I was devastated at the loss of Nelson, but it definitely made the video. It was the turning point that I became so invested in and truly feel for the Spheal Team Six and really root for them to finish without any more losses Oh but despite as tragic as his death was, the Rocky helmet left sitting on the ground after the Sharpedo animation coming at him did make me laugh a bit internally too.... Really all the animations drew emotion from me as they're so fantastic and convey so much information the way they've been done. Just amazing work throughout the whole video from everyone.

My favorite remains one of his relatively early ones, the baby pokemon only platinum run. It was a really difficult run, especially towards the end, which required a lot of planning (I also like when the challenge is hard enough that he can allow himself to use even "cheap" strategies, without trivializing it). The method of getting encounters was novel and presented an interesting change to how the game would usually be played in itself, and the jokes just consistently landed for me. I don't think there's any other video where I laughed as hard at the jokes as the baby only run.

That actually fixes two problems mentioned in the video, and it’s gonna be my new headcanon! Norman’s own cover is him becoming a local gym leader; a career leaving him working for Steven directly. He knows your mission, and he knows Wally’s mission- to make sure you stay on mission and don’t realise what’s up with Steven. Norman makes you help Wally catch his ‘first Pokémon’, giving him a reason to follow you around and keep tabs on you. And when all else goes wrong, it’s up to Wally to try and stop you before you become a problem for Steven.

I love your content, i feel like you're one of the last remaining nuzlockers to really capture the original spirit of the challenge, it started as a comic, a way to make the game more emotional not just harder. and dont get me wrong theirs fun to be had in taking the challenge to the logical extreme and fun in watching that, but i have way more fun with videos like this (or rather the original spheal team six) that use the challenge as a storytelling medium

as someone who got into nuzlockes back in 2010, when the original pokemon hard-mode comic was still brand new, the spheal team six video is absolutely one of my favorite videos of yours. i read hundreds of nuzlocke webcomics as a tween on deviantart, many of them made by other kids my age at the time(or young adults just starting college), nearly all of them introducing a personal "spin" on the game's canon to make their comic fit to their own sensibilities, their own sense of humor, their own interests. now, maybe none of them were incredible works of art, some of them certainly havent aged gracefully, and many of them were abandoned as the people behind them got older and lost interest in their past self's overly ambitious creative projects. but i have so many fond memories of that time, and im always going to associate nuzlockes with these comics, and people putting their own spin on the pokemon world and playing around with the games' plots and getting creative with it. i remember scouring youtube for nuzlocke challenges back then and only finding a handful of videos at the time, with maybe a couple hundred views at best. occasionally, someone making a nuzlocke comic would upload an animatic of a particularly dramatic scene in their comic, but it was pretty rare to find people posting videos of their gameplay, let alone getting a significant amount of views doing it. its genuinely crazy to think about how much things have changed as this little ruleset has become so overwhelmingly popular, and while im happy about it, sometimes it makes me a little sad that the more story-driven approach has gotten more obscure over time. the spheal team six video feels so much like an evolution of the comics i used to read, and im really grateful for it. i hope to see even more videos like it in the future

Spheal Team Six was the first video of yours I watched, and is still a favorite because of that… and because I love Spheal. More recent videos have been amazing and the last few videos in particular have been getting more and more real big laughs out of me, I think your content is incredibly high quality and there’s plenty of places it keeps improving. Also, one thing on the over leveling and training point- obviously, I can only speak for myself, but considering I heavily underestimated a team of six Spheal, in this instance, having them fully trained and overleveled works. Makes them feel like they actually have the combat background the intro described them as having.

I loved how you integrated the game's progression with your story, like coming up with a reason to fight Stephen after Archie was defeated. It was interesting to hear how your approach as a creator has evolved and is evolving, like how this was one of the first times you used music for emotional effect. It's inspiring to hear both what you liked about your past work and what you thought you could've done better. I feel like a lot of people don't realize how much work streamers/KZbinrs put in. I'm another kind of artist, so that process of self-reflection and improvement feels familiar to me. You mentioned near the end that your work/life balance wasn't good near the end of 2023. I'd be curious to hear more about the career aspects of what you do. Like, since you're already quite successful, do you have specific goals you're working toward? Are you trying to set clearer boundaries between work and your personal life so that your work is closer to a normal job (something I've tried to do as a novelist) rather than something all-consuming? What does a typical day on the job look like, in terms of allocating your time to streaming, video editing, managing the people you work with, brainstorming new ideas, writing scripts, etc? Thank you for your wholesome and entertaining content! I've really enjoyed the more story-centric videos you've put out, as well as the weird challenge runs like all Dittos and all Smeargles, and I also really appreciate having the more normal Nuzlockes in between to tide me over. Congrats on what you've accomplished so far--looking forward to your future work!

