The Jerami Grant trade idea is interesting. At first I thought, "Your'e trying to win a championship, don't be afraid to trade a young player who will reach his full potential after your championship window has closed for a player who can make more of an impact right away (Jerami Grant)". Then, I realized that the Bulls would be paying their 4th option (maybe 5th depending on how you view Lonzo) 20 million dollars a season for the next 2 seasons. This would essentially lock in their current roster as to what they have to work with to win a championship due to the salary cap, and I just don't think making a move like that is smart without truly knowing how far your team can go, as this roster has no playoff experience together, and most players don't have any at all. If they want to make a win now trade involving their younger players, I just think there are better options out there.
@fabiosousa74583 жыл бұрын
Patrick Williams is better than Jerami Grant for this team. Firstly, because of his contract, has you said we'd be paying 20M to a 4th/5th option. And, in the end, Patrick Williams with these guys behind me, like Lonzo and Caruso, I believe he can be a better defender for this team than Grant. His potential is trough the roof
@BOnYTB3 жыл бұрын
The problem is, Patrick Williams is out for this season, and then he’s already making a ton of money for a guy on a rookie deal. It’s not like he was the 12th pick. He’s making $7,422,000 this season to not play. He’s making $7,775,400 next year, will be coming off missing an entire season, and will have no chemistry with this new team and no playoff experience that he’d have if he was playing now. Then in 23-24 he’s making $9,835,881. So it’s not like he’s making a few million dollars or something. Also, you’re basically locked in to this core regardless. LaVine is getting the max after this season. So for the next 2-3 seasons (as long as DeMar is there) you’re locked in. You can make small improvements with like the TPMLE, but beside that there’s not much to do. All of the future picks are basically traded, etc. They’re all-in. If this team doesn’t work out in the playoffs, the odds that Williams comes through next season and saves the team are very low. He still is extremely young and needs development. If things didn’t work out with Grant, you could flip him next season. He’s always going to have value. He has a track record. P-Will is still raw and will only have one season under his belt, and a season with mostly no fans too where a lot of people shot well from 3. His 3P shot was on very low volume and if that turns out to not be real (he didn’t shoot well from 3 in college) then he’s not really going to have any value or barely any. All I’m saying is that it’s a risk either way. Not going fully all-in could be a big risk, and trading for Grant could be a big risk. Same thing with Coby White. How valuable is he to CHI when Caruso is back? Especially since Ayo has shown some flashes of being good. Coby is up for an extension fairly soon too. I think teams regret not going all-in when they’re contending more often than they regret going all-in, especially when they’ve already mortgaged the majority of their future to do so. Also Grant is making $20M this year and just over that the next. You’re not getting someone of that caliber for cheaper. That’s just not how it works with the cap going up. Also, big wings are scarce. Very scarce. If they don’t trade for Grant this year, then they’re risking being a piece away from having that much of a better chance to get through the East in the playoffs. They’re also risking P-Will coming back next year and not having nearly as much trade value as he does now. Same with Coby White. Also how many big wings are going to be on the market next season if they do decide that’s what they need? But ya it’s not a no brainer either way. If I were them I’d lean toward the Grant trade if possible…but either way it’s a big risk. I just feel like why did you go this far to cap yourselves out with aging vets like DeMar and Vuce, get the #1 seed, then not actually do everything you possibly can to maximize your championship window over the next 3-4 years. Note that guys like Jamal Murray and MPJr will likely be back and 100% next year, Kawhi, Klay will have a season under his belt and have the rust off, GSW might decide to make a trade to get even better. Maybe Memphis decides to make a big trade. MIL could get even stronger. PHI might not have the Ben Simmons situation figured out this season, but they likely will next. Kyrie might figure out a way to play home games next season, he might not this year. I could go on but you get my point. The field will certainly be tougher, and it’s not likely CHI has the 1 seed at this point next season. So it’s risky either way. They’re lacking a big wing who can hit 3s, and Grant can even play some small ball 5. It’ll give them another look in the playoffs, and they’ll have like 30+ games to gel before then. Grant has experience playing that role on DEN also. Believe it or not I’m on the fence on what they should do, or I definitely was when I hit reply. I lean toward trading for Grant depending on the terms of the deal now, but like I said it’s not a no brainer at all. Just giving my 2c on whether to do it or not. Gotta trust in your GM if you’re a Bulls fan. If he makes the trade, ride with it. If not, then maybe it wasn’t the right thing to do. He deserves the benefit of the doubt so far for sure.

