Facts. During Covid I saw their online live shows. When they toured the US, I saw them at 4 different gigs. Standing just a few feet away from them, you really get to see their awesomeness. Misa is way more busy on her bass than I realized. Saiki is mesmerizing. She has a great stage presence.

​@@TherealSeriousMoonlight Giovanni instrumental is a good example for Madame Duke to see just how fast Kanami can clearly and rythmically pluck notes. I tried to put a stop watch to it and came up with 240 to 280 notes per minute. I recall in an interview Kanami was inquiring how fast Eddie Van Halen or someone like that could play. A number was tossed out around 235 per minute. I think she took on that challenge, and set a new speed record.

That was quite an assault on the senses you put yourself thru. When I first heard a few of these, I couldn't take it all in wasn't sure if i liked them or not, but after giving multiple listens to each song, there was always the same conclusion about each song...Frigging GENIUS ! Their slower melodic songs like About Us, and also acoustic version of Anemone, they turn around and rip your heart out. These girls, only create masterpieces of power and emotion. Hello, Madame Duke! I hope you are having a wonderful day. Miku (rhythm guitarist/vocalist) always greets the fans with this statement, "Welcome Home Masters and Princesses, we are Band Maid" or at least something to that effect. So, I guess that makes you a new princess, or since a lot of the fan base refers to themselves as Maidiacs, I guess you could be a Maidiac, whichever you prefer. From that sample you can guess that Band Maid is kind of its own genre. Kanami (lead guitarist) likes to write complex and fast songs, so sometimes it takes several times to catch all of the intricacies within her music. They do have some slower ballad type songs like, "Daydreaming" and "Endless Story" and "Anemone" and "Awkward" and even acoustic versions of some of their songs. Thank you for reacting to Band Maid again. Please take very good care of yourself and I hope you have an absolutely amazing week.

As you are probably well aware , Miku has taken on the stage persona of a pigeon (hence the use of the abbreviated Japanese pigeon onomatopoeia, "po", at the end of her sentences). But lately, I began to notice that Miku also walks and stands pigeon toed (feet turned in rather the more common straight forward to outward positioning of the feet). It is obvious in your Band-Maid background frame.

My thoughts on the five: 1) The dual in the live version of Don't You Tell Me is glorious. Next time you listen to it, make sure you catch the groove that Akane is putting down during the dual. 2) Blooming is a fantastic song, and I think the section of Blooming from the bridge to the end is the best non-live Band Maid that there is (except for some BAND-MAIKO songs that slay me). 3) Hate? is a decent song on the album, but the live version is has so much emotion pouring out of it. It pushes the limit of almost too much stuff going on musically, but the chaos fits the song. 4) Rinnie draws me in with Akane's double kick at the beginning, but my favorite little bit is Miku's slides in the middle that make a little screeching sound. 5) Black Hole is relentless.

Congratulations 🎊 You may have discovered the secret to uncovering the magic of Band Maid quickly. Sensory overload. I think you described it perfectly 👌🏼 when you said each song was a new discovery, that you were never bored. Believe it or not? They have wildly different songs from even these songs today. Insanely different. There were moments when you seemed a bit…searching…trying to find the groove, particularly in the opening of “Rinne.” Like “Black Hole,” it’s a dense, chaotic sound that takes a few listens to catch. It’s not a simple beat that you’re tapping along to immediately. 😁 hooray! 🎉 “Blooming” seemed to pass the test for you 🎊 which means my Tiny Hat 🎩 will not be eaten today 😂 Thank you for such a fun reaction! Great selection of songs from us maniacs, especially No God. My second Choice would have been Blooming. Probably one of the best hard rock songs on the last 30? years. One of the few songs I would suggest studio over live is Warning. (Besides, the video is excellent and really fun to watch). It's a complicated song and they've yet to pull off that song well live. Yet.

But @d&c is correct, the '24 Spinoff show was incredibly well mixed and everything hit super hard. I hope they release some of that stuff, whether on the main channel or Prime or whatever.

Thank you for the wonderful comments. They have more than 130 songs on their own. There are only wonderful songs, and there are no bad work. That's amazing! Rinne was a response to some critic accusing them of sounding too "poppy"; it didn't sit well with them. Hence,the "shut up" ending. It was deliberately shot in 8mm film to mimic Saiki's favorite Japanese horror film where a man was filming people as they died to see their spirits leave them. I think that's the gist of it. Great reaction Madame Duke! The crazy thing about Band-Maid's music for me is that no matter how many times I listen to any of their songs, or watch their videos, I never get tired of them. I can't say that about any other band I've heard in my 58 years! I first heard the song "Thrill" and since then, I haven't gone 1 day without hearing one of their songs. Seeing them live in Detroit in 2023 was surreal and something I'll never forget.

