The ep is great! It’s weird tho that only Heath mentions Daisy when she was such a pivotal character in s8. I mean she had a featured duet and was a big reason for their nationals win as compared to Xander who didn’t even dance in the finals. Yeah this is the first episode the Next Step mentioned they were Canadian. The only other “signs” it was Canada is in season 1 the scene with Chloe working, the dancers used Canadian money. Also in season 3 during the montage of the cast arriving at internationals, James points out the Canadian flag to Riley insinuating that was the country they were representing

I think it helps a lot that this isn't another Richelle season so the new characters aren't completely sidelined in their own season like with 8B lol

I don't think 8B was a Richelle season, there's many episodes where she doesn't even appear once (I think there's even like three eps in a row she's not in, and not just those) and when there's like just 12 eps, well that says a lot.

@@jrlombardi5251 Yeah but there were still entire episodes geared around her as well as narratives entirely detached from A-Troupe in 8B after 8A was designed around giving her and the rest of gen 2 a conclusion to their narrative arc, where loads of gen 3 A-Troupe are absent. (Ebby, TNS' pick for National Soloist, doesn't appear for 4 episodes in a row). Pro-division was really tacked on and had the negative impact of taking away screen time from the new A-Troupe at Nationals which shouldve been their time to shine when Step Inside in 8A revolved entirely around Richelle and gen 2 A-Troupe.

@@jammyjamfam1202 I wasn't talking about the old A-Troupe on 8B tho, just Richelle, so that's my point. And I don't think entire episodes were about Richelle, she just had a side plot line for nationals since she's helping the team to win and her plot involved things for the main A-Troupe like Maria and her plans, every character has side plot lines about them in some episodes while in others they don't and in others they don't even appear, even by not appearing on multiple episodes in a row. This would just be a problem if it stole time they needed for the new gen, as the example with Ebby, but season 9 is the proof that those things happen anyway so that's not what produces it. Ebby had her moments and plots with the eps about the trio and the other one about her solo, then she didn't appear as much, same happened here with Olive and Adele, we met them in the auditions, they had a moment/plot this ep with Jett and then they both disappear for 3 or 4 episodes in a row, even when the entire season is about just this A-Troupe, bc it's not about giving time to other characters that some important ones disappear for so long after having their moment, it's just how they always manage the screentime for A-Troupe, it happens with both Richelle and no Richelle. I agree this season is way better than season 8 and that we got to know the characters of the new gen better, but I just don't think 8B was a Richelle season and that bc of that that A-Troupe didn't get to be as good as it is shown in S9. That's the only thing I said.

Kate Roman (ariana) mentions in a bts that her and Emily Roman (Presley) have an upcoming scene in 9b, she also mentions that Presley lives in LA so I’m assuming internationals is located there and they reunite!

Regarding the whitewall opening, it seems like everybody got an equal spotlight in their intro dances so I actually like it, especially the part with Adele stomping as it shifts to Heath and Izzy dancing together. It reminds me of Season 8A’s intro with Cleo fist pumping as it shifts to Kenzie and Heath clapping and dancing together while Piper and Amy shimmy together. It has a nice similar flow to that. They also brought back the group dancing at the end which was good. It feels quite season 5-esque. The only thing that’s lacking with the intro is that it doesn’t have that extra “oomph” and fired up passion that the previous intros usually have although I think this one has a mostly better flow than the Season 8B whitewall intro. Ariana manipulating Jett is interesting and I really like how we’re getting to know Adele, Olive and Niall more as the new dancers. Grace’s solo was also a good highlight and there’s good tension and chemistry between her and Heath despite them being enemies. Ebby and Izzy’s scenes together were also cute. I do agree with you about wishing Izzy mentioned Daisy. Olive’s voice sounds familiar to me too. Might just be one of those distinct voices. So far, this season is shaping up to be a really good one. I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite of the newer ones but it’s definitely up there so far. I still think Season 8 was more exciting especially with Season 8A. But I think Season 9A is doing a better job with the character work than Season 8B did with its newer characters. Ebby and Daisy were probably the only new characters who got to shine in both 8A and 8B whereas Season 9 is allowing nearly all the newer characters to equally shine as much as the veteran characters which is good. It’s even giving Jett and Pete some meaty material in these next few episodes which I’m loving. If Season 9B keeps the same quality as 9A then it will definitely surpass Season 8B. #TNS10WHEN

Doesn't Kenzie speak fluent French? Wasn't it her that was in the office teaching someone with cue cards? Also, I think Cha Cha is the character from Grease, hence the 50s diner theme. I love this episode. I agree with you that Jett should be best friends with Pete and Heath since all three are alone. I love Grace's version of Corner, it's an incredible contemporary solo. I am not sure if Brianna who plays Grace actually sang the alternative version of Corner or not, but it is definitely a great song. Heath did great in his Season 8 Solo to corner. I don't mind that they remix the songs since they provide a different vibe depending on what style the dancers do. I love the trip dance of Adele, Olive, and Niall. I feel like Izzy should mention Daisy in this episode and plus Izzy and Daisy didn't develop much since they mentioned they both love Cliffside Sunset. I feel like Nick should have been in this episode as well. I feel like Season 9 is getting a Season 7 vibe with the talking heads that keep changing the dance style in the talking heads. I'm curious why is Kenzie not leading the A Troupe rehearsal in this episode, shouldn't A Troupe be preparing for International. Since when Ebby has a crush on Remi, why wasn't it mentioned in Season 8 which I don't understand why. I bet every episode Aliesha reacts and is asking where is Nick at, Aliesha will be at the graveyard like when she reacts to Emily and Kenzie not appearing in the episodes in Season 7. Jett needs to move on after Xander was cut from A Troupe, Heath felt sad for Daisy being cut from A Troupe but is moving on; why can Jett be the same. Why did Jett believe everything that Xander said in the small group choreography that it was just a warmup; it felt like Xander didn't care about being on A Troupe while Jett did care about being on A Troupe. I hope Ariana confesses the truth about Grace soon about her master plan that she had. I hope she tells everyone that Grace has been manipulating her this whole time. I'm looking forward to the next reaction video.

I completely agree that it's so good that we're getting to know these new characters. Honestly one of the only main problems I have with this season is kenzie taking charge rather than Nick and him just barely being in these episodes. I agree about the note, it would've been cool if they'd had France actually write their note in French and honestly, given that this is a Canadian cast, it's not too far-fetched to assume that at least one person knows French. I think the point with Jett going after Niall, Adele and Olive but not Ariana, is that Ariana made her believe they're weak and with it weaker than Xander so they shouldn't have been chosen over him, so it's not about just the new members which would include Ariana.