Here's my personal prediction that I've had all season long: Giannis will win MVP and FMVP this season Now I'll give my own takes on these predictions: - No, Jerami Grant does not provide Chicago with what they currently need, which is 3pt defense, and Pat during his rookie season excelled in that area. His defensive versatility & ability to guard positions 1-4 effectively as well as being a potentially knockdown shooter (~40% from 3 so far albeit on relatively few attempts). Chicago is the most efficient bucket getting team in the NBA so far this season, and Grant provides value in areas that they don't really need it. - My fav young core in the league might be Orlando. The Cavs feel like an obvious answer, but Orlando's young core I feel is really slept on. Cole Anthony is having a nice season so far averaging 20-6-6, Franz Wagner the rookie is really impressing me, they have 2 solid twin towers in WCJ and Mo Bamba, Jalen Suggs has a lot of potential to be great, and Markelle Fultz hasn't even played yet this season. Orlando has a lot of good young players, I'm not sure if they'll be able to mesh with each other, but in different situations I think they can really put the league on notice to how good they are. - LeBron at center is great for the Lakers in the short term, but it's not a long term solution. LA's best lineups will be with AD at the 5, even though he doesn't want to play the 5, he can bang down there with the big boys. As versatile as Lebron is, in a playoff series he's not doing anything to a Jokic or a Giannis or a Embiid because he's just too little to bang against actual bigs for an entire playoff series, plus he's old so he needs to conserve energy for his offensive duties. Until AD comes back though, Lebron at center is the way to go. - What the fuck dude lmao, no. Evan Mobley is having one of the greatest defensive rookie seasons ever and helping the Cavs to a record that almost nobody thought they'd have by now. Giddey is a nice player, very rough around the edges but with some time & development I think he could be OKC's future PG next to Shai, but.... no lol - RJ has gone backwards mostly just by himself. His shooting percentages are all considerably down from last season, and even though he's roughly getting the same amount of responsibility as last year, he's failing to capitalize with his shot. I will say that Kemba being on this team does hurt RJ a little, given that Kemba works best with the ball in his hands and so does RJ, but RJ's usage rate is actually higher than last year. It may be that Thibs is running different sets for RJ because he's trying to incorporate Kemba into his system moreso, but RJ's regression is mostly his own I think. Also Zion (when healthy) and Ja are also just flat out better players. - Potentially I could see Houston's rebuild being short, but I think it largely depends on who they draft this year. I think Chet Holmgren is the can't miss prospect of this draft so far, and he'd especially help Houston with his accurate shooting and rim protection, and if they can sign a 3&D wing in the offseason, I could see Houston making a playoff push next season if the rest of their core develops well enough. - Nope - Depending on how Klay's defense is when he gets back into game shape, there's little doubt that the Warriors are even more of title contenders than they already are. I'm a little concerned about how much of his defensive ability will be impacted by his injuries, especially on ball where he has the most value on D, but obviously even if his defense is only 70% of what it used to be, his shooting ability alone & his own gravity to draw defenders towards him and away from Steph makes him so totally valuable to the Warriors' success (Steph, Klay & Dray have the highest winning % ever as a trio when all are on the floor) - That guy is DEFINITELY talking about Draymond when he says that lol, but I do sort of agree with his point. At the end of the day, the all star game is about entertainment, and the players with the gaudiest stats are the players that are most loved and that people want to see more. All NBA teams I feel are more suited to those Draymond-like players who impact winning at an elite level, but aren't really entertaining to watch. Personally, if I were a casual fan I'd prefer to watch KAT in the all star game more than I'd want to watch Draymond. That said, I do still think the DPOY this year deserves the all star nod. - Draymond himself has said he's noticed Jokic's improvements on defense compared to last season. Jokic has the highest DBPM in the league. His impact is very noticeable even though it may not look it because of how he moves. Besides, even if his defense was horrible, he's still an MVP lol, averaging 26-14-7 for the season is no joke.

