I feel so harsh about names! But none of them seem “right” 😂 I’m stressing myself out.

So many things to consider when choosing names ...the name in full, abbreviated, as a nickname, etc. just to avoid giving a child/person a burden. I did like Josephine Loveless but no ...perhaps Lisa Michelle Loveless is more complete. I think, as with naming mine, it will just appear before you ...out of the blue. Good luck ☺

I agree about names, so much to think about especially going forward in life. Names that constantly need spelling out but also be aware of what a name will become as a nickname. It seems most names get shortened even if the parents don't want it. Turns out my 'David' is mostly 'Dave' and my daughter Joanna is now 'Jo' (but I'm happy about that because I like that).

My two sisters have names that constantly need spelling and they always get pronounced wrong, so I’ve heard enough of their complaining my whole life to know how important it is 😂 and I’m super aware of the nicknames! Having a William I always have to fight people off trying to call him Billy.

I was convinced when you were speaking of Molly that you were going to say Harry Potter, and then you said drugs. 🤣🤣 I was like, huh, that went in a different direction than I was expecting. We have an Eleniel, or Ellie for short. It’s elvish for Star Madian because my husband is a huge Tolkien fan. Our neighbor has an Elowyn. Also Ellie for short. I just thought it was pretty.

When I had my 2 we were not told the sea so we had a boys name and a girls name picked out before our son was born, pregnancy 2 we still loved the girls name but could not decide on a bots. Fortunately she came along so we weren't still deciding after the birth after all. Choosing names is hard ..especially when you add in getting good initials, and shortening or nick name possibilities. I'm sure you will choose the perfect name for your baby

Names are hard! When I was expecting my first son we really liked the name Toby. My grandmother phoned me to say I couldn’t name him after an ornament that is so ugly (google Toby Jug)! I said we could call him anything we liked and she said if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here to name a child! Honestly I laughed so much - she wasn’t being that serious 😂 Anyways, we didn’t name him that because an ad came on TV and it featured a dog called Toby and it was a very popular ad!

If you are a fan of Superman ... Lynn Loveless = LL (Lana Lang , Lois Lane, Lena Luthor etc.) Or any of the L names in your list. Also makes it easy to use LL instead of signing full name. Thinking of other simple names - Misty, Wendy, Amber

Totally understand regarding cultural appropriation Rebecca and I have always been impressed with your consistency in pronunciation of Te Reo and your respect towards the Maori culture, both belong to the land, the people are merely guardians and vessels of knowledge. “Aotearoa” for a middle name would be very appropriate especially if your child is born (tangata whenua) in NZ, your child would every right. If you have any issues with anyone, please mention my name as a friend

You will also find others who have no problem or difficulty pronouncing or at the very least, trying and showing respect as I have witnessed you do on several occasions. Many cultures speak several languages. Thank you for taking the time to read our comment and responded to our suggestion for a Maori middle name, the significance surrounding that name the unique and special bond/connection to this country, that your child will have always, we truly appreciate it.

That was very interesting. I've never actually liked my name, if it had of been Steve, that would have been better as that's usually what I get called. "Stephen" is from the 60's, and that's where it should stay. I still quite like the floral themed names, there is also Marigold, the nicknames Goldie or Mari could apply here. There is also Cheyanne, or even Tinkerbell.

Hello, you are actually pronouncing Amaris wrong. It rhymes with glamorous It’s said Am-uh-ris. It’s Hebrew for promised by God How do I know, because it’s my actual name lol. And I HATE when people call me A-MAR-is. Strange so many put the emphasis on the wrong part. This is the first time I’ve ever seen my name in a baby video. But I had a feeling the pronunciation would be off haha story of my life
@Becca.Loveless
@Becca.Loveless Жыл бұрын
Which is exactly why I want to steer clear of any name with an ambiguous pronunciation/spelling! A life time of constant corrections. I think it’s because the American tendency is to never put the emphasis on the first syllable of anything. It’s usually on the second (but not always - English is confusing and dumb). When we first moved here it had to be explained that a lot of Maori words with three syllables or more (like Kumara) have the emphasis on the first. I was saying ku-MAR-a when it’s actually said KU-mar-a.

"Lynn is more of a guys name." WHAT! In what universe is the girls name "Lynn" ever a boys name? You just have to keep throwing the names around until one starts to stand out as the one you don't want to eliminate, and that'll be the one. "Kina" Is a sea urchin endemic to New Zealand, pronounced Kin-ah. So that's how Kiwi's would see her name. Loretta Loveless sounds like a movie star, could work. Arwen sounds too much like Owen or Aaron.
