I don't know John Amaechi, but he makes some good points here. In general, I think it's pretty obvious to most people now that Errant Rodgers has gone off the deep end in many ways. His arrogance, his embrace of nutty conspiracy theories he wants us to take as serious, his dismissive attitude toward his detractors, his thin-skinned and whiny attitude increasing over time. I used to respect Rodgers as a player and a person, from what little I saw of him in public settings. But now, I just find him obnoxious--a narcissistic and self-aggrandizing character who has become a target for critics of all stripes.

I agree that the social structure was weak, but I don't think the message from the govt sources was everyone for themselves. I think it was usually the opposite--we're all in this pandemic together and need to be responsible citizens supporting the greater good of public health. It was the irrational, ignorant, defiant and selfish citizens who raised objection and started talking crazy versions of "my liberty, my body" when there was no big threat to individual liberty or individual health once the vaccine had been tested on tens of thousands of people in the vaccine trials to get approval for it. That's now part of a largely right-wing ethos of opposition to any imposed behavior standards and belief in the most absurd and often dangerous conspiracy theories.

As a Packer fan of 30 years, I honestly don't know how to feel about Aaron Rodgers. I'm thankful for the memories, but he is lost. Years ago, he shut out his family, when that happened, everyone before him was with a teammate, a coach, or employees. He has no one in his world to tell him he's being an idiot, because they all depend on him. I just feel sorry for him.
