Great reaction.. There's another incredibly well loved and funny British comedy series no other KZbinr seems to have noticed called the "Brittas Empire" which ran for 7 series with 52 episodes total.. This series has some of the funniest moments in British comedy too..

@@MeganRuth hi Megan, (another suggestion) The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin is a British sitcom starring Leonard Rossiter in the title role. It is based on a series of novels written by David Nobbs and produced from 1976 to 1979. Nobbs adapted the screenplay for the first series from the novel. (wiki)

The term 'water' is a polite euphemism that a doctor might use when talking to patients when they want to avoid the use of the cold and clinical medical term urine, but were the use of terms like piss would seem overly crude and inappropriate.

We had WC's back then (Water Closets) OMG!! How old am I ?? Sadly. Old enough to remember watching *Rising Damp 1974* when the first hit the TV in the 70's. I was 9 yrs old. 🤯 You should think about watching *The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin 1976* next. Leonard Rossiter was great and just as funny in that series too.

It's awesome to see newcomers to this timeless, wonderful show enjoying it so much! I grew up watching it as a kid, and it's still one of my all time faves. The writing of Eric Chappell was just amazing. So many shows from those times where race plays a factor, have aged terribly. But Rising Damp holds up because the ignorant and prejudicial attitudes towards Philip are clearly supposed to be laughed at, rather than along with. It's shown up for the ridiculous nonsense it was/is. I think the character of Phillip was groundbreaking for British television back then. The entire first series is as golden as what came later for me, the "love wood" is still one of the most hilarious things Ive ever seen in a sitcom! lol Loved watching your reaction to this classic of British TV.

When people went to the doctors, they generally didn't like to use medical terms or slang names out of embarrasment, so the genitalia were referred to as "water works" and people had trouble "passing water" or trouble "with my water works".

No don't agree with the "off limits" thing, if we all did that then many of us would never have met our partners,...I myself met my former fiance at the work place which lasted 5yrs and later on met my now wife also at our place of work 15yrs ago, I've had 1 bad experience at work but those are the risks.

Wrong speeds on records 78's 40s and early 50s 45 's and 33's of the late 50's 60s and 70s were actually the greatest musical thing to happen in the 20th C. Outside of reel to reel it was responsible for some of the greatest modern jazz and other great forms of impro music. The late 80s 90s and to now, .With the digital age and binary tech slowing down became easy however CD's and recording studios could do wonders but the downside was digital cleaned up on a lot of audio lost , crucial to the developing musician., Analog true to the ear; records -turntable , reel to reel. SO the wrong speeds of yester year was the greatest tool for a young jazz musician on the road to becoming great.
