I had a quad and had to stop due to safety concerns and an increase in fighting with my boys. For me, I found the increased space encouraged territorial behaviour and less bonding/rat piles. Although the active layout did help weight management it wasn’t worth it. I now have a deep dig base and am working on expanding the top to have a skyroof herb garden by cutting a hole into it (which can be easily barricaded) . I’ll be placing a coco soil herb garden, with sprays, a soft cat style bed, and will cover the bars. I’ve done a makeshift version while the Perspex is being made and shipped and I’m hopeful it’ll give just enough space for my (9 on Sunday!!) boys without the issues of before! All these cages are really great and I love seeing the effort and love people are putting into our little loves!

For sure! Extra space (obviously additional to the minimum) really can upset a male group especially.

Aww we're on a small scale here but I'm spending loads of time on a cage, possibly overthinking it too 🤣 always feels as I needs adding but there's no space left 🤣 if you'll be doing more reaction videos I'd like to send mine ☺️

Ive only had had rats since last August. So I'm learning mom. But I think I know which group you mean. I never thought ppl could be so vicious . Esspecially to ppl that are new or rescuing.

Can you link that good substrate. Available in north or England. Because Im in Newcastle upon Tyne and really want to try out substrates for my boys/ girls. All unwanted pets ive rehomed since Aug 2022 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
