Your videos are incredible, and your prowess as a kickboxer and MMA fighter is undeniable. I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of research into Ilia’s game. While it’s understandable not to have watched all of his fights, portraying him solely as a striker overlooks his strong wrestling background. While Volk is exceptional at mixing it up, Ilia’s ground game is nearly flawless, as demonstrated in his fight against Bryce Mitchell, which I believe you referenced. I was surprised by how little you seemed to know about him. I always turn to you when studying a fighter’s skill set and combos, so I’d love for you to look into Ilia’s game and share your thoughts. It seemed like you somewhat dismissed Toporia’s skills throughout the entire video. His beautiful long boxing combos and the way he sets up his punches are more than just power; his performance against Volk was remarkable, and I believe he would beat him every time they fought, even before Volk faced Islam. Ilia is the new breed of MMA fighter. He’s mastered boxing, leg kicks, and wrestling to such an extent that he doesn’t even need to throw body and head kicks. Credit must be given where it’s due.

Listening to this guy was infuriating. Coping like a fanboy for Volk and instantly discrediting Ilia by bringing up the previous KO. He was cleared by medical if there was issues with the KO there would have been no medical clearance granted by the commission. Also sounds completely ignorant about Ilia’s game, this guy doesn’t even know Ilia has been training Judo and Jujitsu when he was a little boy, well before he was boxing. And he said Ilia has no ground game 😂 honestly it’s unlistenable, there’s a reason Boxers NEVER come to MMA. Boxers don’t know real fighting.

When you say Volk returned top notch, actually he was moving a bit odd in this fight compared to how he usually did before the Mackachev KO. how will you fight when you use that stance changing strategy, and how will you deal with opponent who use that strategy?
@BenyaminLorit
@BenyaminLorit 3 ай бұрын
You train for it. Drill/spar with guys of both stances and see what works for you and what moves are available to you and learn distance differences, that way, your brain won't find it too intimidating once they switch. Having a few simple moves on you to force them back to a certain stance also helps. Like for example, if he switches to a stance opposite yours and makes it an open stance situation, the body is basically open for you to fire your body kicks (round or up the middle) so connect fast and it might just be enough to force him back to a closed stance exchange.

@@MAT-wn5fryou don’t know that at all. Volk gets caught clean at moments which expectedly drops him. Max landed clean flush upper cuts that would’ve dropped anyone, mendes landed a clean hook, Islam kicked him in the head, these aren’t soft shots these are clean shots to the chin/head he’s eating. Since when was getting dropped by open shots evidence of a weak chin and not defensive holes.

Totally agree on Volk’s play on the “Old Man” routine-it really allowed for charisma to shine in the conferences/match-up in a fresh manner. It allowed Topuria to develop into a fantastic heel, which was necessary for a defeat of this caliber in the story of his career. It sucks to see Volk go down like this again-no matter how much I wanted him to pull this off, in the back of my head, I just knew that short-notice fight was going to haunt him. You know what I see? I see a lot of fighters who do not use head movement, and do not use angles when using footwork. Now I saw a video of yours where you said that head movement can be a bad thing, because you have to worry about knees and feet, kicks. I disagree. You can use head movement if you are smart and not get caught. I believe that there is a time and a place for every technique. In other words, just because you want to do a flying knee, does not mean that a fighter should do it. Or just because a fighter wants to do a spinning heel kick, also does not mean that they should do it. Just because you want to do a Judo throw, does not mean, and etc, etc, etc. There are times and openings where those show off moves can be done. However I believe that a person is taking a chance, and I can prove it. If you watch the whole ufc, prelims included last night, you will see in 2 different fights, where what I am saying is true. One fight was this one, watch this and tell us what you think the Brazilian fighter is doing wrong. He was winning up until he got knocked out. He made a huge mistake when leaning in with his head as a lot of fighters do for some reason, and got caught and then wonders why it was stopped. Zhang Mingyang defeats Brendson Ribeiro by KO (left hand) at 1:41 of Round 1 Then, there was another fight where the guy did a really fast spinning heel kick and fell to the ground because of how he did it. He didn't get knocked out but he kept being dominated by the japanese fighter because he was doing moves and kept going for a knee bar when it went to the ground, and could not execute the knee bar, or the heel hook. He wasted time and lost a decision because of showboating . Rinya Nakamura defeats Carlos Vera by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Japanese prospect Rinya Nakamura continued his unbeaten start to his career on Saturday, registering a unanimous decision win over Carlos Vera. Let us know what you think about these 2 fights if you do not mind. I know that you are really busy, so I will understand if you are not able to get to it. Take care and keep training. Oss!!!!!

Commentary was very biased from the start towards Volkanovski. Entire thing sounded like a cope for how Volk was doing good, and honestly you might be a brilliant boxer but when it comes to MMA you are very one-dimensional and show that you don’t exactly know what you’re watching. Not hate, but very very obvious. Lots of discrediting Ilia and reconciling Volk’s bad decision making, For example “Good defense moving back using shoulder for defense” when clearly he’s putting his chin way up in the air.