With Josh Giddey, you provided excellent examples in recent history of past ROY. The only thing that I thought it can be is media coverage and recognition. I notice with ESPN they will go more for city market, recency, popularity, hype, more than talent. So with your examples: Luka Doncic- Dallas, hype (for this I mean his age entering into the NBA after playing overseas at a younger age and the amount of success there). Ben Simmons-Philadelphia, former #1 overall pick, part of "The Process", coveted even before going to LSU. Andrew Wiggins-Cleveland (Kind of a stretch based on city depending on how you view it, but definitely has more history in comparison to OKC), former #1 overall pick, once had comparisons to being the next LeBron (at least from what I remember), and being a part of the trade for LeBron James to get Kevin Love. Kyrie Irving- Cleveland, former #1 overall pick, played at Duke, was the first pick after LeBron left for the Miami Heat. I've noticed some games that Josh Giddey has had so far and it has reminded me of LaMelo Ball's rookie season last year (someone else who also got recognition based on some of the things I've mentioned earlier). Last time OKC got great coverage was during the Durant years, IMO. Now the only time OKC gets any recognition is when Sam Presti gets ANOTHER 1st round pick from a trade in which the only people excited for it are NBA insiders and avid basketball fans. I would think with Giddey, that he still has time based on how the team is playing and how he has contributed so far; but I'm honestly unsure because I didn't even know/realize that Franz Wagner is even higher in consideration for ROY until you told me. Just some of my thoughts based on the take and your response to it. Also, completely separate point, not gonna lie, I sincerely thought you were going give your hot dog take based on the thumbnail.

Memphis had a pretty quick rebuild, transitioning from Grit and Grind to Ja and Triple J with, like, just a couple of losing seasons. Raptors look to be heading back to the playoffs after only a couple of losing seasons since Kawhi left so that’s a pretty quick rebuild too. On the flip side, Sacramento seems to be in rebuild mode since the end of the Chris Webber era, Detroit is still trying to relive the glory days of Mr. Big Shot and Big Ben, and Orlando continues to look for their next big to take over from DwiHo. Then, you have the average 3/4/5 year rebuilds like “The Process” in Philly or the transition from “We Believe” to “Splash Bros” in Golden State, or the Bud led “starting 5 Player of the Month” to Ice Trae’s Hawks.

Maybe Grant didn't want to play for Denver for other reasons unknown to the public, or maybe J. Grant wanted to be a 1st option with Detroit, but now he wants to play with a contender, or maybe Grant gets traded and finds peace within his new role on his new team (Bulls). Who knows. But the 1 thing Bulls nation continues to do is overvalue Patrick Williams as some future generational talent. The kid avg'd 9 pts and 4 rebs playing starters mins as a rookie. What part of those stats do you want to develop?

