I got my cockatiels when they where two years old. I had them about five years now. And for some reason they would NEVER no matter what I do eat veggies. It broke my heart having to feed them seed. But a few weeks ago they decided to try it and ever since have been eating veggies! I'm happy they are now. But it's still upsetting they never did before. And I don't even know why they refused to. It should have been easy bc they learn things easy. They learned how to spin two minutes after learning the target training thing with the stick 😁

They will of course be in my house with me 24/7 (And it would be hard for a snake to get into the house) but I want to know if there is anything I can do to prevent against snakes or if any of you have experience with snakes and your birds? Thanks 😊

Most of the people I know are like “I’m really glad I got a cockatiel because I feel like a bigger bird would have scared me out of birds” and I’m like “I’m really glad I got my quaker because I feel like a chirping bird would have annoyed the hecc out of me and I would have never found my lil girl” (I would much rather have my quaker, a sun conure, a grey, or even a cockatoo scream in my ear. The man who sold it to us cut his wings a little bit, so he cant fly, even though i let him free around my house. Can you please tell me what ro do and how you tamed your parrots? I am working 9-5, so the cockatiel is alone, and would benefit from a buddy. I think he spends his time outside the cage 2 hours a day. and the weekends more ofc. Cotton rope perches get some dislike, but I've also heard from different birdtubers that they can be fine for some birds so I wouldn't worry too much on getting rid of it unless you see signs (from checking daily) that your bird is chewing on the fibers. There are more natural rope perches (like sisal and hemp) that can be used as well if your bird does chew them.
