Tbh, trying to translate Karpe's songs into English is rather hard, as their songs are very political and deal with specifically Norwegian politics (tho immigration is big in politics all over the world). They reference a lot of Norwegian specific things that are hard to translate without also explaining who this or that person is, what this or that thing is, etc. Tho I'm giving it a try

The songs you listened are really about politics and injustice, like almost all of Karpe Diems songs and Hkeem are about racism and politics. You should look up a translation of the lyrics, it hits you really hard. It is really popular among young people in Norway and it shows a real and true side, which I personally think is really cool. They kinda sets politic and stuff on the edge. Loved the way you jammed to these songs, because in Norway they are really powerful and uplifting, you should listen to more bro!

"Naver" is like a derogatory term for people living off social welfare, and the meaning is more like 'to be moocher' (on society). It is non-racial and anyone can be considered 'naver'. Although racists and anti-immigrants would assume dark skinned immigrants of being it, whether true or not.

Love this video! All of these song are amazing, so I just want to quickly tell you what their about, and then translate Karpe’s song for you. The first one: Hkeem’s “Fy faen” is a norwegian swear word and expression, and basically translates too “oh shit” “Well damn” “holy shit” “fuuuck” “oh fuck”.. you get it. It’s a feelgood song about not taking hate, living each day like it was the last, follow your dream, your plan, go your own way, do what you want and need, show your enemies that you’re better, nobody has time for bullshit etc. Before the “ayayayay yeah” part he sings “This is the message I give thru my song, yeah”. The second one: Blvck O “si ingenting” means “say nothing”. He raps “If the cops ask, say nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing, about why I have diamonds on my little finger. Little finger. Crystals on my dingeling”. It’s an english remix of the norwegian original version by “Kamelen” I took my time to translate the song “Lett å være rebell i kjellerleiligheten din” by the norwegian rap duo “Karpe” for you. It’s a very political song with powerful lyrics. The lyrics are based on real comments written by racist bigots, in the comment section on facebook posts and national newspapers etc. It’s normal people and politicians if I remember correctly, covering the subjects immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. The big black eyes are supposed to represent the cockroach eyes, or other insect eyes, as that’s what some of the people in the comments refer “foreigners” as. Here’s the song translated: Monkeys in my block and Abu Bakr in my cockpit? (Is this what my tax money goes too?) Your anker children came, so mocha men can win the lottery? (Is this what my tax money goes too?) They said they came from poverty, but could afford a boat here. (Is this what my tax money goes too?) Dogs born in barns are neither horses nor farm animals (Is this what my tax money goes too?) You’re all made of the same wool (Everyone’s gonna get fucked) Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah You’re all made of the same wool (Everyone’s gonna get fucked) Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah, Mullah If you only knew what I’d do to be like you Be like you, baba, be like you If you only knew what I’d do to be like you, you coward And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment, you coward. (translator's note: this is the part you liked, that build up to the beat drop) I don’t give a fuck if you’re Tshawe or Vinz or Nico (translator’a note: these are amazing norwegian, black rappers) (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) You might be cool today, but she’ll marry Kygo (translator’s note: he’s a norwegian white EDM artist) (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) You’ve got the hijab in the backseat, Is she gonna become a muslim now? (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) I’m not a racist, but is your passport supposed to like mean something? (Are you the one that’s taking my daughter to the cinema?) Picking fruit from our gardens (You’ll never become a scandinavian) Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare Picking fruit from our gardens (You’ll never become a scandinavian) Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare, Welfare If you only knew what I’d do to be like you Be like you, baba, be like you If you only knew what I’d do to be like you, you coward And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment And it’s so easy being a rebel in your basement apartment, you coward. My boy’s said: «fuck, oh shit, oh damn Who’s watching the cops, who’s cutting our hair?» Asking provoking questions, quasi-smart Drinking Nikka, smoking something that makes them asian Until someone says every government needs their monkey (translator’s note: this is a wordplay in norwegian. Monkey = Ape, but Ape is also a shortening for a norwegian political party) Everyone thinks it’s a good wordplay Because it means two things And something like that is kind of demanded, yeah Anders, Anders, Anders Anundsen (translator’s note: a norwegian politician that represents the right winged party Frp) My black dudes said some smart words: «Karpe has opened enough doors now, it’s time to close some» If Arif or Kaveh or the asylum children don’t get in What the fuck are you gonna do then, bro? Sy it to Anders, Anders, Anders Anundsen Easy being a rebel in your basement apartment Packed with skeletons in my basement apartment I’m gonna end up like you, like a coward Oh lord, oh lord, can you forgive little lord For wanting a car and a boat, no! Oh lord, oh lord, can you forgive Little lord For wanting a car and a boat, no!

