i was pretty skeptical about the book you've written cause i didn't know if it would be much good but hearing how you've learnt so much in the last 4 years i'll be so happy to buy it☺️
@thewewguy8t887 жыл бұрын
i am skeptical about it because yeah thats exactly why i am skeptical about it since quite frankly i am skeptical about the stuff she learned. now i know what you are going to say dont buy it then. well i do not want too? and i know you also going to say i should not even have commented and are going to ask why i watched this video if i am "so skeptical" my response is its funny how unless you have anything positive to say you should not say anything at all. and how saying i am skeptical about her book is apparently insulting and mean and rude and just all around a hate comment.
@Amyymcx7 жыл бұрын
thewewguy8t88 it's not a hate comment at all & it wasn't meant to be in the first place. If someone said that about my book i'd be understanding; calm the fuck down man

Hey Emma, this is a pretty appropriate video for today. Today I got my exam results that determined whether I got into university or not. I was honestly so sure that I was going to fail Chemistry as I have had an extremely rough 3 years. However, I got an absolutely amazing grade and smashed it. I've been telling myself all day that I deserved this, and my hard work has paid off - I'm not good at telling myself positive things but I've really made a huge leap forward today.

This is actually really profound! The idea of trying to relinquish all your insecurities is totally unrealistic. I would equate it to how people diet nowadays, where they try to just cut out all carbs or gluten, and then fail. It's impossible to just say "oh I don't see societal beauty standards". BUT, there is a balance that must be attained. One where you are not lying to yourself, but you are not obsessing over your appearance.

stxrfish I have a question. I don't know about the "you can't just fix your self esteem from saying, "well that's what I was given." If someone has a flaw like their nose but doesn't want to get surgery, was she saying this method will not work and surgery is inevitable?

Emma, It's incredibly obvious that you have a problem with your past self, and obviously that in some way is not a bad thing. Thank you so much for talking about how you've changed and acknowledging your past mistakes while not completely bashing your past self. I have major problems with hating who I used to be and seeing her as a completely different person than who I am now. Watching you move on from your mistakes and not hating who you were and who you are now because of them is helping me to cope with my mistakes and to not hate who I was but to disagree with who I was and to understand that I am a human who makes mistakes. Thank you.

Love the message, the positivity, the honesty, and the new hair. I've been insecure about my hairline for forever but this reinforces my current feelings about it. I'm not really trying to impress anyone, i just care about others perceiving me how i think i look. But I'm beating myself up and stressing about something only i see as wrong or unsightly. The one person (my girlfriend) i would be trying to impress thinks my hairline is fine. It makes me wonder where my struggle with this is. If anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them.

I was cleaning out my old bookmarks today and I stumbled across feel good 101. I'd watched that video when I was about 17 and it resonated with me deeply- I was only just learning to accept myself after I'd spent so much time agreeing with all the negative things that other people used to say about my face and body. Despite all of the flaws you pointed out in that video here, it was one of the first major pushes I had in the right direction to stop hating so many things about myself. Now, seeing this, I'm really pleased to see how much your views on self worth/appearance grew, and how it parallels a lot of what I've learned in that time myself! Thank you for revisiting those past thoughts. I know this video is nearly a year old now, but it's made my day, today.
@MinecraftCutiepie7 жыл бұрын
8:50 "I do get what she's saying". I like that, when you referred to your past self as 'she', like it was another person, because that's completely true. We constantly change as people all throghout our lives, a little bit every single day, and when you refer to your past self in third person like this you're effectively recognizing that fact. It's a refreshing feeling, it feels like closing a door on the person you used to be so you can focus on the present and future, but you're still acknowledging that that past person was a part of shaping who you are today. (Btw I have to add that I love the way your hair looks at the moment

I've always been a very insecure and shy person and lately I've started making a few very close friends who I absolutely love and we care for each other, and I've noticed myself getting a lot more confident and used to my body. I'm still shy, not entirely sure if I don't have social anxiety and/or asperger's syndrome, but I'm moving forward, and learning to love myself bit by bit. Today, there's a lot more pressure to tip toe around people's insecurities (which I can understand) BUT I loved your cut-the-crap out attitude. I watched your videos as a kid not knowing I was trans and now I am 20 and 2.5yrs on hormones and just so much happier and at peace with my body. I used to lock my self up in an emotional ball thinking I'm all wrong and not worth change, but now I find I give myself more patience as well as agency to change. This has given me an opportunity to reflect on myself a few years back, it's amazing how we grow and change.

I agree with you Emma. I think that being aged 16-21 is such a strange point in life where many people are just worried about if they'll be accepted, in reference to either a persons appearance or ability, so your idea to give them this advice is a really kind gesture

Emma reminds me so much of myself, she's like her own person but seems like she changes a lot over the years because she gets influenced a lot by little things in life? If that makes any sense

Thats everyone, we all change a lot over time based on all the things that change in our lives, for some its more obvious, for others the change is more subtle.

Omg I actually remember watching that old video and making the list, and I ended up feeling like crap because I was then focusing on how much I hated myself... Writing down what you like about yourself is so much better of an idea.

Thank you, Emma, for this video. It's reminded me that life doesn't stand still. I am now 21, the same age you were when you first made Feel Good 101 and I didn't realise when those videos were first uploaded how much I would refer back to them on a lonely, Sunday night. I would like to see a reaction video to your self harm feel good 101, being yet another young person who has been affected by mental health issues. It's good to review your opinions and evolve as we grow. Good luck with your book tour!

Just adding to the 'Do whatever you have to do to look in the mirror and think 'damn''- statement (which I agree with to a large degree)- do whatever you want to AS LONG AS IT IS HEALTHY! Starving yourself to make yourself thinner because you think that makes you look better is NOT HEALTHY and NOT OKAY. Getting cheap, unsafe surgery is NOT HEALTHY and can be VERY DANGEROUS. If you want to lose weight to make yourself feel better about yourself, please make sure you do it in a healthy way by eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly, and don't expect it to be a quick journey! If you want to get surgery to change something about yourself you don't like, please take the time to research the best places to get it done and save up enough money to get it done well and safely. Please remember to take care of yourself while also working on changing the things that make you unhappy to improve your happiness. Nothing about your appearance is worth hurting yourself to change (I hope all of this makes sense, I'm very tired!). Much love to everyone reading this, you're all gorgeous humans inside and out ❤️

That feel good 101 was the first of your videos I warched & I loved it & it really helped 15-year-old-slipping-into-an-eating-disorder-me. So thank you, thanks a lot!

The part from the book where you said when you walk down the street do you remember what a stranger looks like, I was told that in cahms on Monday and it's really making me have a different perspective when my social anxiety plays up. I can't wait to meet you in Birmingham, and to read this book, I feel it could help me so much. I've been watching you for years and you've helped me so much ❤️
