@@matthewkreps3352 Direction was by Terry Gilliam (the animator and Patsy for example) and Terry Jones (Bedevere). Apparently a lot of chaos ensued in the production with two directors, both called Terry. Gilliam has of course directed many fine movies after that. Jones for example directed Erik the Viking and wrote the screenplay for Labyrinth and written/presented numerous history documentary mini-series for the BBC. Jones sadly passed away earlier this year.

I love how nearly every joke in the movie is about the same thing -- the pointlessness of violence. If you watch _Monty Python and the Life of Brian,_ there the jokes are all about thinking for yourself and not getting swayed by authorities or mobs. And then there's _The Meaning of Life,_ where it's about how human bodies and body functions are always there no matter how hard people try to be dignified, and it gets a bit gross on more than one occasion.

There seems to be an urban myth that those lines are full of meaning, but it's more likely they're just surreal insults with no hidden meaning at all. If they wanted to make out that Arthur's mother was promiscuous, then they'd have used the usual "rabbit" analogy, as in "she breeds like a rabbit" (I've never heard "hamster" being used in the same context). Elderberries are used to make the rather pleasant elderberry wine, which is associated with things like the Womens' Institute and church fêtes. They're also be used to make elderberry syrup, elderberry pies and tarts, so they're not exclusively associated with alcohol, let alone alcoholism. As it is, "hamster... elderberries" is in the same ballpark as "empty-headed animal food-trough wiper", "illegitimate-faced bugger-pope" and "I burst my pimples at you"... it's just straightforward silliness.

That was really only in the very early days, before multiple projector systems were invented. More recently movies would have intermissions if they were very long, say more than three hours. I knew you would love it! It is a very random humor but I love it! There is a fun fact of a scene you did not add here but when the wizard with the horn introduces himself as.... Tim...? He was supposed to say a very long random name but the actor simply forgot and said that instead and they left it in the movie 😂 Thanks for the upload again! There is still not one reaction of you I have not enjoyed! You truly are my favorite one by far!

The guy with the funny face and the coconuts is movie director Terry Gilliam. He started his career as an animator and provided the animated segments of the original Monty Python television series before performing in front of the camera. Later, he turned to directing and was the director for 'Time Bandits', 'Brazil', 'Baron Munchausen', 'The Fisher King', '12 Monkeys' and 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'

Also you'll notice the place they are on the bridge before and after the intermission are the same. You get up to go to the restroom but before you get out of the theater hall the film resumes... And no time had elapsed in the story during the intermission. They also began the film in theaters with a fake "wrong film" skit so people would think they went to the wrong one.

A fun fact: During the the "Constitutional Peasants" scene when Graham Chapman as Arthur is throttling Michael Palin as the peasant Denis, Palin had his right hand clutched at his waist because the fastener on his pants had given way and he didn't want to have to get back in the mud and re-do the take if they fell down. Also, and less amusingly, Chapman was shaking badly during the bridge scene--not because he was scared, as the others thought, but because he was drinking so heavily he was starting to have DTs. He did get sober after this film.

It was this movie which made former Beatles lead guitarist George Harrison a fan of Monty Python, so much so that he formed his own movie company called "HandMade films" and produced the subsequent Monty Python movies "Life of Bryan" and "the meaning of life" and made a speaking cameo in the "Let it rot" Mockumentary of a band called The Rutles which were a Beatles spoof. After Harrison's death, Monty Python performed at the "Concert for George" tribute where they performed two songs "Sit on my face" where they mooned the audience and "The Lumberjack."
