Are you kidding me???? Cutler had a fkn beerkeg starting in '03!!!! I'm not denying or excusing Coleman, but people who say this have a bias.... also, Jay was never more chiseled than Ronnie (or other top bodybuilders)- he had mass, shape/silhouette, and structure/width over everyone else except Ronnie, but he was never as "grainy" as guys that were notorious for hardness- Ronnie, Levrone, Branch, Markus, Shawn maybe Dexter, etc.

Well, three Mr. Olympia's had been dethroned on stage before 2005, but mostly Jay's right, champion's tended to retire. Mr. Olympia's had only lost on stage the year AFTER winning the Olympia three times before 2005: in 1970 (Sergio Oliva lost to Arnold); 1980 (Frank Zane came in third with Arnold winning); and 1984 (Sammir Bannout came in 5th with Lee Haney winning). Lee Haney and Dorian Yates then both retired without a loss after their first wins (14 title stretch between the two), then Ronnie won 8 in a row before losing in 2005. Since then it's been a slightly different story, with champs losing a bit more often: Ronnie Coleman obviously lost in 2005; Jay lost (sorry!) in 2008 to Dexter Jackson; Jackson lost to Jay in 2009; Jay lost to Phil Heath in 2011; Phil Heath lost to Shawn Rhoden in 2018; Brandon Curry lost to Big Ramy in 2019; and Big Ramy came in 5th in 2022, with Hadi Choopan winning.
