A part of me fears that the true Shadow that everyone actually likes--the business-like, introverted protector of humanity to honor the wish of Maria Robotnik, a HUMAN--will never truly return. Because everything about '06 was atrocious when it released, Shadow's character was "bad" by extension. And since people always look at the absolute worst of Sonic, Shadow had a big decline as a means to "fit." It all gets sadder when you learn that the writer of '06 also wrote for Heroes, Zero Gravity, the Storybook Games, AND Shadow's debut game, Adventure 2. And in SA2, Heroes, and '06, Shadow was a prominent, involved focus with true purpose.

I also never got into the sonamy ship and didn’t see the appeal of it, especially with those moments of her more toxic personality traits showing (not being able to take no for an answer and beating Sonic with her hammer being the big ones). I don’t care about the excuse of he’s just shy cause that wouldn’t make her behavior okay. If someone is running from you and keeps saying no to your advances, shy or not, you’re already incredibly in the wrong cause you should have stopped after the first rejection. With her new personality, I can see the potential but.. nah. I’d rather Amy not get with Sonic. Sorry sonamy fans. I respect the ship and your opinion but for me, the idea of her constantly pushing for a relationship for years despite continually being rejected and then getting what she wants in the end? Not a good look.

My issue with it, aside from rewarding the crazy girl for being persistent (though at least she changes for the better unlike Sakura from Naruto), is the fact that Sonic was literally designed to NOT do romantic relationships, as he's meant to be the antithesis to Mario. If that's something alt continuity stuff like the comics wants to tackle, fine, but canon Sonic shouldn't be in a relationship. Frankly I'd rather none of the prominent characters outside of Knux&Rouge do shipping stuff just to avoid feeding into toxic Ship Culture like during the Sonally vs. Sonamy days.

Sure, they had some sweet moments (primarily in Sonic X), but at the end of the day, he actively avoids and shows discomfort with her advances in top of regularly flaking on the few dates they do set up, and she's a psychopath that refuses to take No for an answer and will even resort to violence if anyone gets in the way of her love, INCLUDING HIM.

I would like some sort of spin off games that expand the world of Sonic Like a Chaotix Detective/Mystery game with their own villain, someone like Clutch the Opossum on the comics, some sort of "Kingpin" Or a Silver game where he had to go through past, present and future versions of zones we already saw on the games to save the timeline

Hot take, Charmy is barely annoying, especially nowadays, and I do not understand why people were so upset over his character to this very day. His voice is too high pitched in heroes? Happy reminder Cream and Tails also have obnoxiously high pitch voices in that game. Shout out to Dream Team and Cream's voice in that game, I'd argue it's WAY more unpleasant to listen to. Not to mention Charmy's voice hasn't been annoying for years, considering he's been voiced by Tails' modern VA.

I wish Wolfie would lighten up on Amy, SonAmy, and fans of both. Even though the character has only started getting proper respect in recent years, people feel the need to bring up the past or take events out of context. And Sonic's relationship (romantic or platonic) with her has improved massively.

Even when one of her traits (that people don't like) aren't focused on, people still have a problem. She could be the most inoffensive character present or the best version of herself and people would still have an issue. Hell, I read a KZbin comment that stated that her feelings for Sonic should be outright removed. Personally, I don't think this guy is a hater. Part of me think he's a troll or a spammer. But I've read comments similar to this before.

@@BlackFlash09 for me, my biggest problem with the idea of sonamy becoming canon is the idea that despite ignoring Sonic’s rejections for years (and that scene where she is hitting him with her hammer, which I don’t believe is the first time she’s done that to him), she ends up getting the relationship in the end? Doesn’t matter to me if she’s the best version of herself cause that won’t erase the fact that she clearly wasn’t respectful towards his boundary/choice for years and kept pushing so valiantly that he’ll choose to run away from her sometimes.

My hot take: People don't like Jason Griffith because of the stories he was voicing in, they liked him because he gave a lot more oomf to the gameplay with better screams, yelling, and the way Jason was saying grunts and such. And I feel like that's the real reason people such as myself prefer Jason when you have a voice more more suitable for fast paced action that you're controlling.

