Nemo was leader in the betting odds for several weeks and 3rd before the grand finale... it wasn't that surprising. ;) The performance just showed the most versatile and interesting song and a huge vocal rage of an incredible artist.

Famous is a bit of a stretch… 30 years old never heard of nemo and I live in the german speaking part of switzerland. But then again we have almost no famous artists in switzerland at least not in music. The esc performance was impressive, vocals and the stage performance. However I would never listen to such a song on my own. And the popular vote agrees with that. There is a difference in artistic value anf what people actually like.

Коли кліп глянув, то вже для мене стали вони переможцем. Гадав, що наживо можуть не витягнути, але не лише витягнули, ще й нелегкий та оригінальний номер. Коли дізнався, що людина небінарна, то за піснею відкрилось більше особистої історії. Як на мене, окрім України найбільше заслуговувала перемогти Швейцарія, тому я радий результатам. Та й Україна попри те, що вся увага тікала до інших країн з різних причин, посіла третє почесне місце! Pure charisma won!

I heard this over a mother - daughter pre-contest dinner and it caught me (he was on a train in the vid?). Could have had a bet at 6-1 as winner but couldn't remember my password haha. Momo, the rapping i feel is in context with the subject matter. Binary, male, female... Rap is likely to be considered more macho/aggresive wheras opera perhaps more feminine? He was trying to find a middle ground between the 0 and 1, with the music too. Very well deserved winner in my opinion, thanjs for your vid.

But isn't it called "song" contest? And not Sing contest? It's about the songs.... And not always about best vocal singing.... Important is the whole performance incl. Song, persona, performance and vocals... Some got the vocals like Nemo, slimane and issak and some got performance like baby lasagne, baby thug and joost. As a Swiss person, I was totally confused when I first heard it, but I read the text in a similar way in the sense that who you are, what you feel, it doesn't matter, life is actually always about the same thing: taking a break, thinking and finding the courage , to break the code (good expression) every now and then, of course from a certain age in coordination with the environment. While I also don't always enjoy rapping in ESC, it's still Eurovision SONG contest, not SINGING contest. So rap is very valid, as it should be. Norway even won with almost no singing at all once (though the rules have been changed since).

@@UNCLEMOMO Of course! Almost every year they adjust something. Like the recent change that backing vocals don't need to be sung live anymore. I still wish a rule change that allows instruments to be played live, instead of the mock-playing we have now. But I don't enjoy the idea of the competition only allowing singing that is generally considered "proper". There's many unique traditional styles of vocalisation across European nations that isn't considered conventional singing. Heck, some don't even consider heavy growling to be singing, even though it has a technique and requires practise. The mixture of cultures, genres and styles in music within Eurovision is what's interesting about the competition. Losing any of that would be a shame.

Eurovision is not a singing competition but a song writing competition. How do you come to banning a whole music genre in a music contest? The winner was obvious last year just as this year. The combo of pitch perfect voice, outstanding song writing/composing and a risk taking performance with a charismatic performer always wins. So it is not surprising at all that Loreen won last year and Nemo this year. I don’t know how you can find it unpredictable? By the way gimmicky performances don’t tend to win they last longer than the blend ones but they don’t win. Which is a good thing for the contests credibility.

I think you are missing out something that if you hear it you know it. Eurovision is a progression of MOR music with a particular sensibility or mindset. It's very difficult to describe. It's basically a pop/ethnic contest which can disguise itself into other things. Croatia is a serious well-structured pop rock song disguised as a joke. Hatari was a Schlager song disguised as Rock. Even AWS is a pop song disguised as metal. Everything has to be `approachable` from that mindset. Hence the failure of Lords of the Lost last year. It's not the fault of Eurovision fans that there is no Eurovision Rock contest. Perhaps people who are more pop-orientated are braver than heavy metal fans? So coming to your idea about rap - I don't think that's fair at all to ban Rap (and do you think this song is `drum n bass`?,) as it's a gateway to mainstream rap. The best songs are disguises or fusions. Don't forget France and Latvia had only a microphone as a prop.
