Realistically, I don’t think any of the top welterweights can beat Usman if he keeps improving like he currently is. I thought Burns would be a stylistic nightmare for Usman but that Usman would find a way to make it through but Kamaru just walked through him like nothing. Stylistically, he’s surprisingly fluid and adaptable. He has incredible power and an even greater chin as well as unbeatable stamina. Barring a freak upset, I don’t see anyone getting the W over him at 170.

I’d like to see Burns fight him again if I’m honest. Only guy to make Usman look remotely vulnerable and if (I know its a what if) he’d followed up better than we’d be talking about an Usman loss right now. Reality is that Burns and Covington are the only guys Kamaru knows not to grapple with and Burns certainly has the better striking. I dont blame him, had he fought Masvidal and Woodley in way he fought Colby and Burns he most likely would have been KO'd. Colby has been the toughest challenge for Usman.
@mozart78203 жыл бұрын
He's the toughest challenge for Usman proven by their fight it was to close to call before the KO and the fake nut shots did give the champ time to recover when he was under pressure. Masvidal doesn't stand a chance against Usman and knows Covington beats him.
@ninjastorm5403 жыл бұрын
Usman's explanation for getting caught early was pretty good and I kinda get it. Cause they were friends for so long it was hard for him to get out of sparing mode and treat it like a real fight. He wasn't fully into it at first but once he got rocked it woke him up and he got serious. It makes sense cause of their history. But yea i get that he cant make that mistake with others but i do also acknowledge that this was a special circumstance.

@@aaultra3787 no chance, Masvidal poses almost no grappling threat to Usman unlike Burns who's a demon on the mat, he wont stand with Jorge any longer than he has to. Theres no way Usman beats GSP lol. GSP striking was so much more technical and sharp. Believe me if Colby and Burns could land shots so could GSP. This is what happens in MMA. Whoever is the next hottest thing is the GOAT or unbeatable blah blah blah. Nothing changds
@enbonj58423 жыл бұрын
Think the standard of opponents is higher these days to what GSP dealt with. Hard to know though but don't think you'd ever seen Usman lose to someone like Serra
@uyema52753 жыл бұрын
@@enbonj5842 GSP was different fighter when he lost to Serra opposed to when he went on his title run. The standard of opponents is higher, but thats simply because fighters today have better resources, training and technical knowledge of the sport. MMA standards are only relative to it time. If you give GSP and his opponents the same level of information, they are easily just as good. Fighters today arent better because they naturally better, but because the have better resoures. GSP would beat Masvidal, Edwards, Colby and such with no difficulty.
@fushion9993 жыл бұрын
@@enbonj5842 GSP was probably fighting a lot of guys jacked on steriods during his time though lol. This was all pre USADA and I dont believe he was ever using. Also no you cant see Usman losing to Serra but then again you wouldnt see GSP losing to him either but it happened. Crazy stuff happens in this sport. If Serra and GSP fought again im confident GSP would win 10/10 times

@@fushion999 Best example is hendrick, fought GSP on steroids, still lost. Got the interim over Lawler. He got caught popping, and was never the same then. He was a shell of his former self. There is no doubt that Hendricks was on steroids that night.
