As an FK8 owner. I’m just glad they’re making a new gen. I’m in a civicx group. It’s online and has base, Si, Type R owners in there and the majority is saying that the exterior is a miss. Some like the front but not the rear. Interior, some love it, some hate it. People liked the gauges, but for me I only like their R mode gauge. Red carpet? Come on… Looks nice but horrible to maintain. Wing? Pass. Type R wings are S-tier. Power is going to be their biggest advantage but I don’t think they’ll raise it too high. Enough to just justify the “most powerful civic”. US is 306HP and Europe is 316HP I believe. So a 5-10HP bump would be nice. But overall, when I saw this. It didn’t make me jump out of my seat like it did with the FK8. I’ve had my car for 2 years now and it’s still a joy to drive. Turns heads. Not too many where I live (NJ, mainly Subarus here). Overall, glad the Type R is still ongoing, but this is easily an Accord Type R. I’ll give it a 7.5/10. FK8>FL5

Fk8 owner as well.. Our rear bumpers are absolutely horrendous! lol, lets be real. The rear looks sooo much better on the new model. Not feeling the wing though. Think they could have gone a bit more aggressive. But I'm liking this one. Not, LOVING like when I first saw fk8. Lets wait for in person viewing!

I think that's expected that you like yours more, and it does look more aggressive than the new one. However, as someone who is not really into Japanese cars, the new type R really wows me in the design. It looks so sleek to me, whereas imo the fk8 was a bit over styled, esp the rear bumper vents

@@wanxinmike that gauge is really nice when going R mode. I go on R mode in the highways so seeing the whole thing change would be cool to see daily. Especially seeing all the temps and boost and everything all at once. I might even go to R mode more often if I had that gauge cluster lol

It's so rare that a new car genuinely interests me. It's too expensive for my blood new, but I could see myself buying one of these on the used market further down the line. I hope it's not just my distaste for the FK8 that has me so in love with this car's styling. Being a Type R, and with the estimated 320bhp, I could easily leave it mostly stock and be happy with it, too.

I love the body lines and the more Mature front end but the rear feels like a Tesla and doesn’t fit the sport purpose of the vehicle to well. I would have preferred if they went with this new front end with the previous generation rear end with some light revisions. Never the less it will still be a amazing and beautiful car that performs amazingly.

Just got back from my local honda dealer. Asked to be put on the list to be notified for when one comes in. Salesman told me only 2 people were interested and we will have first dibs when they get one. But he straight up told me there will be a 10k markup smh. Fingers crossed that i can get one near msrp

The triple knobs inside matching the triple exhaust tips is a great touch and nod to the theme. Only thing I didn't care for was the display gauges. Analog gauges just feel more sporty and real.

I usually dont like these modern style racing seats especially the last type r’s seats design. But these babys look good and sleek. Loved that left them all red clean and simple like the old days. And the logo on the head rest actually looks good. I could see these in older models too in the future.

Currently own an 2020 STI that I got for 35k OTD. I absolutely adore it and plan on keeping it as it will be paid off in a year or less. I was thinking about a next car and I like the Type R too. I believe with my current career and financial state and predicting my future state. I will definitely get a final edition. Would be nice to have tag with 1/500 or something :)

To be honest, the previous generation Civic Type R looks more aggressive to me. The wing on this one seems a bit out of place. This one looks a lot similar to Subaru WRX with the hood air flow vent...but let's see what the HP numbers are. It's 0-60 mph will be under 5 secs (I'm thinking 4.6-4.8..😎👍🏿

My first car was a 96 black coupe which I treated poorly and miss dearly. Id do a lot to have it back. As I got older got into German cars. Huge benz fan. 4 doors mostly for the s class which I also miss. As of now have a 640ix gran coupe thought about tuning but man do I miss manual gear changes. Like it a lot. Growing on me. I own an fk8... Hate the fake vents and how quiet it is. Other than that, its quite amazing...This model is awesome! Considering trading in.. fk8, aggressiveness is 12/10. This model is 6/10 in terms of aggressiveness. Wish it were an 8 lol. Rear ring of fk8 was the most controversial aspect of the trim. New model looks like its just sort of tacked on as an afterthought wish it had a less aftermarket look. I'll wait to see in person....Overrall, I think this will please a bigger audience as its less polarizing.. Also the interior is absolutely amazing!

All stock performance cars, and motorcycles, are quiet or underwhelming by some margin (presumably to comply with noise regulations in all target markets). Porsche, BMW, Mercedes for example sell optional performance exhaust systems with compliance disclaimers.

​@@matthoward598 The entire exhaust system affects the volume and tone: shape, diameter & length of exhaust headers (Type R doesn't even have exhaust headers, the turbo bolts directly to the cylinder head), downpipe, mid pipe, mufflers, resonating chambers, catalytic converters, steel vs titanium material etc. The middle of the Type R's triple outlet cancels out some of the deeper base tone at high revs. Pops, bangs and burps comes from the ECU tuning. There are many Type R exhaust videos on YT - search for 'type r straight pipe" "type r titanium pipe" "type r hks exhaust"
