I think they mentioned that there would be a new tv series adapting the whole book collection. But who knows when. I saw the original TV series in the 90s on BBC, and they had The Silver Chair episode. It wasn't... good (limited budget, etc). You can watch them on KZbin.

@@Tooba-K123 I think the others are leading productive lives in the real world as well, so I don't think that's fair. There's nothing to suggest they're stuck wishing they lived in Narnia. The last battle shows she's focusing on not growing up beyond superficially. That she just wants to be young, pretty and popular. If it was written today I'd say she's a commentary on Christian deconstruction. From others comments I've read, I haven't verified one way or the other, Lewis has said that it isn't that Susan can't be saved or never will believe in Narnia. To make a poor analogy like a rock star past their prime trying to relive the glory days while ignoring other things of importance. Like a business person getting lost in career while neglecting things of import, which for a beautiful, popular teenage girl the equivalent would be staying looking young and beautiful.

@@Tooba-K123 "the normal life" would be for her to have become a futile woman and forget what she lived in Narnia, what she learned... @@theuncoveredlamp I still don't think that her punishment fit her "crime" of having a skewed view of what it means to grow up. What she was forced to go through is nothing short of horrific and I don't think she deserved to have her life be turned into a literal nightmare just for wanting to be pretty and popular (especially considering these are very normal and common things for young people to want). Her ending really bothered me and the last book left a sour taste in my mouth when I read it as a child. Now that I'm older I understand what C.S Lewis was going for but I still don't like the way it was executed.

James you probably remember this, but the attack on the Telmarine castle does not take place in the book at all. I actually really like the addition, because it shows both Peter's folly in not waiting for Aslan as well as the Narnian's need for Aslan. Even when charging into battle Peter cries "for Narnia", and not "for Aslan".
@ginae.2462
@ginae.2462 Жыл бұрын
I actually think that Peter was in the right about Aslan. As a leader, you can't wait for someone to come and save you. Especially if this person hasn't been seen for centuries. Especially when the lives of your people are at risk. If Peter and Caspian had waited for Aslan to save them like Lucy said, instead of devising battle plans, then all the Narnians would've been dead. Aslan waited until the VERY END of the battle to arrive. And even then, Lucy had to go LOOKING for him. Aslan is great, but if he didn't show up to stop the Narnians from being genocided by the Telmarines the first time (centuries ago), then why would he suddenly appear now? I love Aslan as a character, but he is not like Jesus on Earth. In real life, Jesus isn't going to physically come and save you. His job is simply to inspire you to be brave and be a good person (save yourself and others). Aslan physically 'killed' the White Witch, but it's not like Jesus arrived to kill Hitler. Not to mention that Peter's younger siblings' lives were at risk too and I don't think Peter would've risked that for anyone, even Aslan.

@@ginae.2462 That Lucy had to go looking for Aslan for him to come is key. If Peter had believed in him and sought his help from the start, Aslan would have come earlier. This touches on a deeper, common theological discussion about free will and if and when God will violate that free will (i.e. the argument that God will not intervene in human affairs unless asked to do so, because otherwise would be to violate human free will) and of course on issues of having faith.

I see the chronicles of Narnia as not only as an allegory of the new testament, but also a representation of the history of Christianity, from antiquity in the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, via the age of Conquest in Caspian and the dawnthreader, and so on. Timewise it does correlate to the actual history of Christianity as it is being about 1500 years in Narnia, from the lion and the witch to the Conquests of the telmarines, the same time spann from the birth of Christ to the age of Conquest in this world history

Both were set to be in a position of decision making but couldn’t come to an agreement resulting in a tragedy. But I Also understand caspian I mean imagine hearing about this great king all your life and then you meet him and it’s just another teenager lol it was probably hard for him to take him seriously. Suppose you didn’t already know. Shrek director Andrew Adamson stuck close to the book with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and after its success, he took liberty with Prince Caspian as Ben Barnes was around 27 years old, playing a kid. This is definitely my favorite of the film trilogy! I appreciate the darker, more serious tone, while still providing the charm of Narnia and character development for our young kings and queens. What also makes this adaption fascinating is that there are TWO scenes that didn't exist in the original book because the characters decided against taking certain courses of action. Namely, attacking Miraz's castle and trying to summon the White Witch. The characters do talk about these being options, but the majority sides against these ideas so they never happen. So this movie is awesome because there's almost a "what if?" thing going on here with those two sequences. Plus, adds more drama. I love it!