6:47 That song is much better when you know what the lyrics mean. Among some of them they mean "Is this what my tax money is going to" which is what is repeated, and they are talking about immigrants, which is why they are portrayed as demons in the video. Later this is replaced by "Is it YOU who is taking my daughter to the cinema?! Is she a muslim now?" followed by "You´ll never be a scandinavian" "everyone of you is going to get fucked (knulla), mullah mullah mullah mullah mullah. Mullah is a figutive in norway and has affiliations with terrorists. the chorus means "if you would have known what would´ve given to look like you, babba look like you, you coward" and "Its so easy to be a rebel in your basement-apartment" The song was quite controversial when it came out to be honest, which made it even better of course.

SAS PLUS // SAS PUSSY by Karpe is pretty much my favourite song of 2019 so far. It's a musical experience. I'm Canadian and I listen to pretty much just Norwegian music. They have so much great music. Liked the video. Glad you like Norwegian music too!

This is the translates version of the third song. The Norwegian lyrics first - and then the translates version BLVCK - SI INGENTING The Norwegian lyrics: //Hmm, oh you say you're bout that action huuh? If the police' asking, we don't know what happened huuh Like: «ka som skjer?» (ka som skjer) «Kem e det?» (kem e det) Jeg vet ikke Bare la meg være Riding around with my four G's We do not talk to the Police Ken do fi wah, manneh nôpil So féké neh bogga-nga nôki Or end up on both knees Sucking long D on the damn streets Fuck boys can't stand me Cuz' i'm way up like palm-trees Got that dank, boy you know we about to roll it up like (wow) All my homies stuntin' when we in the club like (whoop!) She got a big booty Told her bust it open Out in Norway Just balling like Ginobili I ain't 2 Chainz, but i (scurt scurt) In your bitch face and that's true say [?] Feeling like Bobby Boucher Ain't' giving a fuck what you say The underdog but i'm way (x4) better than you claim These bars that i spit like Lou Cain Got you running faster than Usain Yelling out Fri kamel! Fuck 112 if they come in here No Crips, no Bloods, no guns in here Swear down you don't want to front in here Bergen-city got lit this year Shook the Game, check the Richters scale Leo hit me like: "remix yeah?" Had to get it like.. Krystaller oppå dinglen min // The translated version: Hmm, oh you say you're bout that action huuh? If the police' asking, we don't know what happened huuh Like: "what's up? The way they're sucking balls. I'm still native (yeh) It's still Blvck O, where you caught off guard? Yeah, I could've done it but it's far to easy There's nothing here 'matching' me on English Can't fuck with me, so beat it and jerk it. I get to everybody like a BCG Uncle Malcom has been reborn They can't do shit till I cool it down Oh my good, this is way to 'savage' Haven't seen this since never before Dropping bombs, you re Hiroshima I'm USA in 1945 And you know I'f the cops ask: say nothing Nothing, nothing, nothing About why I have a diamond on my little finger, little finger. Appreciate your praise on norwegian music! Hilarious to see you trying to understand what they are saying. Karpe Diem is my all-time fave. Another popular norwegian hip-hop/rap group is "Klovner i Kamp" (direct trans: Clowns in fight/match). My favourites are: "Kjære Fru Ottar" (Dear Mrs. Ottar) is a song about sexism, "Kaninkoker 2" (rabbit boiler 2) is about crazy women.

Implying that while you're probably a nice toyboy foer her now, you're not _white_ like Kygo, or Alan Walker, for that matter, and _that's_ who she'll marry. Selv uten å vite historien bak «lett å være rebell i kjellerleiligheten din», så digger han den. Det sier nok om hvor legende den låta er!

@@OhhMyDeezy Klovner I kamp have alot of cool songs as well :-) Klovner I kamp - Nattens Sønner , is my favourite from the band, it's about a broken up family, where the father cheated and left the mother. And they sing from each family members view, how they grew up from that etc. Klovner I Kamp means " Clowns in a Battle" >.

In the last song he's saying "når snuten spør, si ingenting" which means "when the cops ask, say nothing."

the song by hkeem "fy faen" means "damn" and is kinda like a swear word here in norway. The song made the top lists when the song was dropped and was one of the most listened to songs in norway for a while.

If these lyrics were translated, it would make very little sense.

They would make sense, they just wouldn't rhyme the way they do in Norwegian.

Depends on how you translate. You could make it rhyme if you changed up a lot of things, but it would be at risk of changing the meaning of the lyrics. Take the Karpe Diem song who rhymes _Ulla_ (the wool, but meaning "cut from the same cloth") with Mullah, and then with _Knulla_ (which means "fucked"). You'd have to drastically change the lyrics to make that rhyme in English.
