My hot take is that Boston Baro becomes the hot riser of our entire farm system this year. Watch that young man take off. In fact, we are so loaded at SS between Baro, Snyder, Vargas and Rodriguez that one of them will cause the Mets to move Lindor to 3B for the last few years of his contract.

Degrom def should get his number retired if Piazza got his. Degrom is a home grown talent who played his best years of his career here. He played in World Series for the Mets and started game 5 in the DS while going against a peak Greinke. Degrom also has the years as a Met under his belt to definitely get his number retired.

DeGrom had more accolades as a Met, than Doc and Darryl. He was the best pitcher in baseball, must watch TV. I didn't watch Doc & Darryl, I don't agree their numbers should have been retired. DeGrom is a Mets legend and is #2 after Seaver.

I will say that for at least two seasons, Doc was absolutely the best pitcher in baseball. His 1985 season was legit the best season I've ever seen by a pitcher. He was phenomenal.

@@dashx1103agree, however deGrom’s 2 cy young awards back to back and his explosive Fastball 101-102 and un-hittable slider along with a change is the goat of his time and counting.
@bena4072

@@dashx1103I don’t agree. DeGrom does not deserve his number retired more than Doc or Strawberry - that is just silly. Doc was probably more dominant 84-86: ROY, then Cy young and triple crown & had such an impact on the game and on NY - they started the K corner because of him!! The whole city was captivated and excited to see him pitch whereas DeGrom was exciting for Mets fans but no one outside of baseball cared. Doc was same with Strawberry-kids across the country no matter who they rooted for copied his distinctive stance and HR swing. I loved watching DeGrom but don’t think you need to say he deserves his number retired more than Doc

My hot take is McNeil is playing well. But so is Acuna. So Acuna becomes our every day CF and Jeff 2B by the allstar break. Siri and Taylor's bats just don't get it done so they don't stay consistently in the lineup
@dashx1103
@dashx1103 24 күн бұрын
I just kind of advise people to pump the brakes a bit on Acuna. He came up at a crucial time and did great ... so kudos to him. But it was an incredibly short sample. I think some fans have just extrapolated his short-term success over a season and believe he'll be a superstar. I hope he has that in him, .. but it is far from anything bankable. There is a reason Acuna was sliding down the Mets' prospect boards. I hope for the best, but anyone thinking Acuna is a guy who can be penciled into a lineup in '25 ... I think that is a stretch.

Maybe if deGrom comes back I could see 48 being retired but the likely of that is low given deGrom doesn't like it in New York, that is why he left in the first place. But the fact that the Mets are getting number retirement happy is concerning. I don't want to turn into the Yankees who have barely any normal numbers left.

Carlos Beltran has a very good chance to go into the Hall of Fame as a Met. And if that happens they will have to retire number. and deGrom is a lock to get his number retired one day. One of the best Mets ever. And I don't think they're going over board on retiring numbers. They're just doing what the Wilpons should've done years ago. I mean after Seaver in 1988, there wasn't another one until Mike Piazza in 2013.

I would put the mets at #1 for Sasaki. Id almost guarantee it now. The L.A. Fires will hurt that market. These fires are going to force a lot of people to move. The fires arent even done yet. We dont even know if dodger stadium will be done with construction in time now for the season. The Padres are also going thru a legal battle. The mets actually seem like the best spot. The L.A. area will have the cost of a natural disaster of all time. Right now its predicted to cost more than the 2 hurricanes that hit florida this last year.

I enjoy listening to you guys, but respectfully, you have absolutely no idea and don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to your take on Doc and Darryl. I could argue that I would put both of them in front of Jake. They were a phenomenon. Pure electricity when they were playing. So much that opposing teams’ attendances drastically increased when Gooden was on the mound. It was a nice event watching deGrom’s greatness, but Gooden and Straw were transcendent in those times. When Gooden was on the mound, the entire city stopped and watched. Even non-fans. There was never anything like it since. Not even Jeter nor Judge nor Harvey nor Clemens.