The reason Susan and Peter were having such a hard time getting used to Narnia again is because they were older. They had aged in the real world and were starting to lose their belief, that's also why Lucy has had the best connection her belief of the beauty and wonder of Narnia never faded, she never stopped hoping to go back. Also the Ice Queen isnt just convincing them to change sides she has this Siren thing. People want to be near her. When Caspians hand was cut he was completely lost in a trance reaching out to her. So when Peter was caught in it its not really his fault, it wasn't him being stupid. Edmund definitely did step it up this movie he had real character growth in the last one and in the years by his siblings side and definitely matured.

I lived and breathed these books as a child. I wish the adaptations had been more faithful, but it is hard to fit everything into a movie's runtime. For any super Narnia fans I recommend "The Magician's Book" by Laura Miller. It's part book analysis, part C.S. Lewis biography, but mostly about the grief of losing the wonder of your childhood and how to gain a new appreciation for your old favorites as an adult.

there's something magical in the final song “The call”. It makes me feel nostalgic and not gonna lie, most of the time I cry while listening to it. As humans even though we think we've matured, life always finds a way to tell us that there's still a lot to learn, and our decisions can have bad consequences. But in the end, we live with them, and we learn from them. And we move on. Life is hard sometimes. We gotta enjoy the good times that we have (Narnia) and learn so that we could live our real lives in the best way possible. I don't know, that last song always gets me. Great reaction guys! Love from Mexico 🇲🇽

Can’t say enough how much I love these movies. The first one is definitely my #1 favorite out of the three. And Edmund definitely is way more likable in this movie than he was in the other one. I can see the situation from all of the siblings sides. I feel like Peter probably feels like he has to live up to all the stories that have been told of him and his siblings and that probably doesn’t feel as I don’t know confident is the word I guess I’m looking for. Idk. But yeah Edmund and Peter did kinda switch up the way they acted in the first one somewhat. Also you would think they would listen to Lucy by now in the beginning but they don’t. Ether way these movies are iconic love them. Really would like to see you two react to the third movie. Love the videos! You both do an amazing job!

yeah had my heart aching hearing the song during the ending scene especially with susan and caspian. If only they aged there instead of in the first movie susan would of had a relationship with caspian for 28 years. heartbreaking knowing peter and susan knew they were getting old and that edmund and lucy were the next two to go back when they're peter and susans age and realize the same in the last movie. Though i think lucy would always have faith and believe in narnia.

This particular chronicle, over the other six, always had a particular place in my heart. I know most people like the 2nd one (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe) way more, but I really love the more mature themes, and also the more complex plot Prince Caspian brings. All this system about the time skip, the details about how the narnians and the Kings and Queens became only legends in this world, gives it a mysterious and nosgalgic vibe that I like a lot. I aways like this stories where you can see the same places from the prequel, but changed by some important Historical event. It's a slower chronicle, but the message about believing the Lord even when anyone believes anymore, and believing Him even when the world has changed so much that everything seems lost, is something that warms my heart. I see myself as Lucy sometimes, keeping faith when everyone has already lost. But sometimes I'm just like Trumpkin, and I need to see to believe. It feels so real to me... It's one of my favourite chronicles.

It must have felt like that for the children at that time. Like the wars were going on and on; time seemed to move so slowly. They were sent far away from their parents, under a lot of rules and hardship, and they had little entertainment, so their imagination (or faith/hope/religion?) was such a solace. They felt they had spent a lot of fun time in their imagination, but in reality they are still in the same position. That’s the reason for the time difference between both worlds. (I’ve never read the books though so I don’t really know; just my thoughts from watching the movies with you guys😊)

The Telmarins are inspired from the Spanish Conquistadors (hence Miraz and the soilders face masks designs) and the spanish inspired design in the weapons and armor. First, you should know Ben Barnes modeled his accent on Mandy Patinkin's Inigo accent from Princess Bride. Second, I don't love-love how they adapted this one, but it did have some great lines: "It's King Edmund, actually. Just King, though. Peter's the High King. I know, it's confusing." " The last time I didn't believe Lucy, I ended up looking pretty stupid." "You get treated like a dumb animal long enough, that's what you become. " "I was so tall" "Well, you were older then."

I mean as a kid I didn’t like this movie as much as the first one possibly because of Caspian being the main focus even throughout Pevensie siblings are still there and also because the lack of faith from other Narnias and rest of Pevensie siblings on Aslan and most importantly because of political influence but I definitely liked Edmund’s redemption moments and his sass and strategy in dealing with Miraz by making him give into a duel with Peter but now as an adult I totally understand each character’s decisions. Peter was right that they can’t just wait for Aslan to show and do nothing. The plan of invasion could’ve worked had it not been for Caspian losing himself about his father’s death and things could’ve worked had Caspian just went back to palace safely instead of openly siding with Narnians, making himself look like an traitor. Overall it was not a bad sequel. However I personally prefer 3rd movie since it brings back the adventurous feeling to the course of story.

