Jammie, will you please make a video about the situation in the Republic of Ireland that gay and bi men need to be celibate for 12 months before being allowed to donate blood. Obviously this is horrendous, but that they are still asking about people's sexualitie is still being asked is completely irrelevant. Secondly, while I was filling out my information to get the vaccine I was given the options of male/ female. ?!? Thanks 🌈🌈

I came out to my parents as nonbinary and their reaction was mostly: - My dad was confused at my nervousness and said “wait this was a secret? We didn’t all know this?” - my mom had no clue, but didn’t really care and went back to work - I had already told my siblings and they all were relieved. My brother shouted “THANK GOD. Unrelated story: A friend of mine is a trans guy and in sixth grade he went on school camp, he still had his period and it was on these days so he had pads with him in a small black bag. One day one of his friends he shared a room with found it and asked: "What is this?" My friend sayd: "Oh, it's pads for my period." and then another friend of his asked: "You are a boy though right? Not like your gender would matter in our friendship." When he told them that he was a dude, they just were like: "Ok," and that was it. I think this is just beautiful and i hope that all the trans people out there are exepted and supported by the people close to them. You are valid, loved and welcome.

to add to this, my school from the outside is sort of "ghetto" (in the eyes of suburban moms btw), lots of fights and poc, but its actually super wholesome. everyone is super nice and tries their hardest, except for the kids who- due to stereotypes put on this "idgaf" façade and act hard because we live in a working class area (its florida so most of the people there are old rich white dudes retiring) anywho im in the mens bathroom, and have my period, so im puttin everything on while trying to be as quiet as possible. but the guy in the next stall hears me and goes "yo you got snacks on you or you on your period?" i said hesitantly "period..." and he responds, "my girlfriend got off hers yesterday, so i got some chocolates left over and i dont like em, want one bro?" (ofc i said yes cuz chocolate rules) turns out it was one of the kids who got into fights a lot, he never bullied anything though, just had a bad temper. its summer now, and florida is having a pretty bad storm (tropical, not yet hurricane level but still bad where we are) and i hope hes doin good.

Oh man, yeah. I'm non-binary, (genderfluid type. Is that like pokemon type? XD) and one of the earliest ways I expressed it was by my game characters. I was HIGHLY OFFENDED when a toxic ex-friend got confused that I chose a man for my pokemon go character, and I was like "No, I always play boys," and she just shrugged me off and went "Well, you can always CHANGE IT." Like uhhhhh NO? Bitch? I'm not changing it! I've TOLD YOU I'm genderfluid. Recommendation for a period brand that isn't all pink and "feminine" oriented. I really like the brand 'Just. a period.' All the packaging is red, white, and black, and none of the packaging says "feminine product" as many period brands do. I also just really enjoy the fact that the brand is trying to fight against the whole 'we can't talk about periods' atmosphere. I'm sure there probably a better brand out there, but this is one thats fairly popular and also not too expensive (around $5 for 20 pads). Feel free to add more brands.
@OriginalCreatorSama

I've seen the Kotex U in the aisles and those have black boxes. Does that count as not feminine? It caught my eye because it wasn't all pink or baby blue.
@heathertaylor3103
@heathertaylor3103 3 жыл бұрын
@@OriginalCreatorSama I mean I would say so. At the very least it may be enough to ease the pain and dysphoria. Like I know I always gravitated towards period brands that didn't use pink or used pink with a bunch of different colors (so it felt less targeted) even before I started to figure out my gender.
@AcerJones21
@AcerJones21 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know about non-feminine orientated, but as a cis-female I heartily recommend period pants. Once I tried those, I'm not going back to anything else! They give me so much peace of mind and are more comfortable. Admittedly some of the pants available are, naturally, frilly topped and stuff but others are just black pants. I also wonder if they would be far less dysphoric for someone than the feeling of a scrunched up/roaming pad between their legs or more intimate options like tampons.
@Fallenfantasy174
@Fallenfantasy174 3 жыл бұрын
Is this a thing for the boxes to be pink and feminine? The ones in my country are mostly green and blue with leaves on them...kinda look more like they should contain tea or toothpaste.
@heathertaylor3103
@heathertaylor3103 3 жыл бұрын
@@Fallenfantasy174 yea it's pretty common in the US or at the very least my area in the US. While things have gotten better in my opinion, more colors than just pinks and purples, it can still be pretty bad as far as implying that only women experience periods. For example one product I used to use, Playtex's athletic tampon, has bright pink and green packaging and the outline of a woman running. And that's one of the biggest period product brands and their tampon for me at least was one of the only comfortable ones. Don't get me wrong, things are definitely improving, but the 'menstrual isle' is still often labeled as 'feminine hygiene' and many of the big brands still heavily market towards women (specifically femme women) and use colors that for many period havers have bad memories associated with them.

