I'm still amazed that the timebomb ticker that starts at 20 minutes really takes 19 minutes and 55 seconds before it's stopped at 5 seconds. It's so rarely done in movies and the pacing of those 20 minutes is just a work of art...

Actually I want to nitpick that in the case of the two "Wake up a girl with a kiss" Princess movies, both Snow White and Aurora had met their Princes and were attracted to them before being kissed by them, so no matter how much you can nitpick how long they knew their princes prior to said kisses, they were still one step up from Corbin kissing a complete stranger without permission.

Fun fact: Zorg's henchman, the one who gets blown up by the phone, was played by English trip-hop rap artist Tricky. He was so nervous about performing with Gary Oldman that he spent the entire time stoned. His munchies got so bad that he kept a snickers bar in his pocket at all times. When they were doing takes where the camera was on Oldman, Tricky would sneak a bit of his snickers, which Oldman thought was the weirdest and most eccentric thing he'd ever seen in his career.

Who can tell? There's a brilliant joke about a Soviet goat herder that very cynically explores this concept. Either way - if you make no effort to put your money where your mouth is, and if you couldn't want or even imagine a world organized more in tune with your lofty ideals, then perhaps you are merely full of shit instead of being a visionary. There is some merit to the claim that any given society is so interconnected on any given issue that a shift on an individual level is not feasible without fundamental alterations to the entire system preceding it, but let's not claim that every opportunistic hypocrite out there is purely held back by circumstances.

In what way is The Fifth Element underrated?! It’s still super popular, almost always on every list of “best movies of X”, and it literally birthed meme. There are about 4 different versions of the movie with various scenes cut or added. I don't think there is any version of the movie with all the removed content replaced. The _Léon: International Version_ is the most complete, but it actually has at least one scene cut from it that actually are in other versions. However it's a rather innocuous scene that isn't very important.

Fun fact: This movie is a French movie made by Luc Besson. The success of this movie allowed Besson to create his own production studio called EuropaCorp (it was originally called Leeloo Production) which still exist today. An other famous movie produce by this studio is Leon the professional which is really really good and star Natalie Portman.

Leon was Luc Besson's last great movie. Subway, Le Femme Nikita, The Big Blue, all great films.

@@drakocarrion You've clearly fallen into the trap of conflating great with mess. Hence, Besson's last great film being Leon.

@@Kthomasritchie I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to the OP who said this movie paid for the studio that made Leon, which seeing as Leon came out before The Fifth Element makes that statement wrong.

This film holds several hidden allusions to "Pinocchio", and "Frankenstein". Engineered being. Blue planet in the Angel Constellation, and Blue Diva = Blue Fairy. Gemini Croquette Contest = Jiminy Cricket. Four Stones in Belly = Four characters in the Belly Of The Whale. Fhloston Paradise = John Milton's "Paradise Lost", which is one of the 3 books that The Monster reads to understand language, in "Frankenstein".

When this movie came out the critics hated it. I went to see it in the cinema with a group of friends because I liked the other movies that Luc Besson made before this and we all had a blast. I assume that they were just expecting a serious SciFi movie, but this has so many elements of a farce, that it's a weird amalgamation of comedy, action adventure, love story and SciFi. Which makes it uniquely itself. It was his homage to the French comic book series " Valérian and Laureline". He did get the chance to make a movie directly based on that comic book series a couple of years ago with "Valerian and the city of a thousand planets", which is ok in my book, but would probably been much better if he had cast the main characters a bit more mature.

Agreed in regards to "Valerian". Visually, it was a stunning sci-fi movie. But if their lead actors were just a bit older, it would have worked better.

Only thing I really disliked in Valerian was the two leads... but they're in most of the film, sadly.

I very badly wanted to like Valerian and it had one of the coolest openings ever. The casting of the main characters was absolutely horrendous. Cara Delevingne has the charisma and acting range of a lump of coal. I can't even remember the name of the waste of film who played Valerian. There we numerous other weaknesses but overcoming two leads whom I only wanted to see die was pretty much impossible.

"Death Becomes Her" starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis ... i think you might like that one. it's a Comedy/Fantasy that's a little funny & a little serious but overall an interesting movie from what i remember.

They show Death Becomes Her on mainstream tv in the afternoon here in the uk! I have no idea why or how it gets a free pass (also the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies) with gore and nudity intact. My pensioner parents got a shock recently with this one Sunday afternoon, I can tell you

Chris Tucker's performance as Ruby Rhod was a wild ride! I recommend catching him two yrs before that in Dead Presidents (1995) to see the contrast and range he has as an actor.

What many people forget is since his work in Moonlighting and at least for a decade women drool for Bruce Willis. That scene was fan service as much ladies as it was for guys.

The reason why I love your reaction movies is because you are so much in tune with the movies; you always have some reactions where your question about a scene is answered in the very next scene, or when you answer big plot questions that I didn't even have at the moment of watching the movie. I love your big awareness brain. ^o^