The other big change is changing the timeline of events from the book. In the book, Caspian does not blow the horn until after his forces have lost a battle and are trapped inside Aslan's How. The kids don't meet up with Caspian until near the end of the book (Peter and Edmund show up just in time to stop Nikabirk from summoning the White Witch and Lucy and Susan were off with Aslan and don't meet Caspian until after the big victory.). Trumpkin is captured, but much later in Caspian's story. He is there with Nikabir and Trufflehunter to recuse and befriend Caspian and help him recruit his army and sings Caspian's praises after the Pevensies rescue him, so they know their goal is to put Caspian on the throne. In the movie, Trumpkin doesn't know who Caspian is, so the kids think their main purpose is to lead the Old Narnians agains the Telmarines.

One of the biggest changes is that the main characters are older. In the book, Peter is 13, Susan is 12, Edmund is 10, and Lucy is 9. Caspian is a little younger than Peter The child actors aged up in between the the movies, and their ages are an even bigger stretch than in TLTW&TW. In the movie, Peter looks to be 17, Susan 16, Edmund 14 (Skandar Keynes obviously hit puberty), and Lucy 12 or 13. You can't write teenagers the same you would write younger kids.

The thing with Peter and Edmund's Character flip that I just love and why it makes so much sense. Is in the first film Peter grew up in Narnia has a great and wise king, who was always in charge. Then when he went back to the real world to find himself back in a Childs body with no real power again. You see him lashing out and always tryin to prove himself as the great king he once was.Once he is back in Narnia this arrogance and need to prove hisself heightens because he is now again in a position of power. The difference is he is not the only one anymore with the claim of power; which is why you see his arrogance and stubbornness to listen to anyone cames out. Then on the flip side you have Edmand who has grown and matured in Narnia has Peters right hand always having his back. Which is why when they go back to the real world, Edmund is still looking after Peter and backing him up because that is what he has gotten use to doing. So when He goes back to Narnia he seem more mature, clam, cool and collected to Peter because he is now use to being the mature male sibling. Who steps up when Peter is spiraling.

This movie really had the opposite problem of what adaptations usually face. Typically it’s hard to fit everything in a book into a film adaptation, but Prince Caspian the book is fairly short and doesn’t have a whole lot of action. Yet we ended up with this long movie with so many action scenes added in with very off pacing. They just overdid it for the sake of trying to make the story feature the original cast and be as epic as the first. You guys kept mentioning that scenes felt like a video game and that’s so spot on. This movie felt even more commercialized than the first. They knew they’d be making merch, making an actual video game, etc. They just didn’t appreciate the source material in the same way as the first film. It’s a hard series to adapt in a typical blockbuster franchise style. I would really love to see a Narnia reboot on TV (come on Netflix) because I think studios are less scared now to do a series like Narnia where the actors would have to change through the seasons. We’re seeing that all the time now and it’s not a problem for audiences. (Thinking The Crown, House of the Dragon, Bridgerton, etc.) Whereas when Prince Caspian was made I think the studio was afraid to let go of their original cast and added so much in to have them appear more in the film.

Along with Harry Potter, Narnia was my childhood. I remember seeing the first movie in the theatres with my family. I had heard of the books but I hadn't read them by then. It's such a wholesome, beautiful and tragic story with very relevant messages. The music is amazing and I always get goosebumps when the main theme comes on. I love all the characters, especially the Pevensie siblings, Prince/King Caspian and Aslan of course. The actors are just perfect, especially the kids. And Liam Neeson is a perfect Aslan. He has that warmth to his voice and I can't imagine anyone else in that role. I don't know if you're religious but from a Christian perspective it takes on a whole new meaning. C.S. Lewis was a Christian and Aslan is supposed to represent Jesus Christ. However, you don't have to be religious to enjoy the books/movies. They were planning an adaptation of The Magician's Nephew but Walden Media's contract of the series' film rights expired in 2011. The C. S. Lewis Company announced in 2013 that it had entered into an agreement with The Mark Gordon Company to produce an adaptation of The Silver Chair. However, nothing came of it. Then in 2018, the C. S. Lewis Company were said to be teaming up with Netflix to develop new film and TV adaptations of the franchise. However, it still hasn't begun production and is kind of up in the air (partly due to Covid). I'm really sad it looks like there won't be any more movies. Some of the characters return in later books but it's been so long now and the actors have all grown up.

Lewis and Tolkien actually did have a big issue over Lewis’ storytelling. Tolkien objected massively to the concept of crossing over different mythologies, and he was also a huge detractor of the massive amount of allegory in Lewis’ work. Lewis was a big enough person to simply take it on the chin, as Tolkien credited him with keeping him motivated to finish writing Lord of the Rings.