the one about first time taking out the trash without a shirt is so frustrating to me because I am so annoyed whenever men are allowed to be topless and women (or female looking bodies) are not. it drives me nuts, I want to be able to be without a shirt in the same exact situations and not be harassed or fined or arrested or looked at weirdly. it is so stupid and unfair. I feel like it's the equivalent of something completely absurd like being forced to not show your ankles as a woman in the 19th century. when saying explicitly he'd never done it before when looking female it just makes me think of that

As the fiancé to a trans guy, I have so many things that I want to say about how hard it is to deal with his family when half of then keep dead naming him and misgendering him. It’s like, sometimes I have to hold my tongue or refer to him as ‘she’ when talking to his mom and it hurts me so much to do it. I usually try not to use sentences with pronouns in it just so that I don’t have to say those things. When I text his mom, she always refers to him by his dead name and ‘she/her’ pronouns, and I have a hard time not getting upset at her for doing so. Am I the only one who has to deal with this?

Listen even Cher who accepts her son Bono's transition, still accidentally deadnames him or refers to him as her daughter. She says it's a force of habit and she's trying to get better at it. Alot of older generations aren't as quick to change as people who are Gen Z, Millennials, and even some Gen X. So it's important that you use the correct name and pronoun bc it'll help them learn how to refer to their son as a "he". They need to be reminded or reoriented, and that's where you come in. You going along with it, will only confuse the situation further. I would simply say it with a smile (or emoji, if it's a text) so the mom doesn't feel you're criticizing her. Always show grace, old people will respect your act of patience with them and they will most likely return in kind by putting more effort in giving your fiancé respect. Hope this helps :)

Ok so the period stuff is a good point seriously. Can we STOP with the female symbols plastered all over the thin plastic layers that separate pads and shit, and like get rid of the constant berating of "these are *for women*" on packaging? Like I get it, it's trying to be in some way like ... Empowering for women, and I'm sure that plenty of women who are proud of who they are must enjoy seeing packaging that isn't so overly discreet, or acting like period supplies are gross or something....but as someone who is nonbinary and has pretty annoying and often painful periods, it almost feels like it's taunting me or something, like it's saying "look at you, you're a WOMAN because you deal with this, such a BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY" and it just makes me unreasonably angry. Just wrap them in white wrapping and slap "4 hour menstrual pads" on the front, none of this "women's gear" or shit, or the constant floral patterns and hearts. Like, normally I love borderline overly sweet types of things cause they calm me, but when I'm bleeding on the toilet wishing I could just stop existing I'd rather not be reminded that most people probably have it easier when going through this shit-

I bought a menstrual cup. It's transparent, there's diva cup and whatever but after you take it off the case you don't have to deal with ANYTHING ELSE honestly it just also helped with not feeling like I'm announcing to the world HEY IT'S THAT TIME OF THE MONTH. (which it isn't, since I'm not regular in the first place) and it truly feels like taking my meds or wiping my ass. Normal routine, just my personal hygiene with no one else to know or care. The last one was so cute. I remember when I came out as a trans woman to my close family (bro and step dad, my mom and lil sis already knew) After what felt like an eternity of me stuttering around my mom and sis told them they won the lottery kinda because 1 in (a few thousand I dunno my mom once told me but I don't remember, for the sake of this comment let's go with 20k?) so, 1 in 20,000 people is transgender and she is one of them. A short moment of silence followed and then my 2 years younger brother broke it "Well I guess I'll have two sisters to protect now" and that was actually the first time I was called a sister by my family and I started crying happy tears and my mom and sis too. Then they both hugged me,and my step-dad said "Don't worry, we are with you and will support you. For us nothing changes, we love you regardless" And my little brother followed with "Wait! Does that mean I'm moms favorite son now?" To which I said, still in tears "you wish! I'm still her favorite child" And he "you can be her favorite daughter, but I'm our moms only son!" 🥳 And then my lil sis joined and my mom had to calm us down saying that she loves us all equal. My step dad was a bit shocked apparently because I came out on the 28th December 2018 and on new years eve I got a very beautiful message from him which he's never done before. He told me how he loves me regardless as if I was his own daughter and that even tho this way will be difficult, I will at least know who my real friends are. A few hours later my brother came to me and told me "The boyfriend rules" Said that he will thoroughly test any man that I bring through that door and make sure that he knows that they're dead meat if they dare to hurt me

If you're trans or supportive, then I recommend you watching the anime "Hourou Musuko" that means "Wandering Son". It narrates the story of Shuichi Nitori, a preteen trans girl who faces different hardships in her life such as transphobia (also practiced by her sister), the loss of the friendship she had with her elementary school friends, not reciprocate love, the beginning of puberty and more. It's an interesting story, the art style is beautiful, the voice actors did a great job too. There's also a manga of this anime.

