Certainly Saiki's ascendance to second-level lyricist and storyteller. The song is about connecting with those long gone, but who live on through their music. The lyrics about 'when we met', 'I can feel you in the sky'. About cultures and people who had their stories and songs marked as 'forbidden', but discovered long after. And also, how their music can live long after we're all gone, and it can help people far into the future. And how their fans help that to happen. It's just beautiful all around, and perfect imagery with the hand meeting the shadows hand. We found you, we found your stories, your existence. Just breathtaking. Suddenly Saiki has become Band-Maids official Philosopher. I'm so here for it. Great vid as always!
@ApexRadius2 ай бұрын
Yes, thank you. There are a few incomplete, semi-speculative takes on what inspired the lyrics being posted around. You've summarized what Saiki actually said very well and it's such a strong message, it should be understood. Of course, the lyrics are abstract enough to be interpreted many ways but the visuals in the video, the jazz break, and the different movements in the song are more meaningful when you know the intended message. It is true that music was inspired by Kamami asking herself, "What is a life?" after losing someone close to her (she could be referring to her grandmother, although that happened quite a while ago, or it could be someone else). The composition reflects all the ups and downs of a life, but that isn't directly what the lyrics are about. It was a jumping-off point for Saiki.
@charlescoleman40172 ай бұрын
You are so right about Saiki. She has always been a great singer, even though she's gotten better through the years. But that woman is such a powerhouse in every respect right now. I stand in awe of her.
@OtobokeGaijin62182 ай бұрын
Saiki expressly states what the lyrics are about in an interview, as summarized above. There’s an interesting w i k article in this regard, “Music censorship”. Given that she says she researched the subject, Saiki is probably referencing books that have been published in Japanese such as “禁じられた歌" (lit. “forbidden songs”)-she uses the same expression in the interview (though she doesn’t specify that or any other book).

Thank you for reaction Miss Nitt Picc. The only thing I can say is that Kanami Tono should be a required subject for any music student. Her ability to bring together so many different musical parts so seamlessly and make it sound so good is something that I think so few people ever have been able to accomplish. Accomplished is the word I would use for what she is doing with their music it’s just great. Surround her with the people she is creating music with makes them “ the best band on the planet”. Thank you for the musical insights and admiration of this band that we all love. Have a great week with the kiddos.

An epic reaction to an epic narrative. I too imagined an orchestra and chorus when I first heard this song. If Kanami hasn't already composed an orchestral score, this would be a good song for her to start with. Band-Maid is not only a place where passion meets persistence, but also where emotion meets intelligence.

Good evening from England Princess. I watched your reaction to this around three hours ago. Then I went off around you tube and looked at a bunch of others reacting to the song. I have to tell you, no-one does it like you do. "Nitt Picc" finally dawned on me today. That's exactly what you do. But you do it with insight, knowledge, appreciation and passion. Also wonder...(the little squeal when the real hand and the shadow hand came together). Priceless! I look forward to Band Maid Sunday for the next ten years at least. For a "dumb" musician Sistine Chapel was spot on, as we say here. I've mentioned elsewhere that, to me, this feels like 2024's version of Alone with their new independence. (But without Saiki throwing equipment around the place). Also, if anyone's interested, I counted eleven transitions. Keep up the good work young lady. I'm with you for as long as I last.

What would you call that transition (on your video post) from 12:54 to 13:15? I referred to it as an "anthemic repose', but I don't think that is correct? It's one of those amazing beautiful things to hear sometimes, within a song. It's all hands up, being at church, just sheer joy and freedom! It's literally like an endorphin releaser? Hello, NittPick. Sorry for only reacting now. Yes, it's a very beautiful MV for a superb song which perfectly represents the style and musical texture of Band-Maid, skilled in mixing genres. It's prog-rock, a genre that I like and I like Band-Maid partly for that. Saiki's lyrics are very philosophical and I didn't expect her to reach such a level of writing. I thought Miku was the only poet. My apologies? Sai-Chan. Thank you for this very good analysis.

If you like the more ballady songs, listen to "The one" from this same cd. But wait to see if there is going to be an MV. To me, this is the best song Kanami has written. This is song composition and arrangement at its finest. I don't know if this is true, but several comments have said Kanami wrote this to honor her grandmother who passed away shortly before their 10th anniversary final concert at Yokohama Arena. Saiki's vocals and Miku's harmonies are on another level. This is my favorite song on the cd. It brought Alan from Dicodec (another reactor) to tears after listening to just a few seconds of the song. In my opinion, this song will be the new closing song for their concerts. It is the power ballad of all power ballads.

Following in story in the lyrics: Imagine in few hundred years all that is left of Band-Maid is the sheet music, now known collectively as Kanami's 4 minute symphonies performed by orchestras around the world. The music world is buzzing as researchers announce they are working some ancient video files of Band Maid shocking everyone as they rediscover this dense rich music was played by a 5 piece rock band. Dicodec has this song broken into the stems of each instrument on his channel, being able isolate how each instrument interacts with each other and vocal make you realize now finely crafted every note is composed. What hit me years ago with Band-Maid was just the richness of the composition, so many interlocking parts you just don't normally hear in popular music. And can Kanami write a jazz album or at least few songs. Between the jazz part and this song and when got a little jazzy on the acoustic album it just leaves you wanting more. Is there any musician in Japan that can't play jazz at a professional level?

Quite wild when we look back and see what the already talented Maids of 10 years ago have become, isn't it? :) Yes, I wish the whole world knew these ladies since then, but on the other hand I'm glad that they were able to determine their own development step by step and in a considered way. I mean, that comparing the ladies to a wine that was already sweet and lovely back then, but has ripened over the years into a real experience for the senses, is not far off. :) And that applies to each of them and to the whole package. From their music, to their visual presentation, all the way to their respective personalities, which I find incredibly interesting and appealing... A quick rise would certainly not have done them any favors. The idea of Band-Maid x Symphony Orchestra is an interesting one, isn't it? This thought has been popping up in my head a lot, especially since their X-Mas Acoustic concert. I think this could be something really outstanding. Especially if the composer is creative and open to Kanami's ideas and both would work closely on such a project. Oh, those mind games. :) _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever.
