back in the 70s , the Milkman used to deliver glass bottles of milk that had foil tops to your doorstep and the pesky birds used to peck the top off

We still have our milk delivered to the door - lots of people do - always tastes better than in plastic bottles. When Ronnie B says 'that's a typical Sun Clue' - he's referring to Blue Tits pecking the milk bottle tops for the cream.'

Yes and the birds were usually tits, Ronnie B suggests he look at page 3 of the Sun for the answer, page 3 was where the Sun always published a topless girl, if you can imagine that in 2024.

What he means by the "couple of things" in The Scum newspaper is that they used to have topless women on Page 3 every day.

@@MeganRuth The whole part was about the slang words for breasts, The birds that were most likely to puncture our old milk bottle tops were from the "Tit" family....mostly Blue tits. 70s humour was full of double entendres but PC has put a stop to most of it. Some of the Carry On humour is very funny but some is also very puerile. Love your vids of our old time comedy stars.

Really liked your reaction . A significant element in Ronnie B's responses to the more dimwitted Ronnie B in this clever clip was his references to the Sun, the daily newspaper, which I think you may not have quite understood. The joke here was centred of the fact that in those days The Sun featured on page 3 every day large photos of beautiful topless ladies. I think that tradition no longer survives as modern tastes have perhaps moved on from that, but an awareness of that would help you more fully understand Ronnie B's jokes.

There's a few countries that sell milk in bags. It's much better for the environment the bags can be recycled easily or reused if thoroughly sterilised & this makes buying milk cheaper too.

The last bit often gets missed. The nun asking for a rubber, which is also British slang for a condom.

I got that part! In Canada we only know the word rubber as condom. We would call what she asked for an eraser.

No doubt many of the laughs are due to that double entendre, but I think the point of the joke is that by asking for an eraser the nun reveals that she was doing the same crossword and the answer she had filled in for that particular clue started with "sh", not "gr".