There's also Boys Run The Riot, a story featuring a trans man and a cis guy who want to start a fashion brand together. It's only a manga as of now, but the author himself is a trans man which is cool since we don't get a lot of ownvoices trans rep.

"Are you sure you're trans, because you look like a real girl" lol, what even? I'm pretty sure she knows her body and what she's been through? How do these people even remember how to breathe?? (And obviously, she IS a REAL girl, duh!) And I so feel the first one, picking between male and female. Mostly, I just pick the one I find prettier in the moment or the style. But it sucks. I just want to play an androgynous character! 7:05 That's so cool! Why did I never think to do that! Because the pink, frilly, flowery boxes annoy me, too. I wish there were brands with metal designs or something. Just skulls and stuff.

Oh god I feel that first one. And it happens all the time too. Like, whenever I'm ordering stuff online it asks whether I'm male or female, and I'm forced to answer before being allowed to actually make my purchase, so I always just stare at it for a full minute before answering with my agab and quickly scrolling down so I wont have to look at it, and it's just so uncomfortable every time. Especially when they then use "Ms." or "Fr." (danish) or stuff like that in the emails. It makes me just so uncomfortable and I hate it so much. Just use my goddamn name. I chose it for a reason.

I have a memory from around a decade ago that I still think about because of how cringe-inducing the memory is. When I was a teenager, on someone's social media I had seen that they were trans and still a minor like I was and did not have accepting parents, and I saw a selfie the person posted and I tried to compliment them and called them pretty, because I assumed that this person was AMAB and unable to transition at the time due to unaccepting parents and the selfie was a moment where the person got the chance to wear makeup, but my brain overcorrected. He's a trans guy who to my mind was so evidently a guy that I assumed he was AMAB. When he replied to my comment and told me that, it was so embarrassing. He probably doesn't even think about that anymore, but I sure as hell do. Daily.

It prob helps that they're my sibling who is also nonbinary and they were talking about that and I used it as an opportunity to just do it but damn it still feels good! There's only a couple people in my life I feel comfortable telling so it warms my heart to see people being lovingly accepted for who they are!

Idk how life is treating you a year later, but I hope you are doing well. I personally reject the notion of unaccepting "parents" because parents and family are supportive and accepting. Anyone who you are biologically connected to that is unaccepting is (in my personal opinion) nothing more than a connection of bloodline. "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb."

i recently realized i was trans (FTM) because i saw this post for people who were questioning their gender that said something along the lines of "don't try to figure out what you *are*, try to figure out what would make you happy and comfortable and confident" and then all my gender confusion stopped and i realized i was trans. i just wanted to say this here for anyone else who really needed to hear this!!!!!!! i had never really thought i was anything besides a girl before, and i didn't stop to think. but when i did stop to think recently, i realized that i wasn't a cis girl because cis people probably don't have random breakdowns when they force themselves to think of themselves as cisgender and envy people for their gender who aren't their own gender (i hope that makes sense). apparently there are people out there who think you can't be trans if you don't have gender dysphoria (which i don't, i just get upset sometimes but nothing as serious as dysphoria) but screw them cuz i know i'm valid :) i also have super, super supportive friends who love me and i love them so much and i came out to one of them and they were really happy that i had learned this about myself. i'm gonna come out to the rest of them next sunday when we meet in person and i know they'll support me! i learned i was pansexual last november and i made the mistake of trusting my parents enough to come out to them, sadly. my life at home has been really horrible because of that (my parents are super not supportive) and it takes effort to even stay alive because of my trash parents, but i have my friends and i have the internet and people like jamie who make me feel a bit less alone. i sadly cannot transition or get puberty blockers anytime soon (or even shop in the men's section because my mom won't let me) so i have very little to make me feel gender euphoria but hey, someday!!!! someday imma move out and give the finger to my parents and be happy as a not-straight man!!!!idk why i typed this whole thing out but uhhhh yea haha if any of y'all wanna talk (cuz i know that personally, talking helps so much) just let me know and we can figure out a way for you to talk to me!!!!! y'all are so awesome and loved and i need you to hang in there :)
