Mega-Lop-Olis (Me-ga-la-p-o-liss) "a thickly populated region centering in a metropolis or embracing several metropolises." I remember in the early Sim City games, they had "Megalopolis" stuff. Sort of like how in DC comics, Metropolis is considered a megalopolis due to its size.

It is a simple pidgin-like language based on universal human experience designed to express as much as possible with relatively few sounds and words. The name toki pona means "good language" or "simple language"._ _"Toki Pona has only 14 basic sounds chosen to be easy to pronounce for anybody, regardless of their linguistic background."_

10:10 - For this kind of map you get statistical anomalies. When you have 50 states, some of which have a very small percentage of the population, you need a HUGE data set, and while 200 school shootings is unbareably too many, it is far too small for a statistical data set. If you look at overall homicide rate like in 2:25 you get a much less bizarre result.

A few other theresholds. 115 is about average for college graduates. 130 is about average for phd students (it can vary by field) It is illegal to induct people into the Canadian military below 83, because the military can't find anything for them to do that isn't counterproductive.

For the Korean War sides at 7:50, most of the Communist Bloc took no active part: only North Korea and Communist China had troops, while the Soviets sent scores of their top fighter pilots who only flew over Communist-held territory. The Communists lost aircraft at a 17-1 ratio, thus Stalin's decision to send pilots, but he didn't want anyone to know Russians were flying "Chinese" aircraft. What's interesting is the worldwide effort versus the North Korean invasion: substantial numbers of ground troops from across the UK and the Commonwealth, Colombia, Ethiopia (an entire brigade, thanks to Emperor Haile Selassie), Turkey and Greece fighting on the same side, the Netherlands and Belgium, France, the Philippines, Thailand. Plus hospitals, etc. from Sweden et al. A snapshot of what the United Nations might have become if the world's democracies had stayed united, and if only democracies were welcomed into the UN.

For the electoral map, you don't have to put those things, but there are exit polls where pollsters will collect data on who people voted for and there they do ask for that sort of demographic stuff.

Le Mans is a 24 hour endurance race for cars. Every car company sends a fleet of a single new car that they worked on for the last year. Each car is run through the gambit for a straight 24 hours, they switch drivers every 8 hours but it’s the same car the entire way through. The point is to see how a car preforms under constant stress for a full day. Ferrari lost a number of cars over the years due to pure out overheating of the engine. Ford beat the others once only because it outlasted everyone else because of the revolutionary air cooled engine at the time. The point is not the race itself that is important as anything learned is immediately moved over to the general assembly lines to improve cars like the engine was liquid cooled before now it’s all air cooled. Oil companies try making better motor oils after learning from le man as their stuff literally boiled after four hours at Le man until completely reworking the formula to better do the job much longer. The point being winning the race is one thing but doing better than that year is the goal every year. Le man is the perfect learning experience under the most stressful of conditions as you can’t predict what cars do as they very likely will break but you try and get better.

8:25, How is it possible there so few Catholic Churches in Ireland? Am I reading that wrong?
@HermanVonPetri2 жыл бұрын
The key for that map is misleading. It's showing the number of _people_ that belong to the Catholic Church in each country. I was confused too and had to look it up. Ireland only has a population of about five-million people in the whole country, about 3.7 million of which identify as Catholic. Which corresponds to the shade indicating 2,000,000+.

10:14 I’d say for one, the population. California, Texas, Florida and Illinois have quite the huge populations (especially when compared to the states west of Illinois).For reference Illinois (red) has a population of 12.6 million while Montana (blue) has a population of 1 million. I have no source to prove it, but I can imagine about 50% come from those 4 states alone. Another 30% probably come from Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee because the people there are insane. Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and Michigan probably take care of another 15%. That leaves 2% for the rest of the red states.

The electoral maps by demographics, you don't have to put in your race or religion or whatever when you vote. However polls do show how people of those demographics vote in that area. Blue is democratic and red is republican. So the first was if only people of color voted, all states would be blue states, meaning democratic win. Next map, if only women voted democrat would still win by a lot, but it wouldn't be a close out. Next if only men, republican win, but more evenly split than the first two maps. That's all it's saying. Who would win if only these people were allowed to vote, going by poll data.

When you ask people if they believe in God and scriptures they are likely going to lie and say yes even if they don't or they are not practicing. It's all about perception.
