang Clan song (Protect Ya Neck) if not mistaken. Yes it's Stevie Wonder on Harmonica (Make it Look Good). One More Try, is a Cover originally by George Michael (an 89s song). Heavenly/No Ways Tired , is also a Cover. It's original was from the 50s or 60s by a Southern Pastor (His name eludes me) however this arrangement Mariah chose is actually a Cover of a Cover. Gospel Duo (Mary Mary) covered the original and used this arrangement 1st. 😉🥂 Yes , You missed Mine, Eternal or did you 🤨🤔🤔🙃🙃😉

It is so sad cause mariah said she really worked hard for this album. The album was also sabotaged and leaked and need to rechange some of the songs and title of the album. And waited another year to be released She collaborated for a real orchestras and musicians. She even had an e=mc2 era body here and she got injured during the promotions.

what most lambs don’t like about this album is that it is very extra. in everything. production, all the layered vocals, the extreme over the top climaxes and riffs, the autotune stylistic choice, etc. there’s so many genres and vibes but the album feels cohesive due to drama of it all. nick cannon had her going through IT and the album reflects it. caution is wayyy more laid back.

You probably didn't know and don't know. This album is a divorce album about Mariah and Nick Cannon when they was going through their divorce. That's why when you listen to some of the lyrics on some of the songs you'll understand like thirsty and some like make it look good and camouflage. By the way the song Make it look Good should have said featuring Stevie Wonder. He's playing a harmonica the whole song. He's the one that laughs at the beginning after playing the harmonica and laughs and says okay. He also is singing background with her the whole song. She basically sent my mama told me not to play with those type of men look at what you got me going through.

Make it look good Stevie wonder played the harmonica also got tike magazine as best song of that year . This album was a critically acclaimed album. This album had mixed reviews with lambily most liked it but didn’t love it . The album sounds like this because it’s the sound of that time in 2014. You missed you’re mine (eternally) those are her kids on supernatural. The production you’re talking about is vocal layering most singers real singers do it.lol dahlling when you say it’s too loud that’s black church it’s powerful not some weak pop vocals . Make sure you listen to you’re mine on the deluxe . Most people that complain don’t like black gospel or r&b music and want just pop vocals.

Im a lamb but this album is my least favorite album. the reason I hate it, first, is because I don't like in a song where an artist is like talking (which most of the tracks here), second, shes too loud in this album which is what you said from the last track, third, there are tracks there that were very chaotic to listen to, then last I feel like her voice and the way she sung here is not fit for the type of music production.