I’m just gonna get this outta the way. When Sonic Team made the post where they were trying to make everything canon, I feel like it doesn’t help the timeline confusion. Not everything Sonic game has to be canonized for the games to have a canon event. If Sega and Sonic Team wanted to do another reset, mechanic, art direction, or new characters, I’ll be fine with that. I’m not saying change the characters’ personally, but go for a new direction or style. (Similar to how the Mario games are handled.). For Example, a cell shade comic book style or a reimagining of the advanced games. Something like that.

Here are some of my hot takes, from coldest to hottest (in my eyes, at least): - While the day stages are better in HD Unleashed (Ps3, Xbox 360), the night stages are better in the SD versions of Unleashed (Wii, Ps2). The Windmill Isle night acts are a standout in both gameplay and especially looks. (The purple sky/moon reflecting onto the sea and the contrast it creates with the Apotos buildings and the ruins is straight out of a painting.) - While Rise of Lyric will forever remain as missed potential due to Sega pulling a Sega, the 3DS Sonic Boom games are actually decent. I'd even say that Fire and Ice is high key underrated. - The only good things to come out of the Archie comics (besides Ian Flynn) are the "I've got your limit right here!" line and the Megaman Collabs. Everything else is better off scrubbed from collective memory. - The relationship between Sonic and Elise could have worked, but they definetly needed to build it up much more. Going to romance from the get-go kinda ruined the relationship's already slim chances of actually being accepted by the community, and would have been better off written as a deep friendship where Sonic's feelings for Elise were up in the air, kind of like with Amy for a while. (And if they actually do this in a theoretical 06 remake, they should stylize the humans so that they can use the updated Elise design as seen in official Sonic Channel artwork, because it is genuinely one of the best designs from the series. Well, that and it would be funny that, after scrapping Sonic's human girlfriend during early stages of conceptualization, he ended up with one anyway.)

Hot takes: I think Elise could've worked if done right. Make her have a friendship with Sonic instead. (like how Tom and Sonic are friends in the movies. Sure, he's a father figure, but he's also a friend as well). it would've been cool to see Sonic have an actual human friend for a change (excluding Sonic X). While I love Sonic Generations, my only complaint is there's way too many city levels (there's not enough variety). Sonic 4 wouldn't have failed if it wasn't called Sonic 4. Amy and Sonic are a good pairing together-if it's written right. The way she's written in IDW and in Frontiers emphasizes her character. The only good things to come out of Archie Comics were Ian Flynn and Scourge. P.S. Wolfie. I definitely recommend you play Black Knight. It's a lot better than Secret Rings. IDK how you are about mods, but you can emulate it with a controller. Worth trying in case your interested.

There's literally only 3 City stages, and all of them are distinct from each other. Speed Highway is at night and is on a... well, you get the name. City Escape is during the day and actually in the city, not on a highway. And Crisis City is destroyed and on fire under a darkened sky. This ain't like Green Hill and all the Green Hill clones.

Dolphin's SATBK take is honestly valid imo. Don't get me wrong, the story is fine, but it seems like people refuse to believe that anything can't be as good as it. I think the only thing the it did well was the characterization of Sonic. And even then, it's not the only valid one. The Sonic that came before, and after aren't bad because they aren't like BK. They are good in their own right. The Sonic before was much more "stylish", in a sense of everything he does is so cool. The "I just gotta do what I gotta do" aspect was no where near as prominent. And in later games, he dropped that, and actually found a goal for what he does. It's different, but not bad because of such. Imo, I feel like people like the characterisation of BK so much that they get upset when any other interpretation of the character is done. They'll spew "but it's inconsistent", or "that's not what he was before". Well I'm sorry, but isn't this the Sonic franchise we're talking about? Just like everything else, characterization is inconsistent. You can appreciate what came before, but you can't expect nothing to change. Look at Shadow for example, in SA2 and Shad 05, he was dark and broody, mad about what happened to Maria, and wanted revenge. In Heroes and 06, he now fully understands his past, and his promise with Maria, and acts upon it. This is change. Yet when it comes to Sonic? It's "why Sonic stories aren't good anymore" or "nobody understands Sonic" or some other bs. This franchise has so many moving parts, it's going to effect everything. You can like BK Sonic all you want. But don't use the "it's not that" that criticism. This is where the "Sonic fans are stubborn" phrase came from. How so many people in this community continue to complain about change. Not how it can hurt the franchise, but the very fact that it's different. Cuz in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. Whether Sonic is goal oriented or instinct oriented doesn't dictate whether a story is good or not. Both versions of him can have good outputs.

