Oh my gosh I totally didn’t realize you used to be chocolatecolors26! I remember all those videos, I was like 11 and thought your wooden diy cage was so cool. I even made a similar one! Of course now I realize that was too small and my current hamster is in a huge 55 gallon tank but I’m planning on building an even bigger one soon. When I first got my first hamster, I kept her in a critter trail for about a week before moving her into a bin cage with about 600 sq inches of floor space. After about 2 weeks or so, I moved her into a DIY cage with 1 152 sq inches of floor space and 12 inches of bedding (aspen & paper based). Although the current cage she lives in is good, I still want to get some more stuff for her to up her lifestyle. 😂

I've literally been watching you since 2014, when you had Peach and Wasabi and Poptart. I learnt SO FREAKING MUCH about hamster care from you and almost all of my hamster toys, food and bedding were the UK versions of what you gave your hamsters. Since the hamster I had when I first found your channel, I've gone on to own 2 more hamsters, who then had 11 babies (I kept all of them).

To be fair about the waking up the hamsters, one of mine is old and he literally doesn't get up until 3am most days, and I live in a top floor flat, so I when I do a proper deep clean where I have to get the hoover in for sand etc, I literally have to wake my boy up so I don't get my downstairs neighbours and flatmates having a go at me for hoovering at silly hours... I do usually tempt him out with treats as oppose to messing with his nest though...

Pet stores in my area (I live in Sweden,) Are pretty okay nowadays. They did sell us tiny cages (but not *that* tiny) but they have some bigger ones and some employees know lots of stuff, and most hammys are from local breeders/people with accidental litters so no breeding mills (at least that I know of.)

I like to make my own chews, but different than the way you did. I take cardboard, cut out several pieces of the same shape (usually 3, depending on how tall I want it,) stack them and cover it with toilet paper/tissue and flower/water mix (basically paper mache.) Usually I leave then colorless but sometimes I'll color them with vegetable based food dye! It's really fun and you can make whatever shapes you want. I did candy corn and a pumpkin for halloween, peppermints for Christmas and hearts for Valentine's day, and other random ones throughout the year. They're not really hard do they're not the only chews I provide them but they are cute and safe to put in the cage, and my mice love shredding up the toilet paper!

I would spend hours as a child obsessing over your videos. I would decorate my room to look like yours, since you were my idol. I spent all my allowance on products only you would recommend, I even spent my birthday money on wood and supply's to recreate the wooden cage you and your dad made. I remember how you loved doing your nails and would post nail care videos. And I would always participate in the hamster hideout Christmas secret Santa. Continue the taming process, some hamster's take months to tame and get used to you.

Try waiting a bit, taming takes time. First, just kinda move your hand around in the cage so your hamster gets used to your hand, then try feeding them again. It will take time tho before your hamster will be comfortable taking food from your hand, so don’t give up! Hope this helps
