What would your answer be to most of those young Adventists out there that understand the Christian view of the Trinity (and in fact agree with most Christian doctrines--including the 5 Solas) and yet call themselves Adventists? They are very unconcerned about the SDA official doctrines, especially about the Sanctuary Doctrine (IJ), Ellen White and the Last-Day prophecies. They scoff at the Adventists who insist that Adventists should believe all of the doctrines. In fact, I think the majority of US Adventists don't care about SDA doctrines but just stay in for purposes of Sabbath and social reasons. They are apathetic and indifferent about doctrine. So pointing out that the official doctrines say one thing about the Trinity, when most Adventists they know claim to embrace the mainstream Christian belief on the Trinity, is simply unimportant to them. "Who cares?" they think. It's what they, themselves, believe that is important to them, not what the denomination claims.

In Revelation chapter 12, John sees a vision of a woman "clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars" (Revelation 12:1). Note the similarity between this description and the description that Joseph gave of his father Jacob (Israel) and his mother and their children (Genesis 37:9-11). The twelve stars refer to the twelve tribes of Israel. So the woman in Revelation 12 is Israel. Chapter 17 talks about the whore of Babylon. Revelation 17:1-2 tells us, “Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, ‘Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.’” Revelation 17:5 goes on to say, “And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Who is this “whore of Babylon” and what is “mystery Babylon”? The fact that the whore of Babylon is referred to as a mystery means that we cannot be completely certain as to her identity. The passage does give us some clues, however. Revelation 17:9 explains, “This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.” Many commentators link this passage with the Roman Catholic Church because in ancient times, the city of Rome was known as “the city on seven hills” because there are seven prominent hills that surround the city. However, verse 10 goes on to explain that the seven hills represent 7 kings or kingdoms, five of which have fallen, one that is and one that is to come. Therefore, the "whore of Babylon" cannot refer exclusively to Rome. Revelation 17:15 tells us, “Then the angel said to me, ‘The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.’” The whore of Babylon will have great worldwide influence over people and nations. Verses 10-14 describe a series of eight and then ten kings who affiliate with the beast. The whore of Babylon will at one time have control over these kings (Revelation 17:18), but at some point the kings will turn on her and destroy her (Revelation 17:16). On the other hand, go to Rev 2:18 and read about Ellen G. White. The Bible calls her by another name, Jezebel. Don't be afraid of the truth.

*The scriptures were never intended to be in the hands of the Protestants who are the fallen away spoken of in 2Thessalonians 2.* They refuse to hear and obey the church as Christ and the Apostles teach, therefore, they stumble at the word repeatedly. They make up their own doctrines, each one in conflict with the other and have no assurance of anything, except they have an "opinion" which is as worthless as the other millions. Thus, we find endless cults and false teachers taking up the scriptures that commands them to obey the Church and the bishops of the church, whereby they become ever learning and never able to come to the truth.