Spheal Team Six was and remains one of my favorite stories. It got released very soon after my second time dropping out of college and moving back across the country, and particularly the part about the protagonist's disillusionment with his employers resonated with me as I was processing my experience in a frankly predatory education system. (More so a fault of my college than the overall tertiary education in the states.) And yes, it's a silly story about fake animals that can manipulate the weather, but that was an important part too. Silly enough to let me escape from the quarter-life crisis I was in, resonant enough to leave me feeling like I could still make something of myself at the end. A year later, life finds me moving in a particularly Alpha direction. And, as my comment on the original video shows, I adore the world created here, between Flygon and Wooshway. I still wonder how exactly either a ten-year-old boy became an elite secret agent or a grown man disguised himself convincingly as a ten-year-old boy, but I can live with the questions. A world is always more magical when left partially unanswered.

Do more of these man! You are a big storyteller, I always love the Nuzlockes that go beyond the normal games. I used to like other content creators and nuzlockers but the amount of videos playing just like I do generally felt like nothing, and while I was watching less and less of these Nuzlocke videos, I was looking up your other channels because I just wanted more and more. So keep up dude, youre an awesome youtuber

Your storytelling is a lot of why i enjoy your nuzlockes in particular. So many times i have seen a nuzlocke video thats basically just a recap. Your work on these things actually engages me and makes me feel deaths. I am actually entertained, not just listening to waste time

This was probably one of my favorite of your videos too. Spheal has always been my favorite and seeing this video seemed so niche and incredible to me. Thank you so much for being such an amazing content creator ❤

You should put all the steven stone/nosey lore and letters in one place. It would be a real help. Good video. Keep up the good work.

I'm super late to the party here but I love your content so much. You have a truly unique identity in the way you integrate storytelling to your videos. It adds an amazing sense of pacing, humor and personality that I don't find in most creators. The Spheal Team Six video and the emerald fighting type video are some of my favourites because of that! Not to mention the glorious endings to every Kalos nuzlocke of course. Anyways, thank you for the awesome videos Dr. HG!

I am so incredibly glad you decided to react to your spheal team six video. Seeing all the work, external contributions and cogs turning during this process is unbelievably interesting. You are an incredible storyteller. You always get my emotions running all over the place so never sell yourself short or assume to be pretentious. Your content is truly wonderful and a highlight to anyone's day.

I will admit I am one of the comfort viewers who watches your videos as a way to help me sleep (you have a very comforting voice) but I also really enjoy all your videos and I’ve especially enjoyed the story episodes. I really like the bunny and grass ones and I’m excited to see more of what you come up with in the future!!!

I *love* the nuzlockes that are really story based, where you get into character and give all your Pokémon very strong identities and personalities, so I’m glad we get to revisit one of the best ones!!! The narrative is very strong and the amazing artwork and animation enhances it so much!! I love spheal team six 💕💕 (Also tip for snapping: you’re supposed to do it with your middle finger and thumb, and the sound comes from your finger hitting the meat of your thumb! And I actually snap better with my non-dominant hand than my dominant one, so don’t think that if you can’t snap with your good hand, you can’t snap with the other! My running theory is that because my left hand isn’t as strong as my right, it’s able to relax more and therefore hit my palm better. If I’m more tense with my snaps, they get much worse.)

nelson’s death scene gets me in my feelings every time I watch this nuzlocke… which is a lot. really can’t understate how masterful the video was-the story, the narration, the art, everything was just perfect.

Nice review Dr. HG. Definitely when I watched the Spheal team 6 for the first time I had to stop the video at some point because of Nelson's sacrifice. One other story driven nuzlocke that I personally liked was your Christmas tale. If you could at one point, I would love if you could make a review of your Smeargle run as my request. That was one of my favorite nuzlockes to watch due to the strats and funny moments. Again great review and insight of your Spheal team 6 vid.

I just noticed the Pokéballs are matched to correspond to each of the team's characteristics. So clever! It really is the little touches that make all the difference.

I'm glad the rest of Spheal Team Six didn't die at the end there. The way I look at it is that everyone is still distraught from Nelson's sacrifice but Alpha's leadership allowed them to channel that grief to finish the mission in honor of their fallen comrade so that they can all live happily ever after as Nelson intended it. And NGL, Flygon, when Bertha named her son after Nelson...never has a video absolutely pulled at my heartstrings like that ending. That was the perfect ending to Spheal Team Six :)

I love watching your content! You always do these interesting challenges like the losers videos and the smeagle/ditto challenges. Not only that, but your videos really help me to get a good night's sleep before work. For all of this, I thank you and I can't wait to see what you got cooking for 2024!

I always look forward your uploads Flygon. I follow you since your first video. Yes. That long. The growth has been so massive it's undescribable, but it's only natural when you do something you are passionate about. Keep going till you have your heart in it! Everything you bring to the table is well received, without expectations!
