One of the many things i love about the yakuza series, is that throughout the journey of having play all the series i have played, you can see not only the character's growth from one game to another, but the cities as well... The changes occur in the environment as stores open/close, landmark/building been built over the course of the game as the time goes on, make me feel like living in the world alongside those character you played, reminiscing along with them what changes n all... To me, the main stories of the game is full roller coaster of emotions with those substory that act sort of emotional brakes with the sometimes silly/crazy mission😂 that you encounter as you going through the cities spending your time really make me more n more attached to the series😊

the combat really isnt that deep. If you think about it, the controls are very simple as it is a beat em up. The thing with legend runs + no damage is that the ability tree gives you certain moves where the game is mostly just timing and patience. That in itself isnt that deep.

The way you incorporate the environment into the fight is pretty cool though

Don’t disagree but what I judge as deep or not is when a combat system is complex enough that you can see a distinct difference between a veteran player and a new player when they’re allowed to use the same abilities at will. Kind of like how fighting games like SF6 with modern controls isn’t all that complex either but a veteran player using it will smoke a new player in a heartbeat.