@@polycarpsmith1419 Seventh-day Adventism isn’t Protestant. You’re operating on a faulty definition of Protestant. @@kimartist That's supposed to be a clever answer???? *Calling someone father Timothy and the use of the word "Father" , it's obvious, if Timothy is Paul's "son in the faith" then Paul is Timothy's "father in the faith". Why is this so difficult for the Protestant's and SDA? It's so simply! 1st of all, when the SDA teaches and abuses this scripture and makes it an affront to the Catholics, they know deep in their hearts, they are playing some silly game of "gotcha". 2nd of all, any 3rd grader can look up the word, *"father"* in a concordance and see, that the word is used by Christ in the story of Lazarus and the Richman, where Christ says the Lazarus calls, Abraham, *"father Abraham"* . Moreover, it is use countless times in scripture to refer to the ancestors of the Jews. Moreover, Christ said that devil was the self-righteous *Pharisee's father* . 3rd of all, the simply meaning is this, There is but one true Father, (God) from whom all Fatherhood originates. And, unless you are in favor of the Heavenly Father through Christ, you are not a true Father. 4th, the scripture is explicit concerning Abraham: Galatians 3:29 (KJV) 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Thus, making us the spiritual children of Abraham and Abraham our Father through Christ. 1Peter 3:6 Sarah is praised in scripture for calling her husband, "LORD" . Just imagine what you Pharisees can do with that! To further denounce the childish games and fable by the SDA, they condemn any use of the word, "holy" with the use of the word father. Yet, the scripture says, without holiness, no man shall see God. I hope and strive with all of my being, I am a "holy father" to my children. So, that's a sin? Please! Their argument is just ignorant and shallow. *There are 100's of these little games played by the cults to try to steal members away from the Catholic Church.* Sarah is praised in scripture for calling her husband, *"LORD"* . @@answeringadventism My friend, even where their is abuse, it does not take away the lawful use of authority. The Papacy is Christ ordained and not to be ignored. Martin Luther was the beginning of the "falling away" spoken of in 2Thess. 2. Luther condemned himself with his own words, saying: these things: In 2014, I compiled a book called, The “Catholic” Luther: An Ecumenical Collection of His “Traditional” Utterances. It was an attempt to gather together significant statements from the Founder of Protestantism (who lived from 1483-1546) that are theologically traditional and in total or very close accord with historic Catholic theology. Here are a few highlights that some might find interesting (as I did in discovering them): 1. Crucifixes: “The custom of holding a crucifix before a dying person has kept many in the Christian faith and has enabled them to die with a confident faith in the crucified Christ.” (Sermons on John, Chapters 1-4, July 1537 to Sep. 1540) 2. Private Confession: “Christ Himself placed His Absolution into the hands of His Christian people.… God through a human being looses and absolves him from his sins.… if you want to despise it and proudly continue without Confession, then we must draw the conclusion that you are no Christian and should not enjoy the Sacrament either.” (A Brief Admonition to Confession, 1529) 3. Good Works Are a Necessary Expression of the Authenticity of True Faith: “But our Antinomians do not see that they preach Christ without the Holy Ghost and against the Holy Ghost, because they are willing to let the people continue in their old life, and yet declare them saved, though the logic of it is that a Christian should have the Holy Ghost and lead a new life, or know that he has no Christ.” (On the Councils and the Churches, March 1539) 4. Baptism Regenerates and Saves: “By means of God’s Word, water becomes baptism, that is, a bath unto everlasting life, which washes away sins and saves men.” (Ibid.) 5. Jesus is Present Bodily in the Eucharist, Which Saves and is to be Adored: “Irenaeus and the ancient fathers pointed out the benefit that our body is fed with the body of Christ, in order that our faith and hope may abide and that our body also may live eternally from the same eternal food of the body of Christ which it eats physically.” (That These Words of Christ, “This Is My Body,” etc., Still Stand Firm Against the Fanatics, March 1527) “[One should not withhold from him such worship and adoration either… one should not condemn and accuse of heresy people who do adore the sacrament.” (The Adoration of the Sacrament, 1523) 6. Wrongness of Contraception and a Pro-Child Outlook: “How many girls there are who prevent conception and kill and expel tender fetuses, although procreation is the work of God!” (Lectures on Genesis, Chapters 21-25, May 1540) 7. Prayer for the Dead: “[We will not and cannot restrain them, nor count it as sin, if they pray for the dead. For we are ever certain from the Gospel, that many have been raised from the dead, who, we must confess, did not receive nor did they have their final sentence; and likewise we are not assured of any other, that he has his final sentence. Now since it is uncertain and no one knows, . . . it is not sin if you pray for them; but in this way, . . .: Dear God, if the departed souls be in a state that they may yet be helped, then I pray that thou wouldst be gracious. … the prayer of the heart, of devotion and of faith…will help the departed souls if anything will.” (Sermon for the First Sunday after Trinity; Luke 16:19-31, 1522-1523) 8. The Perpetual Virginity of Mary: “A new lie about me is being circulated. I am supposed to have preached and written that Mary, the mother of God, was not a virgin either before or after the birth of Christ, but that she conceived Christ through Joseph, and had more children after that.” (That Jesus Christ Was Born a Jew, 1523) 9. Mary Was Immaculately Conceived and Sinless: “. . . the infusion of the soul [of Mary], is piously believed to have been accomplished without original sin. So that, in that very infusing of the soul, the body was simultaneously purified from original sin, and endowed with divine gifts to receive that holy soul which was infused into it from God. And thus, in the first moment it began to live, it was exempt from all sin.” (Sermon: On the Day of the Conception of Mary, the Mother of God, 8[?] December 1527) 10. An Infallible and Indefectible Church: “[The church must teach God’s word alone, and must be sure of it. The church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth [1 Tim 3:15], built on the rock, and called holy and irreproachable [Eph. 2:21]. Thus, one rightly and truly says, 'The church cannot err, for God’s word which it teaches cannot err.' But whatever else is taught or whatever is not with certainty God’s word, cannot be the doctrine of the church, but must be the doctrine, falsehood, and idolatry of the devil.” (Against Hanswurst, April 1541) “But if we have no true cleric or sacrament, then neither Christianity nor church has remained. This is clearly opposed to the article, 'I believe in one holy, Christian church,' and to the words of Christ, 'I am with you always, to the close of the age,' etc. [Matt. 28:18]. To this I reply thus: First, the church or Christianity has remained and must remain. (The Private Mass and the Consecration of Priests, Oct. 1533) Luther held all these views throughout his life (several of my examples are seen to be from dates late in his life), with the exception of the Immaculate Conception. In later years (roughly after 1530), he held that Mary was purified and freed from original sin at Christ’s conception and not her own. I have described this view in my own treatments of it (after extensive research), as “Immaculate Purification.” He always held, on the other hand, that Mary was without actual sin. That never changed.