My personal hot takes that I care to share are. 1: I think a Shadow the hedgehog spinoff series would've worked well if they got the writing improved 2: Considering while as notoriously buggy and plot confusing as Sonic 06 Is. Shadow's characterization there was the best out of the entire series 3: Shadow the hedgehog game is just ok. Not terrible. Even if it has frustrating moments 4: The Sonic Boom spinoff could've worked if the made it clear it was an alt universe spinoff. (A lot of people don't actually know. It was partially marketed as a reboot. It was never intended to be) Not to mention how Sega threw them under the bus to make a deadline I think the plans they had would've been fun and interesting had they happened. But time really wasn't on their side 5: The American created Sonic characters from SATAM and canceled comics should not return. Because they don't fit within Sega of Japan's vision. Therefore, it should be respected. Not to mention the people trying to gain control of them also tried to messing with the franchise as a whole (looking at you Penders) 6: Sega needs to bring back actual Sega created characters like Honey the Cat, Bean n Bark, Babylon Rogues, and maybe even more references to Gamma If Emerl can come back. Why can't they? 7: Humans fit in fine and well in the games (not so much the movies) whether realistic or cartoonish It worked in Adventure and Unleashed. Why is it a problem to have humans? 9:16 I disagree on the point with Sonic Boom, because had it released at some other time, it wouldn’t have been caught in the Wii U exclusivity deal, and thus would’ve actually been made on the consoles it was intended to run on. I really think Sonic Boom could’ve been saved had it released on the consoles it was intended to be on. (And this is from someone who actually really likes Sonic Boom on Wii U.) And here’s a hot-take, but I think Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric’s OST doesn’t get enough love. It has a lot of gorgeous tracks, and it pains me that we’ll never hear them in a Sonic Symphony because of how hated the game is.

4:01 the physics are completely different shadow has no speed cap and turns get harder as you get fast and in sonic heroes turns are too sensitive and sonic is too fast but with a speed cap because of the lack of a spindash. Wanna drop my own then: - Sonic X is the worst Sonic show by far. Production value, sound design, acting, it's all pretty bad. S1 and S2 are borderline unwatchable, S3 is the only good one - The Sonic OVA is unwatchable trash, this is legitimately the worst thing ever - All of the Adventure Era post Heroes is underrated and yes, ALL of it. Shadow the Hedgehog is a pretty amazing experience, 06 is peak AF and the second best game in the franchise, Unleashed is peak AF and THE best game in the franchise, the Rivals duology are decent spin-offs, the Rush duology are banger spin-offs, the Storybook duology are banger spin-offs. Of these bangers only Unleashed, Rush and Black Knight get praised and that's complete BS. - SA2 is painfully mid. Sonic and Shadow gameplay, OST, Chao Garden, visuals, narrative and lore are all 👌👌👌. Everything else? Trash pretty much. - Guns aren't cringe, humans aren't cringe, serious and "edgy" narratives aren't cringe, YOU are cringe for thinking so - Elise kissing Sonic isn't where I wanted the story to go either but as an act it's r-t-rted that it gets hated. "Oh but bestiality 🤡" do you even know how Sonic's world works? Watered down version: IRL there's us humans and then there's every other animal, considering sus stuff with em is bestiality. Sonic's world has an in-between if, there's humans like us, animals and the anthropomorphic individuals. Calling them in-betweens ain't even fair, they're treated the same as humans in their world. Sonic isn't a tiny tennis ball sized hedgehog to Elise, he's a cool guy around her age, he has a personality, he has likes and dislikes, he's a PERSON. Elise didn't fall for a mindless hedgehog, she fell for a being intellectually and physically as capable as she is, a teenage 16 year old guy that might very well be the most impressive dude on the planet, probably 80% of Sonic's Earth wants to date Sonic. Stop thinking with IRL logic, "How could they even think of doing this?!" just make your mind work properly for 5 seconds. - Sally Acorn in anything that isn't SatAM is a 🐕💩 character. - The Freedom Fighters aren't interesting and shouldn't return - IDW > post-reboot Archie > Fleetway > pre-reboot Archie - Lost World is overhated AF. I don't love it, I think it's just OK, but it's BY FAR one of Sonic Team's most competent releases of all time, it's one of their best produced games for what they were aiming for. - You're all overreacting with Forces. It ain't great, it ain't trash. It's fine. - Frontiers Roger > Boom Roger > Jason Griffith > Deven Muck (Prime actor, hope I spelled his name right), I don't care about ranking the rest cause I find them trash ngl (pre-Frontiers Roger included in the trash). Except Jaleel White, he's peak - The canon is very easy to determine and so is the overall continuity and where each game takes place, you're all making it hard on yourselves for no reason and are incapable of seeing the obvious signs in chronology. - Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is an OK 6/10, for the millionth time Sonic fans are just extremist professional overreaction Gods - Sonic 4: Episode II is the best 2D mainline game alongside Sonic 2 (Episode I is terrible don't get me wrong, I'm specifically talking about II) - Mania's overrated-ness causes me physical pain. It's fine. Most of it is an over glorified recontextualized remake of the original 4 games, a game that yaps a ton but has nothing to say, definitely one of the games of all time.

