Just to be 'that guy', Kiryu's ABSOLUTELY killed people. The joke started due to a translation mix-up stating that he never killed. The correct translation being more along the lines of he doesn't kill unless it's in self-defense.

For the uninitiated: Cabaret Clubs in Japan, are a type of nightclub where female hostesses for a fee will spend time with a client engaging in conversation and drinking. It's in a grey area of Japanese law where it's not prostitution in the traditional sense, but you are paying for a service. These clubs generally provide a relaxing environment with drinking, conversation and entertainment through karaoke or more elaborate stage acts. The Yakuza series generally condenses the practice to it's base elements and status in Japanese night life.
@beo3828

But some will definitely add prostitution under the table. Or under the bed, whatever.

Trash taste podcast went in depth about cabaret clubs, they even interviewed their friend who works in one and he's never really described or mentioned any shadier joints most cabaret clubs despite being owned by different people, they are actually all related or connected to each other meaning if there were such cases of under the table deals and such they would know and they would most likely report it to the authorities, other than that the way cabaret clubs are described is that they are basically like therapy and counseling except no one has an expertise or phd on the field and there's more drinking and entertainment because why not, the rumors and bias about cabaret clubs being a loophole for criminal acts has long been dead as cabaret clubs and being a host is actually considered a legitimate and viable career option and there's really a lot to learn to being a host it involves a lot of psychology and sociology and people really look up on hosts there are even famous hosts who were graduates from top notch schools and built up a great reputation open appearing on televisions and branching out into show business, but that's where the problem lies because contrary to popular belief working for show business in Japan is shadier than working on a cabaret club, at least the club cares for their hosts but being an actor or voice actor is mostly freelance and management involving them is corrupt, so if ever you consider becoming famous in Japan don't appear on television as an actor or a reporter just don't work for the television, just be a host and you'll end up on tv eventually plus you earn more than actors for doing something actually meaningful and act better since your not working with a script

@@traphimawari7760 "hey I'm going to show this to thousands of people...do you know if there are instances where sex is offered?" Did some light digging and there is a possibility that the cult in Yakuza 0 is based on a real life cult that committed a terrorist attack in Japan by planting Sarin gas in several train station in 1995, they also apparently have things like Anthrax, a KZbinr named AkiDearest have an interesting documentary on it

Now go and play it on stream. It's f*cking awesome. Seriously. You can get this game for maybe twenty quid, there are no paid DLCs, it runs beautifully on PC (although I do recommend playing it with a controller) and you can easily get 70-80 hours of content out of it. And it's really, really fun, both to play and to watch.

I don't think it should've made it into the other games because the disco trend died after the 80s (and also by being only in Yakuza 0 made the minigame unique and special). But it would've been nice if Kiwami 1 and 2 had a different and new type of dancing minigame inside Club Debolah that was *kinda* similar. I was disappointed that place was only used for plot, substories and bouncer missions.