Absolutely disagree with that giddey take but I could see where he is coming from in regards to other things. Like for example, Jokic as of now should be the unanimous MVP. If you look at the stats, the second best dude isn’t even remotely close. He is currently having the best season of all time (literally) and I wish people could just understand that.
@itsthekid98153 жыл бұрын
Often the record matters a lot. He is not the mvp currently and he is not having the best season of all time. Your take is the take of someone that has zero understanding of the game
@lindaiannarella3 жыл бұрын
@@itsthekid9815 record doesn’t matter when you are literally putting up the best season of all time. Right now he is averaging 26/14/7 on 56/36/77 splits, but those are just basic stats. If you want to go in depth, he is currently on pace to have a top 5 VORP season of all time, currently holds the #1 PER season of all time, and also currently holds the #1 spot in single season BPM. The nuggets this season (and last season) are also one of the best offensive teams of all time with jokic on the floor and one of the worst of all time with him off the floor. When nikola is on the floor, the nuggets are 2nd in ORTG and DRTG this season and are dead last with him off the floor. The nuggets possess a net rating of +13.4 when jokic is on the floor and a -15.7 when he is off the floor, which means they are +29.1 points better per 100 possessions with jokic on the floor than off. The person currently in 2nd (which is Giannis) holds a +22.5, which again, doesn’t come close to comparing to Jokic. Jokic is also seen as a « not good defender » when that just isn’t remotely close to the truth. He is 2nd in DBPM with 4.5 which is just barely behind draymond, the current best defender in the nba, who has 4.7. The player in 3rd, giannis, doesn’t come close with 3.5. He is also 5th in defensive rating behind some of the best defenders in the league, including draymond, gobert, looney, and allen. He is literally top 5 in everything in the 2021-2022 season, so if the season ended today he should easily be the unanimous MVP. These are all time numbers he is putting up, so while some players that are currently having good seasons are cool, they just don’t compare to the number jokic is putting up. People gotta start putting more respect on the dudes name.
@lindaiannarella3 жыл бұрын
@@SmackDownDragon98 well 1 Westbrook wasn’t the first player to average a triple double in a season, 2. The nuggets are in the same place that Westbrook was in when he won his MVP, and 3 that just shows that exceptions could be made for players who put up historic seasons. Like I said previously, jokic is no doubt putting up the best season of all time. How can you not give him the MVP? It just doesn’t make sense because there is quite literally nobody in nba history that has had a better season if Jokic keeps up this pace, which seems like he has no intentions of stopping barring injury.

The only person I ever played against in high school that I ever truly felt outmanned against was James Robinson, who is now the RB for the jags. It's kind of validating to be like damn this man is just better, and turns out that's the talent that makes the league.

Jerami Grant doesn’t add much, he’d be the 4th option and having to share touches… P.Will’s defense is already as good as the man’s and provides salary flexibility alongside youth to build with Lonzo & Coby if they keep him

I agree with your Lebron at center take, I would just say I think him playing center would take away from his game and he wouldn’t be able to guard the big centers in the paint. Likes of embiid and joker or cousins. So it wouldn’t be beneficial for the lakers. Also, don’t put the ball in the hands of your center. They will pickpocket him all game.

Jonathan Starks came from my high school. I only got to play against him 1 time in pick up and it was different. Before then even playing people on basketball teams I was keeping up, but I felt like a little kid in comparison. He would just shoot or jump around me. I still don't see how Starks doesn't have a job in the NBA and the fact players are better than him humbles me.

@dejanf81683 жыл бұрын
He's not that athletic so he doesn't produce many highlight defensive plays, but if you watch the game he's contesting and challenging everything on the inside, in the past years he struggled guarding against PnR where he gets blown by by smaller guards on the switch. Since last year and especially this season he's been very good with his positioning. I can't understand how this dude claims he's overrated, must be Embiid fan because Jokic is literally more important to Nuggets than any other player in the league is to their team including KD, Giannis, LeBron, Curry and the rest of superstars. Still claiming Jokic isn't on their level is just ignorant at this point.

Hot Take for this season: Ben Simmons will be a Bull. Patrick Williams and Coby White will be involved in the trade as well as that portland pick. It will be a three-team trade, with the Bulls being the surprise third team to get Ben Simmons, giving them depth at the 4 that they so desperately need. With Ben Simmons, they add a Defensive 1st team caliber player to the lineup, plus Ben will have shooters all around him and his ability to run on the fastbreak with Zach, Lonzo, and Demar will make the Bulls easily the Championship favorite after the trade happens. PG: Lonzo, Ayo, Dotson SG: Zach, Caruso, Thomas SF: DeRozen, Brown Jr PF: Simmons, Jones Jr, Green (Javonte still gets lots of PT) C: Vooch, Bradley
