Since I began watching your reactions last season you’ve only reacted to the Hawks two or three times and I can’t say we’ve been all that impressive. This game was different. As a Hawks fan I was proud of the way we played and, although it's taken me a few days to get to it, I figured I shouldn’t waste this opportunity to contribute to your comment section. This game-our first real test of the season-had the vibe of a heavyweight bout. The crowd set tone and the Lions matched the crowd’s intensity by playing at a very high level (even a record setting level), making big plays that could easily have caused our game to unravel. I have seen the Hawks collapse when tested in big games (e.g. losing 37-3 last year in Baltimore) and coming into this game I had been concerned that we might get embarrassed. But we did not fold. (It definitely impressed me to see this.) Trailing by two touchdowns most of the game our offense repeatedly struck back, moving the ball down the field in an impressive display (516 yards, 38 first downs). Kenneth Walker was a brute. Geno Smith balled out. He even impressed you. To quote your comments. “It’s crazy how much better Geno has gotten. I can remember when this bum-assed [quarterback] was on the Jets! Horrible! Goofy!” I.e., you wrote him off. He “wrote back” in this game and impressed you. (I was glad to see this because I know you’re not easily impressed.) Anyway, the results of this test against Detroit looked good to me. The Hawks may have lost but they did not look weak. Playing against one of the NFLs highest ranked teams we looked like we belonged on the same field. We’ll see where it goes but they’re playing good football and it’s fun to watch.

Ayo as a Detroit lions fan my whole life, I'm 30 now, man I saw us lose that game Soo may times before! But we ain't the same ol lions anymore. I can honestly respect your take! The hawks weren't easy to beat. Y'all had our number since 2012 man but respectfully, GOD DID IT FEEL GOOD TO FINALLY BEAT YALL and even better since we made Megatron HOF in the #OnePride. @@2Girls1Ramos I’ve long known that the Lions have never been to the Super Bowl but last year I looked into the history of the team out of morbid curiosity to see more clearly what Detroit fans have had to endure and discovered that they were a dominant team in the 1950s, winning three NFL championships during that decade, their last championship title coming in 1957. Almost 70 years have passed since the Lions stood atop the NFL and in that time they have only managed to win a mere three playoff games. (!) Talk about a long suffering fan base. With that in mind I rooted for you in the NFC Championship game last year and watched in dismay as victory slipped away in the second half. You came so close. For whatever it’s worth, after watching you play on Monday night I could imagine you reaching the Super Bowl and winning it. That would be something to celebrate. The Lions: king of the NFL once again after 67 years.
