Word on the street is that Gwen has issues with production because they made an event for her into some thing about Kody meeting David. So people think that’s why she didn’t go to the wedding because it was filmed and she didn’t want to be around filming.

The scuttlebutt with Gwendlyn not attending the wedding is that she has beef with TLC. People speculate that TLC basically filmed her engagement party as a vehicle for Kody to meet David on camera and not about the actual engagement. There’s also some feelings about TLC exploiting the OG13 kids with zero compensation. Gwen comes off to me as the type of personality who will die on a hill if she believes in the fight.
@jewelgazer9 ай бұрын
For me it is so disgusting how ALL OF THEM exploited their children - Kody and all the sister wives are responsible for that. And now all the children are in the children of divorce category which is just awful. The children have a unique challenge in that they feel a loss not only of their father but the other sister wives or their aunts so to speak. Whether right or not, it has rocked their world. :(

Would you consider interviewing Benjamin Brown? A comedian/author that's left the AUB. Grew up on what he calls the Brown Ranch compound with three mothers. I've seen two interviews with him (one Cult of consciousness) and learned different things. He's well versed, funny and charming. I'd love to see you both interview him with your style. He also transitioned to the LDS after leaving like Sam. He's Kody's nephew apparently and was at Christine's wedding. It ties in to your Eyes on Sister Wives series and Daughters of the Cult with the Rulon Allred group in the series and Christine's grandfather. I'd be curious if Sam is familiar with Leona Jeffs, Rulon's sister who married Ervil Lebaron. I love both of your takes and are my go to for information if I deep dive.

@christmasfairy123 Thank you! I wrote the wrong name. I had looked at the family tree after watching a long-form interview on Mormon Stories. The cross-over in the different groups is so interesting considering they are so insular. Christine is related to the LeBarons' through her mother and is an Allred through her father I believe. I saw Leona in the family tree as Rulon's sister but didn't know she was sealed to him later in life. Wow. Didn't one of Warren Jeffs underage brides move to Canada? I think with the Blackmore group? It seems as separate and distinct as the groups are they are interconnected too. Thanks again for the information. Fascinating.

On a KZbin video she said that she is not happy with TLC because they made her sign a form before going into her engagement party (or something similar that they filled) and didn’t explain to her what she was signing… (and they wouldn’t let her without signing it) which I think was a NDA for her event - and she thought it was shitty with her being Autistic and not fully understanding what she was signing. I don’t blame her, and do think this played a part. She could have gone and insisted not being filmed but maybe her childhood trauma of being filmed constantly led her believe that would be unavoidable - I’m sure there were other factors and there are definitely other rumors but I think this sounds like the most plausible reason

My family - parents etc- were not members and I remember that whole thing about the fact that my family would not be able to attend- I also remember friends whose parents couldn’t come to actual ceremony. Things seem different now- young folks getting married in the same circumstances just have civil weddings and go to the temple later- but in my day that was so looked down upon - it had to be a Temple wedding first.

About the time this show started on TLC I learned my ancestor James Allred (5great Greandfather) was a founder of the LDS, Utah pioneer and Joseph Smith’s bodyguard (from cousins on Ancestry) I was interested in what polygamy looked like and worked. I remember the early episodes where it seemed that Christine was raising the children and Janelle and Meri had successful careers. I think it’s interesting that it’s never discussed that Janelle supposedly was divorced from Meri’s brother. Maybe that’s why they didn’t get along. It also seems Meri help choose both Christine and Robyn. I do wonder how much of an actress Robyn is but she and Kody have gotten so much negative press on their behavior about Covid, Christine leaving. I think Robyn is trying to put them in a good light. For Christine I’m glad she found a man who will love her and that both families seems to like each other. The wedding was beautiful and all the special moments were lovely. I also really enjoyed the kids interviews.