Besides voice acting, this one of the best looking official sonic animation, with good music, Classic CD/genesis vibe, and the best portrayal of metal sonic as an antagonist hands down.

@@whiten4635 Ah, let me reiterate friend, for clarity. I don't think Sonic 4 is the best 2D mainline game. Sonic 4 overall as a package is both Episodes and I consider Episode I a disgrace, a legit 4/10, worst mainline game ever. Episode I's existence drops the overall S4 experience down to a 6/10. It's Episode II in particular that I adore so much, that episodic release standalone is the pinnacle for me. Small distinction but I wanna make it crystal clear!

When you’re going from start to finish, I find Shadow to be less monotonous as while there are ten stories you need to do unlike the 4 stories, the stages and level designs aren’t identical in Shadow every time as there are new stages on each path, except Westopolis, but once you get past Digital Circuit, Glyphic Canyon or Lethal Highway (the stages you can end up in after westopolis) depending on if you go hero, neutral, or dark, things open up really well to which I never had a problem with it overall, aside from the two Maria stages and how maze-like they are. Whereas Heroes only makes slight changes to the levels and their lengths but are fundamentally the same with some difficulties to which I feel extremely burnt out from way quicker, even if both of these games aren’t really meant to be marathoned.

Plus if you know which missions you'd prefer to take if you just want to speedrun a fresh playthrough just to unlock the Last Story quickly, it can be less of a chore to unlock. For example, I find it easier to unlock the Hero endings by just going neutral until Sky Troops and then blitzing through Space Gadget (admittedly with the excuse of "ANYTHING to bypass Lost Impact" and the fact you don't have to do the most tedious Hero missions on the pure Hero path).

Hey, @SGWolfie. I've got a couple of 3D Sonic gaming questions I wanna ask you, involving Princess Blaze The Cat. 1, What if we had a "Sonic Rush 3D" co-op story game, where us fans can play both Prince Sonic and Princess Blazey at the same time, like a mixture between "Sonic Heroes" and "The Legend Of Spyro Dawn Of The Dragon"? 2, Since Shadow's got his own game back in 2005, how awesome would it be, if we had a "Blaze The Cat" game, since she's a female version of Prince Sonic? Think about it. Those two are a-lot-a-like wit so much in common. For example, they've very fast feet, they've attitudes, they've a respective set of seven Emeralds each, they've a special form to transform into by using their respective Emeralds, they've a respective Eggman to battle with, they've strong bonds for all of their friends and will do their best to keep them safe and finally, they're both royalty. Personally, I don't care if "Sonic Underground" is canon, or not, cause to me, I believe Sonic's still a Prince.

There's a video called "Sonic CD full game animation" where she was taken to Metallic Madness but she escaped and had a quick fight with metal sonic on stardust speedway (as a Sonic the fighters reference) and he caught her again on that broken pole (it was broken because of their fight) and that's why Sonic found her tied up there
