Written by Avi and Kevin. IMO these are the most beautiful harmonies Pentatonix has ever come out with. Just glorious.

Love to watch your face, looking how I feel when I listen to this, my other favorite Pentatonix song, this one and The Prayer. This may be the most beautiful song I have ever heard, I am in awe of it and them.

This song was written by Avi & Kevin.

The majority of the song was by Avi, and Ben Bram worked with them on the final arrangement. You can really hear Avi's influence in the song, especially when you listen to his subsequent original solo music. An excellent example of this is "All Is Well", a song he co-wrote with Grammy winner Joy Williams. This version was shot in a church in Utrecht, Netherlands during his second European tour this last Spring. It's just his voice, his guitar, and the acoustics of the building. Talk about stunning. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX_Nk3R3n6tnisk

Another example, from his latest album of 11 all original songs produced by Shooter Jennings, is this intimate song "He Don't Love You Right", with its haunting backing vocals (all Avi) and his resonant voice that's maturing both naturally and by way of the vocal training he continues to take, knowing that learning never stops. It's become a fan favorite. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6XOpKKPpq6Eg6M

This was one of the first songs i ever heard from them, right around the release of the album. It was, and remains, my favorite song they’ve ever done. “Light in the Hallway” is another song in the same vein. Cheers, Adam.

Their ability to synchronize all their voices, breathing, entrances and exits, and all the notes are EPIC, and NO ONE does it better, and this song is living proof.
@Michele181642 ай бұрын
As if their synchronicity wasn't amazing enough, in live shows they usually sing it in a semicircle around one mic, and they have their EYES CLOSED nearly the entire time. They are that in tune and in sync, they don't even have to see what the others are doing. They just know. 🤯

At shows, they usually lay down their mics and sing "old school" a capella. If you can imagine a audience of 10,000 dead silent. By the way, the band members are credited as the songwriters.
@Gwennedd Жыл бұрын
IIRC...Avi and Kevin were the writers. Usually, no matter who the actual writers were, the credit is written as simply Pentatonix.

If you'd like to hear PTX perform the song that inspired them to write this one, check out My Heart With You. It has a very similar feel, everyone singing, no beatboxing. They used it as their "off mic" closing song for their Evergreen tour in 2021. The two most interesting (to me) versions are both live, one from their Christmas Under the Stars TV special for BYU, and the other from their Sept. 2022 concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The song is in my top 3 Pentatonix songs of all time.

The saddest thing about this song is that it was written by Avi and Keven. But after Avi left PTX the lawyers got involved and banned him from ever performing this and many other PTX songs. This crushed him. Took him years to recover. But as you say he has found himself again.

There were a number of legal issues, including multiple original songs that Avi cowrote with the group that he blocked them from ever releasing, its why the 2nd originals album took so long to release, they had to start over. A sad thing that we will never hear any of the songs from either side... I had always had hope that maybe Avi would pop in as a guest at some concert, but I foresee that happening after all the legal issues. I love both PTX and AVI, makes me so sad!

It's heartbreaking that things ended this way for the original 5. I love Matt...and Avi is Avi. I can only imagine the amazing songs they had written that we will never hear. AND how sad that Avi couldn't sing this on his own.

This is such a beautiful song! Avi is such a good songwriter as his solo work will demonstrate. He is closely connected with the Acapella Academy, (a summer school for youngsters from all over the world) and he wrote a song for them to perform called 'The Seed'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/joubanV-oreZrdU You would love this! Please have a listen to Avi's solo work - I would recommend 'All is Well' the 7Layers session (live) as a start point.

This came from the early masterpiece PTX Vol 2. The Grammy winning Daft Punk is the last track on that 7 song EP. Can't Hold Us is the first track and the musical ear candy doesn't let up. They were so good early it is astounding. Probably the best musical arrangers over the last decade. Some of the best song writers also.

this is my favorite song of theirs, the chords are stunning. i've heard (but have not seen this confirmed anywhere) that to record the chorus with the petals floating upward, they learned how to lip sync that section of the song backwards and then played the clip in reverse.

Beautiful reaction to this classic PTX original. I heard that they were lip syncing in reverse to make the illusion of the rising petals. Can you imagine? They always embody the song in their videos and emote the right feeling. How could they possibly memorize the lyrics with every word in reverse, lip sync, and still look like they were filmed singing live and deep into the emotions of the song? How? If that is true, it's amazing.

Hi Adam, FYI: Pentatonix was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday, Feb 21. There are videos on KZbin that recorded the event. Also, you have reacted to PTX and to Voiceplay, but I do not see any Home Free reactions. I think you would enjoy them too. I've been playing their "American Pie with Don McLean" a lot lately.