Christine and Janelle didn’t have a good relationship until Covid. They were both blamed & isolated because of their children’s behaviour & Christine’s need to see her other children so her & Truley were alone isolated at home only seeing Kody for less than 48hrs a week. Christine & Janelle only became friends, & then close, because Janelle’s boys were being blamed & most of her children (Mykelti is definitely closer to Robyn & Kody than she is to Christine IMO) were close to Christine so they wanted to get together with Christine & her children/their siblings. They started visiting together, spending significant birthdays/holidays together because Kody refused to get together unless they followed ridiculous rules & never left their homes during Covid. It’s funny how originally Janelle & Christine were more concerned about Covid - Janelle even told Kody he shouldn’t come over for 2 weeks & he told her she’s being ridiculous. It’s obvious these rules came from Robyn, not him and that’s why his boys were so confused by his fear. We all know Robyn is a hypochondriac & attention seeker. Right around that time she then claims it’s more serious for her & her son Solomon because she once had pneumonia (over 15+ years earlier, didn’t make her more at risk than someone obese, had asthma, smoked, had cancer, had a genetic connective tissue disorder causing very low immune system - me in case you’re wondering) & Sol had RSV as a baby (a lie that he was more at risk since RSV is common in babies & only causes long term damage if severe enough it turns to pneumonia or a severe respiratory illness requiring intensive care hospitalisation. Sol didn’t even need medication & was not so sick he was hospitalised). Clearly, based on other examples where she fears the worst so over protects, she convinced Kody she would die & Sol would die if they got Covid (they didn’t & she certainly didn’t look sick enough to need to take up a bed/spread infection in the emergency department for 8 hours - no IV’s needed, no oxygen needed, she managed to film herself and draw on her eyebrows!?!?!). I know I went on a tangent about the whole Covid thing but, had it not been for his changed rules over Covid/blaming his boys & Christine (he blamed them because I think it was Robyn’s rules so he had to stick with them meaning he couldn’t spend time with Christine or Janelle) I don’t think Christine and Janelle would be friends, let alone best friends. Their children & the rules they all knew were coming from Robyn bound them & brought them together against the unfairness caused by Robyn. The absolute proof that it was Robyn’s rules was the scene where Kody asked Robyn if Meri could help look after Sol & Ari (since Robyn doesn’t like having to run after her children & play with them like a mum) for the family bbq with 4 fire pits to celebrate. He was literally saying “Meri has stayed at home, follows the rules so she’s safe, do you feel okay if she helps with Sol & Ari & sits with them”. Robyn makes it clear - no no no no, it’s not time to change things etc etc. Dead giveaway - Covid rules were her rules but I don’t think it was due to real fear, I think it was her way of not having her husband spend time with his other wives. She didn’t follow the rules when she didn’t sterilise the birthday gift Janelle brought her, she didn’t follow the rules when she hugged Meri knowing she had to keep her on side (financial reasons) after Meri didn’t understand why Robyn hadn’t allowed her round despite knowing she followed all the rules & was literally home alone the whole time. She was also photographed - with Kody - eating at restaurants & shopping when rules relaxed yet the excuse for not seeing his other wives & children was still the same - stay home, etc, for a good 18 months. Sorry this probably feels like a tangent but it’s not. I don’t think Janelle & her children would be estranged from Kody - even if Christine left, which I’m not sure she would have - had it not been for Covid & Robyn’s rules & I don’t think her & Christine would have been best friends either. They united against a common enemy. Sadly, I don’t think Garrison would no longer be here were it not for Covid. I think Robyn plays the biggest part in this because I do believe she scared Kody into thinking his youngest son & fav wife would die if they got covid. It’s actually heartbreaking & I think has more to do with Robyn’s personality than polygamy

16:15 Quality over quantity. With that many wives & kids its going to decrease the quality of your relationships having to spread yourself amongst that many ppl. Even for a monogamous couple the more kids they have the more decreased time & attention they'll be. And think its been seen historically that the older daughters most often become mini moms in those households especially if the mom is having numerous babies over a say 2 decade period of time. Then the dad has historically had to spend more time away from the wife & kids to provide for everyone.