It's a thing. A lot of people get goosebumps and very emotional. It doesn't go away. Band Maid Interlude, Extended Intro, etc Compilation - Part2 (not many vocals) I love the lyric in the song Hate? (there is a question mark) the lyric is "Ten minutes of limp gymnastics" Miku the rhythm player writes the lyrics. Imagine that cute woman with the adorable pig tails writing that lyric. I think the song is Dice the lyric is "Candy or whip which do you want"

If you want to go through all their songs, you've got some work ahead of you. Hopefully, this will help some: All their releases up until now with a bit of commentary. MAID IN JAPAN (2014) - A solid album, although it seems they were still trying to find their sound. Personal favorites are "Knockin' on your heart", "Big Dad" with Miku as lead vocal, and "Ai to Jonetsu no Matador". New Beginning (2015) - This contains their breakout song "Thrill", the video of which went viral and saved the band from being broken up. Songs on this that I don't think get enough recognition are "FREEZER", "Price of Pride", "Arcadia Girl" and "Don't apply the brake". This also contains the R-rated and entirely in English "Don't Let Me Down". Brand New MAID (2016) - This album has "alone", the first song written and arranged by the band and approved by management for release. Personal favorites that are not heard much are "ORDER" and "YURAGU". The video for "Before Yesterday" was filmed in Seattle when they were invited to perform at an amime convention. Choose Me/Daydreaming Single (2017) - "Choose Me" is an absolute killer of a song. "Daydreaming" was a request from Saiki to Kanami for a slow song she could sing and, for me, has a definite U2 power ballad vibe to it. Also contains an early version of "Play". The A-version of this also came with a Blu-Ray with 10 songs from the live show they did at Shinkiba Studio Coast in 2017. Just Bring It (2017) - An absolute banger of an album. Thirteen songs and not even a so-so one on this. "Puzzle" is a god damn masterpiece. Same with "Cross". "Don't you tell ME" can be found on this album. World Domination (2018) - Usually when a band releases a fantastic album, the follow-up can't live up to it. Not here though. "Play", a favorite for a lot of people, is probably the weakest song on this album. A 8/10 song on an album where everything else is 10/10. Don't believe me? Just listen to Saiki belting it out on "I Can't Live Without You" on the opener. Start over/Screaming Single (2019) - "Start over" is a departure from their usual style and has more of a pop/jazz feel to it. But don't worry, "Screaming" is there to give you that hard-rock fix. If you were one of the lucky few to snag the A-Version of this, you got the Blu-Ray of their fantastic 2018 live show at Tokyo ZEPP. CONQUEROR (2019) - Style wise, this is probably their most varied album up to this point, not that they abandoned their hard rock roots. My take is that they want to stretch themselves musically and they pull it off with this one. The band was approached by David Bowie's producer Tony Visconti and the result is "The Dragon Cries". "Blooming" and "輪廻 (Rinne)" are on this album. BAND-MAIKO (2019) - If you like BAND-MAID, you'll love BAND-MAIKO. Six BAND-MAID songs with a twist of traditional Japanese along with a new release "祇園町 (Gion-cho)". A follow-up from their April Fool's video, "Secret MAIKO Lips". Different/Don't be Long Single (2020) - "Let's go! It's showtime!" If you thought that BAND-MAID walked away from hard-rock, this will set you straight. About Us Single (2021) - To be honest, I haven't listened to this enough to have an opinion on it. Unseen World (2021) - Like CONQUEROR, a great album that showcases how versatile they are musically. I would call "Manners" a statement song of them declaring, "This is who we are and what we've been through." For some reason, this song is on the album twice. One particular favorite is the head-banging "Chemical Reaction" which somewhat reminds me of ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man". "Black Hole" can be found on this album. BAND-MAID ONLINE ACOUSTIC OKYU-JI (2022) - During the lock-down, BAND-MAID did a live acoustic concert and this is the CD release of that. So familiar songs done with acoustic instruments and style. Unleash EP (2022) - My only criticism of this is that it has only eight songs, but what it lacks in quantity, it certainly doesn't lack in quality. Look how many styles they work into "Influencer". Kanami going crazy on "From Now On". "Hate?" is also on this album. I've already pre-ordered their upcoming album, that's how confident I am in their talent. EDIT: Corrected for spelling, grammar, clarity, and attached the songs in this video to their respective albums.

NO GOD. There is no bad recommendation, it's all good. If you want some more traditional stompers try FATE or CHEMICAL REACTION. They have a huge catalog and it's all very listenable. The newest album is being released in September if you want to get your hands on it. I've got all their production and there's nothing bad. Even the really old stuff they didn't write is very well done.

9:57 Are we talking about bebop/jazz here? (Sorry, English is not my native language.) If so, I'd be very happy. I've always felt jazz when I listen to BAND-MAID's music. Miles Davis is the best sound creator and Charlie Parker is the best player, but I think BAND-MAID is as good as them. By the way, didn't you get tired of listening to hard songs? It would be interesting to collect softer songs next time. Like Miles, BAND-MAID has all kinds of songs.

"Shut up!" Saiki was telling off critics who thought Band-Maid had gone soft. Rinne was shot in the grainy 8mm style of Saiki's favourite Japanese horror films. Saiki has an interesting range of hobbies: photographing trains, the Hanshin Tigers baseball team, fashion and shoes, and horror movies.
