I think Set Myself on Fire and Can't Control Myself are cut from the same cloth of desperate and extreme emotions. They're not the healthiest songs, but they're real emotions and I think Taeyeon's brave for tackling those issues head-on from the viewpoint of someone in that mindset. INVU definitely needs a different mood and a certain headspace. I definitely see Taeyeon seeing this album as an opportunity to break free of what's expected of her. For me, it's hit or miss but there's certain very special songs like INVU and Siren (and Can't Control Myself) that are definite winners for me.

don't feel pressured. half the time i do a 180 on a song after the first listen. people who look for this type of content should understand that no one has a solid opinion after their first impression. and sometimes you really just don't vibe with it and that's that. ignore people who take it personally :)

Probably going to be my favorite album of 2022, even though it’s only February. I just can’t see anyone else putting something out this good. Still on the fence about whether I like this album more than Purpose, though I’m pretty sure they’re almost neck and neck with each other.

I really ignore lyrics whenever I can because honestly I don’t care or will end up caring too much if I find them shallow or just don’t find them saying something original, which is really hard to do so hence me ignoring them. It’s nice to see that Toddler has a meaning, I very much liked the song.

i think set myself of fire is analogous to lighting up the fire of romance that they once had. Taeyeon said there's many different types of love, and this feeling of wanting to hold on to a fading love also a nice touch.

Some Nights is probably my least fave from the album, but I think it would sound great in Japanese, kind of gives me anime theme song/Taemin Japanese solo vibes. As for "Set Myself on Fire," I definitely took it to mean "How can I hold on to you and what we had, how do I hold your attention? Do I need to set myself on fire?" But setting oneself on fire doesn't necessarily mean literally lol

To be very honest, on my first listen, i'd put this album below Purpose. But a day after, my ranking changed😆 The thing with Purpose is that, the songs are good, but the album is not really cohesive, so you won't play it according to its tracklist & just keep on looping that one song. However, idk why but whenever i listen to INVU, i always wanna listen to it according to its tracklist because it is so cohesive to the point that it feels very satisfying to listen in that way. So now, INVU = Purpose. I can't choose a favourite because I love all songs but I'd put Timeless last on the list👀

Set Myself On Fire is my favorite song from the album! 💜 I actually prefer the 1st half compared to the 2nd half (from Timeless) but I love the whole album. Don't worry about not vibing with the whole album. I prefer hearing an honest opinion.

Idk why but Set Myself on Fire sounded like a really personal song compared to her other heartbreak songs (at least to me). It was just so dark and sad… trying to get the attention of a lover who’s growing apart from you. You see the distance growing but you can’t do anything to stop it and to save yourself, you have to leave the relationship (INVU vibes).

omg this is gonna be a long a55 comments im sorry in advance sir Austin for the grammar mistakes or anything lol but i hope u can still understand what im trying to say. at first i thought im going to comment after i finished watching ur reactions but since there's a lot for me to say im scared im gonna forget it later. hahaha 1. i can totally understand you about liking sad music cause im the same. but i think mybe its because u r not in the mood and since u r still recovering, u r not ready to fully indulged in those heavy feelings yet thus affecting your mood listening to those first few songs. 2. for Siren, i remember watching her youtube live while waiting for INVU released, she said the song has double meaning. just like u saying the lyrics at first kinda like the mystical creature Siren which luring you in falling in love and can also meaning for the siren alarm since the love is getting dangerous. something like that? 3. i read in one of her interviews about this album, she said INVU is about love. various types of love; from the pure innocent kind of love to the most extreme one. she said her goal is to relate to as many people as she can through her songs. to quote from one of the comment below, "They're not the healthiest songs, but they're real emotions and I think Taeyeon's brave for tackling those issues head-on from the viewpoint of someone in that mindset." which I agree wholeheartedly.

Idk why you kept insisting that your reaction to part1 is bad, i thought you would hate all the songs except siren but you didn't 😂 it's not that bad and you showed that the lyrics played a big part of it so it's understandable. Also this album is interesting, I've seen every songs topping people ranks and also on the bottom of people's ranks. Taeyeon didn't lie when she said she will make music for each one of us and she isn't in a rush to do so. Sorry, I had to comment again. "Set myself on fire" is obviously an exaggeration. It's like saying "Our relationship is so cold, would setting myself on fire bring some warmth back into it?" Or "Do I need to set myself on fire to get you to acknowledge and talk to me again?" You're reading a little much into it.
